Dawn

Eternal souls are very rampant. As that is for the pain I feel when I look at him. I know who he is. I know where he's been. But he has no clue... All I want is the chance to be there. To hold him. To call him mine forever. Oh, how I envied all the others. They could have just that time to enjoy with the one they love most deeply.

I envied and envied but I already knew it would never be true. I'd just continue spending my time watching him through his window. Watching him sleep within his sheets. Lying on his bed as he stirs in his sleep. I just lean back against the tree I was in and let my wings flow on either side of me.

They shined in the moonlight. The moon glistened off their black feathers. My skin had that same olive tone to it as it did when the sun shined on it. My long black hair flowed over my eyes as I gazed up at the crescent moon and was amazed yet again by the beauty of it. I let my green eyes glisten into the light of the moon.

Chapter 1: First Sightings

Mason

I stirred in my sleep. Reaching out after a girl who I could never fully see. All I seen was her eyes. Green like cat eyes. Though, they weren't your usual green. They were like a blazing green. So bright that it just seemed impossible to have. In my dream, she was always running. I never knew where but she tugged my hand, and would tell me to hurry. I heard the shakiness in her voice but I never fought against her. Just the touch from her sent a shiver of cold heat throughout my body. I never knew what we was running from but I always followed.

We run until we got to the defying cliffs of Maryland that plunged down to the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean. The rocks were sharp jagged edges that frightened me because I wouldn't lie that I was afraid of heights. I pushed my black hair back from the increasingly intense wind storm that was around the edges of the cliff, and looked up into the sky where sat a crescent moon. I looked down at her small definite shape. Her skin was pale in the light, her hair whipping around in the wind but never revealing her face, as the little black dress she wore that hugged her body until it got to her waist as it flowed out and cut off at her knees. I looked down at her feet and look at her feet where she was wearing black beaten up old converse.

“Do you trust me?” she asked but never fully looking at me. I watched her with curiosity as she barely looked up and that's when I got the amazing glimpse of those eyes. Her eyes. The one's that seem to catch me and hold me to her. I looked down at our still entwined fingers and noticed our skin matched perfectly. I realized that she was waiting on my answer when I looked back up to see her staring at me with fear in her eyes and a look of hoping I trusted her. All I could do was nod and she pulled us forward, over the cliffs edge and we leapt over the edge to our deaths, to my awaking.

I awoke five minutes before my alarm went off. I touched every part of my body to make sure I was still alive still breathing. I was fine. Thank god. I pulled the sheets away from myself to check my body for marks or bruising. Though, I didn't see any. Everything was still in tact and I was still in my boxers and black tank. All seemed fine. I looked around in my bedroom. It was still dark. I reached over to turn on my desk lap when I noticed, after I turned on my light, there was a black feather on the table. I picked it up and examined it thoroughly. Where had it come from? The feather was soft to the touch and had sort of a fresh new hair shine to it.

I placed it back onto the table as I sat myself up to get up out of bed. There was a draft in my room that I haven't felt before and I looked around to my window to see it propped open with a stick. What the hell? I was up and prepared then. Standing up off my bed, I took a couple strides to reach into my bottom drawer dresser where inside laid my knife. I picked it up and extended my arm towards the window as I crept over slowly to it.

I looked out my window and saw nothing but another black feather that laid on the window sill. Pushing the window back close, I heard that stupid annoying beeping sound of the alarm clock busting through the silence. Bringing me back down to reality. I shook my head thinking I could just be losing it. I let the thoughts flow out of my head as I grabbed a black tee, skinny jeans, my chain that clipped to my wallet, and the rest of my stuff like my arm bracelets and etc...

I usually take me up to an hour but I got finished in less than 20 minutes at the most. The feeling of anxiety filled within me as I thought more and more on the details of the girl in my dream. I wanted to be finished and be out of the house. I was in need of fresh air. I wanted to go to the one place I felt safe. Though, as strange as it seemed. It was the park. The park right down the street. Most of the time when I got into fights with my mom's boyfriend (all because he kept calling me a fag or whatever. He believed he could tough me out of my “gayness”. Dick), I would go to the park and sit on the swing and stay there for hours. But it wasn't like anyone cared that I was missing. Or even gone.

I looked at myself at myself in my closet mirror. My skin was pale, my eyes were that huge bright blue that even though the popular girls hated me, they swooned over. My eyes actually glowed a strange neon blue that I've never seen on anyone else. Just like her eyes. I've never seen that bright of a green before.

I shook my head. What is wrong with me? I'm dreaming of some random girl. A girl that didn't even exist. Sigh, the girl that had my heart from one look into her eyes. That's why she hadn't looked at me really in my dream. Maybe she didn't want me to fall for her? Maybe she didn't want me to get hooked onto some imagination. Some pathetic dream.

I walked out of my room and down the hall where I grabbed my jacket, and the keys to the bird (my car). My car was a slick black and I loved it. I stepped out into the morning fog of Maryland. It was thick and hard to see through but that wasn't a bother to me. School wouldn't start for another hour so I had plenty of alone time to myself. I got inside my bird (again the car) and started her up as she rumbled and revved. I smiled because this was to most wonderful thing I loved in the whole world. Well, not more than my little sister who was 13 years old, a splitting image of me but only had blonde hair and a softer face. She was also weird and annoying but hey! What are you going to do, you know?

Sigh, most people would have found it weird that even as a senior, I still liked to go swing at the park. That was not cool according to most of my friends, so I keep these little moments to myself. I backed the bird out of the driveway before turning left and heading down the street in the thick fog. I began to slow down when the sign that said Midway Parks shined from my head lights. Pulling up to the curb, I turned off the bird and got out slowly looking in every direction to make sure I was going to get hit by another unseen vehicle. I moved swiftly around the front of the car as my converse hit the grass and my chain clanked against my pants. The distance to the swings weren't far but the fog made it seem like it was miles away.

I took each step without a care in the world because I knew where I was heading and I knew what I wanted to do. As I noticed the bars and swings start showing themselves in the distance, there was a someone on one of the swings. A girl even. I seen that she had long amazing black hair, small features, and what looked like to be...wings? I noticed she wasn't looking at me, but up at the moon. A crescent that shined so bright out of the fog. It illuminated her, and I could see the she had an olive tone to her skin. She was interesting to look at.

I took a step forward and stepped onto a stick that seemed to echo within the darkness. I swore silently to myself as she looked over at me. I looked at her and saw nothing but green eyes that seemed to glow, shine at me. Her eyes looked exactly like the girl in my dream. All of a sudden, I was taking faster steps towards her like she was pulling me in. She stood from the swing; her wings seemed to dwarf her. They expanded up and out flowing passionately to the ground. Slick and silky black. She turned from me and started running deeper into the darkness.

I ran after her passing the swings up. Tripping over the wood chips in the playground but continued to run after her. I came to a sudden halt at the old oak tree. I had lost the direction she was and I didn't hear her running anymore. Yet, again, I didn't fully see her face. Those eyes though. Her figure. The only thing that didn't match was that she had wings. I must really be losing it. Either that girl was wearing fake wings or my imagination was fucking with my mind. I shook my head and heard the light sound of wings beating. I looked up to see a large mass flying into the deep intense fog and out of my view.

***************************************

I pulled the bird up in front of my best friend's house. Ivy. Ivy was a little bit smaller than me. She had such soft features, bright blonde hair that had black on the bottom of it. She wasn't small like the girl I dreamed about. She was my best friend since we were little. I knew I could trust her for anything.

There was a small path that lead up to her family's big house. I walked up it slowly, fog was still thick and it made a feeling of being claustrophobic. I came up onto the big red door but before I could knock she opened the door. “Hey! Oh my god! I'm happy to see you,” she said as she stepped aside to let me in. She was wearing a long sleeve shirt under a tight short sleeve that was black. She had on a small black skirt with fishnets. Don't get me wrong. She was a beautiful girl but I could never look at her in that way.\

Her eyes were blue like mine but they never glowed like mine did. I loved her fishnets though. They really showed off her legs. Her house was big and was extremely creme color. In the corner at a huge flat screen television, all around were huge mocha brown couches and chairs, and a large glass coffee table. She had her bag on the couch and she was sitting there waiting. I walked over and had a seat.

“Why you here so early?” she asked curious. I shrugged and pulled her up into a hug.

“Maybe because I missed you. I'm I not allowed to?” I asked as I held her to me. I reached over and picked up her bag and grabbed her hand and pulled her over by the door. “Let's get to school before I just lay down on your couch and go to sleep.”
