Caught short
On the wrong side of the sentence.
It is its own thing now.

The words
A rippling force aimed at the ears
Reactions, repercussions, responses.

Now it was more than a voice in the head.
Seeking out the emotions,
kicking and smashing as they travel.

Torturing the unseen with brutality and grace.
The mouth seals shut, the voices go silent.

Isolation sets

All you are left with is a curling, down cast look.
The hand of shame is blushing its way to the forefront.

You can attempt to take back, to save, to console the inconsolable.
But it is too late, for the hate has left the building.

A stain on the soul, forever and always.
Forgiven but not forgotten.
Only time will tell.
