Chapter 9:

Luca's P.O.V

They were sad. No, that was an understatement. They were heartbroken. I was heartbroken. I couldn't move. No, it's not that I couldn't move, I didn't want to. I believed that if I moved, it meant that what I just witnessed, what just broke my heart, didn't happen.

I just wanted to sit there and pretend that I haven't been locked away in a cell for the last eight months. I just wanted to sit there and pretend that the most important person to me didn't spend eight months of her life trying to save me and two other people. I just wanted to sit there and pretend that...

"Luca!" I jumped and my head turned to Nicki. Oh, I moved. Damn it, I was doing so well. "Luca... are you okay?" I nodded.

"Fine. I just... need some air." Before I could stop myself, I stood up and walked out of the bungalow that we suddenly appeared in. It was a decent-sized backyard. I wandered over to the far side, away from the bungalow. I sat down on the ground and I frowned at it.

The ground, the earth, the creator of all life. That was what Aria was to me. I loved her, but not in a crush way. My life was darkness, yet when I met Aria... I felt like I was the earth, but I hadn't seen a glimpse of the sun, and I had only seen the dark side of the moon. Aria was my sun, and she made my life better. Being different was hard, but with Aria by my side, treating me as an equal, I don't think I'd ever felt better.

But now, this ground below me. It was no longer happy and vibrant thanks to the sun, it was dry and sad and dying. Wait... what?! My eyes widened as I watched the ground underneath me dry up and the water the I assumed came from it, was sitting in a statuesque shape in front of me. It was a statue of Aria. I smiled at it. Sure, I was weirded out right now, but I'm looking at Aria, how could I not be sad?

"How are you doing that?" I jumped as my eyes widened and my gaze turned to a boy in a chair... a wheelchair? I turned back to the Aria statue, but the water had already sunken back down into the ground and the grass was slowly returning to normal.

"I... I don't know..." I really didn't.

"Who are you? And... what are you doing in my yard?" I frowned,

"Sorry, I'm here with... Felix...?" I think that was his name. I wasn't really listening when introductions went down.

"My brother, Felix... has friends over?" I nodded slowly pointing to the bungalow.

"Go look if you want to." To be honest, I didn't want to look at this kid any longer, he was kinda cute. Fuck I hated being different like this!

"No, I'm more interested in you. Are you a witch too?" I nodded, so this kid knows about magic. That might be helpful.

"Yeah, water element. What about you?" The boy shrugged,

"I'm spirit... if that makes any sense." I laughed lightly as I stared at the ground, not wanting to look at the cute boy.

"Yeah, that makes perfect sense." The boy laughed in return and was looking around, not keeping his eyes on me.

"So, Mysterious Boy in my backyard, what's your name?" I bit my lip, holding in a laugh as I realised that I hadn't introduced myself.

"I'm Luca Thompson. And you are...?" The boy grinned widely, holding his hand out to me.

"Oscar Ferne!" I smiled at him, grabbing his warm hand in mine.

"Nice to meet you, Oscar Ferne!" The warmth of his hand spread through my body, and when he squeezed my hand, I thought my heart was going to leap out of my chest.

"And you, Luca Thompson." I think I may have found a new sun, but a different type of sun.

Ellen's P.O.V

"Umm, is that Luca kid your water element?" I pulled my gaze from Luca and Oscar in the garden to the group, and I watched as Adam and Nicolette nodded.

"Yeah, how did you know?" Nicolette was the one asking. I'm surprised she's staying together as well as she is right now, considering she just lost her sister to a demon. Well, I guess that's how Aria felt... but... she didn't have anyone to help her.

"Just a guess," I muttered, my mind flashing to the water figure Luca created. Their elemental powers must be showing already. "Which one of you is fire and which is air?" Adam sighed,

"I'm air. Now, why the hell are you asking?!" I raised my brows in shock, well he's a fucking dick. I sighed, rolling my head back as I tried to get over the pain that stopped us in our tracks earlier.

"Because you are going to be developing powers soon. Luca's have already shown. Don't worry, with a bit of control you'll understand how to use them correctly." Adam frowned,

"What the hell are you blabbering on about?" I sighed again and turned to Felix, hoping for some backup in this, but he was sitting there in his armchair, a grim look on his face,

"Felix... some backup please." Felix didn't respond. I frowned and walked over to him, sitting myself down in front of him. "Felix..." I reached a hand up to touch him, but the heat radiating from my shot my hand back.

"Ellen, are you oka...?" Nicolette was cut off as the ground below us began shaking. Adam and Nicolette were shocked, but when I turned to Sam, he was just as annoyed as I was.

"Was that Jake?" Sam nodded his gaze out the window. I stood up and moved so that I was next to Sam, following his gaze to find Andy and Jake standing down the driveway.

"What are we gonna do? Those two won't know how to react and Felix is out of it." I frowned and turned my gaze to the other two to see Adam holding Nicolette close to him, keeping her safe.

"We need to talk to them. Get them to understand. But it will be hard, they don't trust Aria, and now that these three are here with powers too, are they really going to be the listening type?" Sam frowned.

"Look, Dude, your dating one and I'm best buds with the other. If we can't do this, no one can." As soon as Sam finished his sentence, another tremor occurred and Sam and I were out the door. Oscar and Luca were making their way towards the bungalow.

"Ellen, what was that?!" Oscar yelled to me,

"It's Jake. Look, it's a long story. You and Luca stay over there or get in the bungalow, just don't come near us right now." Oscar frowned and turned his head to Luca.

"What's going..." Luca shook his head and pushed Oscar towards the bungalow.

"Not right now. We can all explain later. Obviously, this isn't our fight." Oscar frowned before allowing Luca to push them into the bungalow. I then ran to Sam who was slowly trying to approach Jake.

"Sam, Ellen, you need to get away from the bungalow. We're going to destroy it and destroy that girl, Aria, inside of it!" I growled.

"Aria isn't in the bungalow you Idiots!" the ground stopped shaking and Jake was furious.

"Don't lie to us! We can see her standing there! She's not even trying to hide!" I turned around to see Nicolette.

"No, you don't understand. That's her sister, Nicolette. She came to Bremin to get Felix's dimension-hopping spell so that she could go to another dimension to save her sister and the rest of her coven! She's not evil, but she just sacrificed herself so that all of us could return safely." Jake stopped his advance, but he was still confused.

"What do you mean?" I sighed, we were getting through. Andy... he still looks hesitant though. This was going to be hard than I thought.

"Andy... she isn't evil, and she isn't in there. We aren't lying." It was breaking my heart than Andy didn't believe me. We were dating, yet he still wouldn't hear the truth. Where had I heard that one before? Oh yeah, when they were first using magic, Andy refused to believe that it was magic and thought it was science. Sounds like me, but I didn't think it was science.

"How do we know you aren't under any spells?!" I frowned.

"None of us have a banshee scream. But even then, they wouldn't understand." I muttered these words to Sam who nodded in agreement.

"What about the spell you used on Aria? If you can get Jake or Andy to cast it with the right emotions it will tell them the truth." My eyes widened and a bright smile crossed my face.

"Sam, you're a genius!" Sam beamed brightly,

"Of course I am... wait what? Did anyone record that?!" Sam looked around hoping that maybe someone did before he sighed and turned back to me.

"You guys need to cast the spell that I used earlier today. If it affects us, that proves that you can't trust us. But you guys have to cast the spell correctly! If you don't, then it will backfire like mine did today." Andy looked sceptical, but Jake looked ready to jump on the bandwagon.

"What do you mean 'backfired'?" I sighed, will they actually listen this time?

"When I used the spell earlier today, I used my strongest emotion, which was hate. But there's a catch with that spell. You need to use your strongest positive emotion. Since I used negative, it gave me the wrong answer, and it led you to believe that Aria was the bad guy. You need to understand, the demon, Demarko, he's the bad guy."

"I'll do it." The words blurted out of Jake's mouth and he instantly began casting the spell. My body relaxed slightly and I felt a wave of magic wash over me, but nothing happened. I smiled and turned to Sam who was smiled back at me.

"See. Jake can trust us. Can you Andy?" Andy frowned.

"I'm sorry, but I can't. I'm not casting that spell. I don't trust it. I'm going to find another way to make sure that you aren't under a spell. Until then, I will keep on fighting you." I frowned and I felt my heart beginning to break.

"Well then, if there isn't any trust... then I guess there's no need to be in a relationship any longer. Goodbye, Andy." I turned around and made my way back into the bungalow, ignoring Andy's calling out to me. Sam and Jake entered the room after me, closing the door and locking it. The room was quite cramped now, and I made my way over to Felix's bed, sitting on the edge of it as I began crying.

Nicolette noticed and she came running over to me, pulling me into a tight hug. I couldn't help it, at the comfort, the sobs began coming out of me at a rate even stronger than before.

"I'm sorry. We caused this." I shook my head and was about to respond when Adam talked,

"No, we did. Ellen, you cannot argue against this. If we did not allow ourselves to become weak hostages of Demarko than we would not be in this situation, and everything would be right with the world. For whatever has happened since Aria appeared, we will take the blame for it, since it was for us, that Aria has done everything she has for the past few months."

"He's right you know." Nicolette pulled herself from my front and sat next to me on the bed, pulling me in for a side hug as I sobbed on her shoulder. "It is our fault that anything negative has occurred. So we will work to fix it. We swear, that we will do everything we can to make all of us strong, we will all be strong enough to take on Demarko, and recuse my sister." She was right. Now was no time to be weak, we have to save Aria.

"Awesome... that's great and all... but what the hell's going on? And why hasn't my brother moved since I got here?" My head turned to Oscar, who wore a confused look on his face, as did Jake.

"Well..."
