Chapter 13
My mother looked old, and worn. It was like looking at a dried apple doll, she defiantly hadn't been using her Loreal skin beautifier B.B cream.
"Mom, what happened to you.." I said, tearing up. Remembering my once loving, beautiful mother.
She put the cigarette in the ash tray and cleared her throat, she looked me in the eyes, her gaze was cold
"I gave up, I lost your father and I didn't know what to do so I did what I was taught to do. Run."
"But you left me, your seventeen year old daughter with nowhere to go. I lost the house, my mom, my dad and my dignity."
"I thought you lived with uh what's his name- Payton?"
"Pete mom. His name is pete." I said through gritted teeth
"No need to get your panties in a twist" she cackled
"I don't see why I even tried fixing things with you. All you ever did for me was to bow down to everyone and not get in their way"
"You know what Arielle, all you were was a little spermy who got out when the condom broke. You were a mistake. You were just an obstacle in me and your fathers life, and that's all you will ever be" she pointed her finger at me
"I'm glad that you think so highly of me. Your own flesh and blood child." I choked
"Get out of my house" she growled
"You mean your trailer? Go ahead smoke another one why dontcha? Get lung cancer and pass away. Because I don't matter to you, so I guess you don't matter to me." I said, as I turned to walk away I heard her grab something, I turned back around and he smacked me in the head with a wooden spoon.

I started to see again, and all I saw was my mother, laying on the floor with her eyes closed and swelling areas around her face. I grabbed my back pack which was on the couch and walked outside and to my car.
I sat in the drivers seat and rubbed my head, where I felt a lump. Most likely from the wooden spoon. I started the engine and shifted my car into drive and headed back to Pete's.

I pulled into the driveway, and stopped at my usual Parkin spot; in front of the shed.
I went inside and walked over to Pete who was at the table, he looked like he was doing his checkbook.
"Hey Pete" I said
"Hello Arielle" he said, focusing on his work
"How about we adopt you a dog?" I blurted
"Excuse me?" he peeked his eyes up over the rim of his glasses
"Me and you need to bond more. So if we get you a dog, me and you can walk our dogs together and talk and bond more" I smiled
"Maybe, I'm not a big animal person" he said, writing numbers down
"Let's make a deal, I'll bring you home a dog, if you don't like him I'll bring him back." I said
"Fine, but no ankle biters!" he pointed a finger at me
"Hey! I take offense. and Malli isn't an ankle biter" I said, walking away
I plopped onto my bed and got out my laptop, I have homework I should be doing. I grabbed a textbook and my notebooks and wrote random answers down, if they get mad I can just use my excuse I always use 'At least I tried, I don't understand' I chuckled a little at my thought
My phone started ringing from my bureau and I got up, I looked at who it was and it was austin.
"Hey austin! what's up?" I said with a huge smile on my face
"Arielle, it's Megan and Ming. They called my cell and told me to tell you that they are leaving tomorrow, because you wouldn't answer your phone. Isn't this great?!" he said excitedly
"This is amazing, holy crap we need to do something special!" I shouted
"Let's do what they love doing!" he said
"Water balloon fight?"
"No, we all go hang out and party until midnight and camp out somewhere so we don't get into any accidents" he suggested
"Sounds perfect" I smirked
