Promt: Can you do one for Changing Will where something happens to Ethan and will gets really worried? Please?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“William, it’s just me,” mom said as she came into my bedroom.

She carried a laundry basket over and began to put my clothes away for me. She was in a cleaning mood, which meant I got out of doing my laundry this week.

                “Where’s Ethan?” she asked.

“I don’t know. He hasn’t texted me back,” I said with a shrug.

I was lying down on my bed, playing QuizUp on my phone. I was so bored, and of course Ethan wasn’t texting me back. He was probably too busy getting himself into trouble again.

“Did you try calling him?” she asked.

“No mom, I thought telepathy was a better idea,” I said. “Of course I tried calling him.”

                “Will!”

Sonnet ran into my room. I flicked my eyes towards her lazily before returning them to my phone.

“What do you want brat? Make it quick,” I said.

                “Ethan,” she said, sounding worried.

I sat up. “What about him?”

“Benji just called me. Ethan’s been in the hospital since late last night,” she said.

“What?” I cried. “Why? What happened to him?”

“Apparently he accidentally ate something with nuts in it,” she said. “Benji said his parents rushed him to the hospital.”

“Is he okay?” I asked anxiously.

“Benji said Ethan should be home soon,” she said.

“I have to go see him,” I said, jumping up and searching around for a shirt since I was currently topless.

“William! Will, calm down,” my mom said, grabbing my shoulders. “Sonnet said he’d be home soon. He’s not home yet. Wait until you hear from him, or Benji, or Ethan’s parents.”

“Mom, I have to go see him!” I said impatiently.

“William, I know you’re worried about him. But you need to just calm down,” she said gently. “Just sit down and wait until you hear from someone that he’s home.”

She forced me to sit on my bed and kissed my forehead. “He’s going to be okay if he’s coming home soon.”

I began to shake my leg impatiently, gripping my phone. No wonder Ethan hadn’t texted me back or returned my calls.

God, I was going to be the one having panic attacks if I didn’t hear from someone soon. I wanted to see Ethan right away. Eating nuts could kill him.

Sonnet and my mom watched me. Mom sighed and gave my shoulder a reassuring squeeze.

“I’m going to go make you some tea. You need to calm down,” she said and left my room.

“He’s going to be okay, Will,” Sonnet said. “Something tells me this isn’t the first time he’s done something this stupid.”

“Get out. I want to be alone,” I said tightly.

Sonnet shrugged and left my bedroom. My mom came back a few minutes later and handed me tea. She offered me a small smile.

“He’s going to be just fine William,” she said and left my room.

But what if Ethan wasn’t okay? I mean, he was deathly allergic. Eating nuts was a very, very bad thing for Ethan.

I waited in my bedroom, my mind going crazy, worry eating me up inside. Finally, my phone buzzed. I answered without even checking the I.D.

                “Hello?” I asked.

“Will, hi. It’s Mary,” Ethan’s mom said.

“How is Ethan?” I asked, my heart beating too fast.

“He’s resting right now in his room. We just got him home a little while ago. Would you like to come see him?” she offered.

“I’ll be right over,” I said and hung up. I pulled on a T-shirt and hurried out of the house. I drove myself to Ethan’s and rang the doorbell.

Mary opened the door and let me in. “A friend from work made us a dessert yesterday. She didn’t know about Ethan’s allergy. We didn’t realize it had nuts in it until Ethan had already eaten some. He started wheezing and then my husband realized what was happening. We got him to the hospital quickly, but he was barely breathing when we got there. He’s alright now, though. He might be asleep.”

I nodded and hurried down to his bedroom. I let myself in and looked over. Ethan was propped up on his pillows, sleeping.

I went over and sat on the edge of his bed. I took his hand in mine eyeing him carefully. He was a little pale, but other than that, he looked alright.

“You idiot,” I said quietly, looking away from him.

“Hey, that’s rude. I almost died. Have a little sympathy.”

I jumped in surprise and turned to face him. He grinned at me and shrugged innocently.

“I heard you coming down here so I pretended to be asleep,” he said.

“You give me anxiety,” I said and hugged him tightly. “I’m glad you’re okay,” I whispered.

“William Alexander Duvet, were you actually worried about me?” Ethan asked, raising an eyebrow.

I opened my mouth to make a sarcastic remake, but stopped myself. I couldn’t stop picturing a scene where his mom called me, crying and telling me that they hadn’t gotten him to the hospital in time.

“Yes,” I said, pulling him back into my arms. “I was worried about you.”

“Sorry,” he said, hugging me back. “I didn’t mean to almost die.”

I sighed and kissed him lovingly. “You’re so stupid. I love you.”

“It’s not my fault!” he whined. He pouted and crossed his arms. “Whatever. I guess I love you too. Even though you’re an ass to me.”

I scowled at him. “If I was really an ass, I would be making fun of you right now. I was really worried about you, you know.”

“How sweet,” he said, grinning and kissing me. “Now, I was awake all night trying not to die just so I could come home and see your lovely scowling face. I’m tired. Nap with me.”

He pulled me down next to him. I put my arms around him as he snuggled against me, his head on my chest. I stroked his hair and kissed him.

He drifted off to sleep in my arms. I smiled down at him weakly, wishing he would be more careful. I couldn’t, and didn’t want to, imagine a world without Ethan in it. I loved this idiotic, self-destructive moron of a boy.
