I bit my lip.
"Mom, Dad?"
Mom looked up with teary eyes.
Dad turned off the camera and sat next to Mom. He comforted her.
"Is there something you want to tell me?" I asked loudly.
The kids stopped chatting. Zeke whimpered.
My parents hesitated. "Yes, we do." Dad confessed.
...
"We accidentally lost your pictures when Mom gave birth to you. I'm sorry." Dad said.
Mom sniffed.
They still aren't telling me.
"Why don't you just tell me? Tell me the real truth!" I yelled. My eyes started to water
Dad stood up. "But I did tell the truth."
"No you didn't! Dad, tell me I was adopted!" Tears rolled down my cheeks.
"No you're not!" Dad said loudly.
"I am!! I am adopted! I'm different from all of you guys!"
Mom burst into tears. The kids rushed to hug and comfort Mom.
"Jewel, can we talk about this later?"
"No we cannot! Tell me the truth right now!!!!" I screamed.
Daxton started to wail.
Dad hesitated and looked at Mom. Mom had her mascara running down her cheeks and nodded. Emmi dabbed her wet cheeks. Brock covered his eyes. Avia put her arm around Mom. Gavin was leaning on the couch and watched me and Dad have an argument.
"Okay, Jewel. You were adopted by me and your Mom." Dad said calmly.
My tears blurred my vision and ran down my cheeks.
Dad offered a tissue and waited for me to take it.
I wiped my tears with the back of my hand refused to take the tissue.
"Why didn't you tell me sooner?!" I cried.
Dad just looked at my wet eyes. Not saying anything.
"We thought you-"
"You know what? LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!" I shouted as loud as I could.
I heard the kids sniff and cry.
I ran to my room and slammed the door. I went to lie on my bed. I cried on my pillow.
I wanted to talk to someone. Now.
I reached to my phone with my shaky hands.
I called Luke.
Hello?
Luke.
Oh my god. Jewel are you okay?
Luke, I'm having the worse day ever.
Jewel! Tell me everything! Don't cry!
I need to go to your house.
When?
Now!
Okay. I'll wait at the door.
I hung up.
I changed into some skinny jeans and a floral tank top with a jacket. I rushed to the door and headed out. I started walking toward Luke's house.
I let my tears stream down my face.
I walked and walked and walked.
I heard footsteps behind me. I stopped and looked behind me.
The man hid behind a tree with his jacket sticking out. I turned back and I started to fast walk. I heard the man following me.
I started to run to Luke's house. I saw Luke sitting on the steps in front of his house.
"Luke!"
Luke quickly stood up and looked at me.
"Jewel! Are you-"
"Hurry get in the house!"
Luke quickly opened the door and we ran in and locked the door.
"What's going on?"
I sniffed and rubbed my eyes. "Some man was chasing after me."
"Your dad?"
"Um.. maybe?"
Luke led me to his room.
"Jewel, you have red eyes"
"I know! I've been crying!"
I imagined the whole scene all over again.
I started to cry.
"Aww Jewel."
I ran to his bed and flood my tears on his pillow.
"Hey. that's my pillow."
I raised my head and my hair stuck to my face. I gave his pillow to him.
"Ummm.. thanks."
I sniffed.
"What's wrong? Tell me everything."
I explained to him what happened.
"You're adopted?!"
"Yes! Isn't it obvious? Look at my eyes. They are hazel and green."
Luke nodded.
"Hey Luke?"
"What?"
"Can I sleepover tonight? I don't really want to-"
"Yeah okay. I'll ask my mom." Luke interrupted.
Luke went out and I sat on his bed waiting for him.
A few minutes passed and Luke came back.
"She said as long as we don't do any... funny business."
I nodded. "I'll sleep on the floor."
"No! You sleep on the bed! You're the girl!"
I glared at him.
Luke raises his hands to surrender.
"Okay, girl. If you insist me sleeping on the bed."
I nodded and smiled. Luke grabbed some pillows and blankets. He he placed it on his big carpet.
It was around 8. Luke gave me a spare toothbrush to brush my teeth. We went to Luke's room. We turned off the ceiling light and turned on his lamp beside his bed. We both played on our phones. :)
Luke played Flappy Bird and whenever he raged, he smacks his pillow.
I played Sims 3.
Then at 10, we went to bed.
At 2AM I woke up crying. I grabbed the tissue box. Then I fell back asleep.
