It was a week later Eli asked Fay over to his house he nervous about it because how things ended. He knew they were just friends but they would alone together. When Fay came over Eli could hear his sisters and his mom tell her how sorry they still were for her.
“How are you doing Fay?”
“Just fine. Thanks Mrs. Young.” She gave her a hug and walked to his bedroom. When she got in his bed room all the memories came back. She stood trying not to cry. Eli saw the look in her eyes and wondered what was wrong.
“You ok Fay.”
“I just thought about the memories we made in this room.”
“Yeah I know.” She sat on the bed next to him she could still feel the attraction between them. She smiled back at him. That smile still made him melt. They felt like they were falling love all over again. Fay thought about wedding and the feelings went away.
“You wanna listen to some music.”
“Sure.” As he was looking for music he accidentally put on the love mix about them. As a just a kiss played Eli looked at Fay to see if it was bothering her.
“This is bad right. This song playing.”
“Idk. I don’t what to think.” out of the blue he kissed her on the lips. She put her arms around him. Then it felt wrong so she jerked away standing up. When she got Eli knew something was wrong.
“I’m sorry about the kiss. I got lost in the moment. I hope I didn’t make you mad.”
“I’m not mad. It felt good but we can’t go back there after what happened to much pain right now. I just wanna be your good friend.” he hugged her trying to make Fay feel better. He moved a little away from Fay as they watched the movie. Eli noticed she still had her locket around her neck.
“I see you never took off your locket.”
“I just couldn’t it still meant too much to me to take it off.” Fay opened it up it had the picture of their first date. They both looked at it wondering what went wrong.
“I’m so sorry I broke your heart. It wasn’t supposed to end like this. I never wanted to make you cry but I did it and if I could change it I would but no matter you would have been hurt anyway.”
“Yeah I agree with that. I wish you hadn’t done at the wedding. Maybe then it would’ve hurt so bad. It happened and its over with so lets not talk about again before we hurt all over again.”
“I agree. I’m sorry I brought it up I just wanted to know I never meant to hurt you.”
“I’ve known that since we became friends. Stuff happens you had no choice but to do it.”
“Yeah I agree. It won’t happen again promise.” They went in for a hug their hands touched and it felt good. Eli thought about kissing you but he knew it wrong and too late. Plus he was in love with someone else. Fay could by the look in his eyes he still liked her.
“Eli I can tell you have feeling for me. I wish we could start over but its too late you made that clear the day you left the altar.”
“I know Fay and it sucks but it was my choice and I have to live with it.”
“Its too bad things ending like that. We were really good together.”
“Yeah but a least we were able to come out of as good friends. I don’t what I would have done if you stopped talking to me.”
“That never crossed my mind even when you broke my heart I still wanted you in my life. I just couldn’t talk to you after the wedding or I would have said things I would regret later.”
“That’s what I like about you Fay. See we’re still good friends. Nothing just our relationship status changed.
10 years later
Fay was now 36 with two kids her husband walked out on her years ago. She had moved back into town 2 months ago. She had moved to Nashville when she was 30. She had lost contact with Eli years ago. She walked into local mc Donald’s for some food she saw Eli she could never forget that smile. He saw her running up to her.
“Omg it’s you. Wow you’ve changed. It’s been a longtime since we spoke. I’ve missed you. What happened?”
“I don’t know I guess we just moved on. What have you been up to you these years?”
“I was married for a while I got two kids a girl and boy. I work at a school teaching little kids. What about you Fay.”
“I was married to I’ve only been back in town 2 months. I moved away when I was 30 I guess I wanted a new start. I have two kids too two twin girls Emma and Ashlee they’re 10. I worked at a daycare there which I started here.” Eli grabbed her hand noticing the spark. She smiled at him like she did when they were in love. He wanted to kiss her and hold her tight. Eli saw her locket around her after all these years she never took it off.
“This was great but I have to go my kids are waiting you. Here’s my number call me and when hang out together.” She ordered her food and then she left. Eli went to his mom house to see her and get the kids.
“Mom you won’t believe who I ran into you today.”
“Who.”
“Fay she’s back in town. I’ve waited a longtime to talk to her.”
“You still love her don’t you son.”
“Yeah the girl left her for left me alone with the kids. I have to win her back.”
“Are you sure after all these years she still loves you.”
“I don’t know but it worth a shot. I already lost her once that do I have to lose now.”
“Yeah I agree with you.” He picked up his kids and drove home. At home he still had all the pics of him and Fay he couldn’t throw them out. He sat on his bed looking at pics of when they were together. He called her up on the phone.
“Hey this is Eli I wanted to know if wanted to go to the dirt road and hang out. Maybe my mom can watch the girls.”
“I’d loved that.” She drove to the dirt road when she got there she had memories what happened between them. She saw Eli and her heart just skipped a bet. He put on the song “just a kiss” taking her hand and they just danced. As her arms her wrapped around him made her fall in love with him all over again. They sat in the back of flatbed truck and talked.
“Why did we stop talking to each other?”
“I don’t really know. I think I lost your number Eli. I never stopped thinking bout you. “
”Fay I’m still in love with you.”
“I could tell by the way looked at me when first saw me. How long were you married for?”
“I was married for 7 years when she walked off one day leaving the kids. Lily is 4 and Daniel is 3 and they ask about their mom and I don’t have answer. I’m thankful for the kids but I wish I stayed with you.”
“I’m sorry does she write.”
“No I haven’t since the last time we’re together.” Eli could feel 10 years of feelings rushing back when he looked into her hazel eyes. She was also lost in his brown eyes. Eli kissed her softly on the lips then pulled back. Fay kissed him back soon they were making out. All of that brought back memories and lost love.
"I’ve been waiting 10 years for this. I thought I never see you again. Then I would have to live the pain of letting you go."
"That’s so sweet that waited all this time to tell that you loved me. I loved you all this time too. I moved back here because id friends here and I knew you'd still be here."
"How long after we fell apart did you get married."
"3 years when the next year I moved and had my girls. My husband always wanted to take of my locket and said I no. the only time take it off is to shower. I kept thinking if I wore it the time that meant one day I would found you again."
"Promise me your never leave me again."
"Promise." They both wanted to fall asleep under the moonlight in back of the truck but they had kids and had to get home. They both went to his mom house to pick up their kids.
"Fay I have to go home I’ll call you later. This was fun. I love you."
"I love you too." They both got into different cars and drove off. As Fay was driving off Ashlee asked her about Eli?
"Who was that mommy?"
"A friend of mommy. Remember the picture in the locket."
"Yes."
"He’s the guy in the picture. " she couldn't tell her girls that she gonna marry him and they were going be a family. She put her girls to bed when they got home and went to bed where she dreamed bout her and Eli.
A month later
Eli was hanging around her kids that her daughters were calling daddy so she knew it time to have the talk with them about her and Eli.
"Girls you like Eli like a daddy right."
"Yeah we do mommy."
"So you should like him to be your step dad."
"Yes mommy we would."
"We are getting married next year." The girls seemed really excited to have him their lives. Since they never really had a father. Later that night he gave her the ring getting down one knee on the dirt road.
"Fay Williams will you marry me."
"Of course. Yes a million times yes." He hugged her kissing her long and good.
she picked a new dress since she didn’t have that old dress she wore the first time with him this time Eli and Fay were gonna make it right.
A year later
They all the ready for a wedding this time nothing was gonna go wrong. Their kids were all there. The girls were in light purple. Daniel was in while tux he was ring bearer and Lily was the flower girl. Eli was still in black and white. Lily walked down the aisle dropping the rose petals. When Eli got on the bridge having Daniel next to him. "Just a kiss" started to play and Fay walked down to the bride as Eli looked at her his mouth dropped. When they got together they held during the reading of the vows.
“We are gathered here today to witness the joining of Fay Underwood and Eli Young. Fay Underwood do you take Eli Young to be your husband to have and to hold till death do you part through sickness and in health.”
“I do.”
“Eli Young do you take Fay Underwood to be your wife to have and to hold till death do you part through sickness and in health.”
"I do."
"I now show you Mr. and Mrs. Young." everyone clapped as they kissed long and good. When they got the got the dance hall everyone was changed in semi formal causal. They played "wanted" by Hunter Hayes the two started to slow dance their dance.
Hours later
They dropped the kids off with Eli's mom and they went to the hotel room to be alone and to "celebrate" they were finally happy and together. They lay in the bed as husband and wife and talked about being together.
2 weeks later Fay found she was pregnant everyone now was all living under one roof. She was so happy to finally to be having his kids everyone they wanted 11 years ago. When she about 9 months later she had a little boy named Eli Jay young Jr.
"I can’t believe you just had my son and that we were married. It may have taken 11 years to get right but is finally right."
"I agree my loving cutie." the nurse took a pic of the whole family together and Fay just looked at her perfect family and husband
