Chapter 2
I was speechless more or less every minute and kind of confused. They were laughing and I couldn’t really keep up with their conversation. “Hey, I’m Lina.” A part of me felt dumb because I thought that was the right thing to say or maybe it wasn’t because I didn’t even know where the conversation left off at.
“Oh hey, I’m Sam.” She smiled. I thought, what kind of name was Sam? I mean who you name their daughter Sam.
“This is my Girlfriend.” Alex looked down at the sand.
“Cool, well I have to leave I got plans with Anna, see you around. Bye guys.” I waved at them. I just lied about having plans but, I guess it can still happen. I couldn’t stop thinking about him whispering sorry. I was happy he didn’t kiss me in the lips because that would have been a whole new problem. I walked to Anna’s house and saw her from the window waving at me.
“Hey, Linaa! Woah. Why are you all wet?” She raised a brow.
“Can I borrow some clothes, please?” After changing I spilled the beans About Alex starting from the night of the party to now.
“Well so what if he has a girlfriend, go get him!” She tried to persuade me but, it wasn’t working.
“I actually want to be good friends with him. I don’t want a relationship at all. He can find a way better girl than me. I think being friends is the best and also not him because just not him.” I lied to myself and for how long will I lie. I felt something with him and something really special, but GOD not Alex.
“Okay, whatever you but, you guys make a cute couple. He is really a good guy.”
We ended up putting makeup and dressing up and posing for pictures. Suddenly there were noises coming from down stairs. Anna’s parents weren’t home then who were? We both headed down and saw Jack and Alex sitting on the couch.
“Hey, girls.” Jake smiled.
“Hey, losers.” Anna went and joined them on the couch.
I was the only one left there standing once again with a stiff smile trying to figure out what to say next. I sat across Alex staring at him to search for an answer. “Hey, what’s up?”
Jake shrugged his shoulder. “Nothing, got tried and decided to come home.” I noticed Alex was still quite staring at the T.V. But I knew he wanted to say something and just couldn’t.
“Stay over tonight Lina.” Anna pleaded. “It’ll be fun, please.”
“Not today, I can’t because nobody’s home and I don’t even know if Adam is home or not. He barely is home these days.
“Exactly, you’ll be by yourself. Come on please.” Anna whined.
“Sorry another time, I’m going head out now, so text me.” I waved at them and without looking or hearing anything I left. I was feeling a bit uncomfortable.
“Wait up Lina” I turned back as Alex yelled from a block away.
“What happened?” I relaxed a bit.
“Nothing just wanted to walk you home and talk for awhile.” He said in a soft tone. We walked and walked. “Sam is one of my good friends and I don’t we just decided to go out and give it a try.”
“Cool that’s nice.” I smiled.
“She’s nice.”
“Cool that’s nice.” I heard myself repeating the same words.
“She lives in New York.”
“Cool that’s nice.”
“We broke up today.”
“Cool that’s nice.”
“Huh?”
“Cool that’s nice.” I felt I slap across my arm and that just woke up me up to where I was day dreaming. “What was that for.”
“Well here I’m sharing my feeling with you and your saying the same thing over and over ‘Cool that’s nice.’ What are you thinking, wow you are a bad listener and you say we a good friends.”
I looked dumbfounded for moment realizing I was a robot which made me laugh and made him laugh too. “So what were you saying again?”
“We broke up, Sam and I.” he looked at me for a reaction. But I thought wow that’s awesome now I have him afterall. I also thought he is better off with another girl.
“Oh. That’s kind of sad. You guys were a cute couple.” I lied. “Well don’t worry there lots of girls out there and I know a few girls too if you want.”
“Uh huh, okay.” He looked at me as if he just fell from the sky.
“Okay. I’m not into relationships I want to wait for the right guy, maybe when I start college. I just have so much on my plate now. I’m just looking for a friend that’s all.” I added to make him know whatever intentions or gut feeling he had thought about me was diminished forever.
“Oh, I see. Hey I’m always here for you whenever you need me, because we are friends after all.
“Yup.” I felt this conversation was getting more awkward but he always knew how to make things back to normal because as soon as we heard music he grabbed my hand and we started running towards the music. It was like what two days and it’s like we were friends from a long time. I told myself to enjoy it while it lasts.
“Come It’s a party let’s check it out.” He looked ecited.
“No. I’m not even dressed right just look at me.” I whinned
“You look perfect. Just one thing needs to done.” He reached for my hair letting go the ponytail and putting half of my hair in the front. “There now you are perfect.”
I blushed uncontrollably and we both walked thru the front door blending in with crowd. “I love this song.”
“Yeah? No way me too.” He held my waist and I placed my hands on his shoulders. We both said the same words ‘para para paradise oohhohhhohhh.’ “You know Lina this should be our song.”
I laughed. “Sure even though this is gay, I like the sound of that.” We both laughed and just skunked into each other’s eyes. Here I am in some random person’s party dancing to my favorite song with Alex, can live get any better? After singing and dancing he dropped me home. Nobody was home. I got ready for bed and laid there thinking about him. After while my cell beeped and it was none other than Alex and the thought of his name made my blush. And so we texted.
‘Hey, dimples sleeping yet?’
‘Not yet. Wow about you Al?’
‘Woo, my new nickname Al, sounds girly.’
‘So? Sounds great to me.’
‘Fine whatever you like sunshine.’
I smiled after that text because he was my sunshine in my life. He brings the light to my world. After texting back and forth for hour it already morning. And from there I fell asleep.
Months passed by and things were going great. Alex and I couldn’t stay away from other. Sometimes Anna felt Alex was taking me away from her and Jake felt Alex had no time for him. They all complained but, Alex and I enjoyed our times together and didn’t care much because four of us were always together. Alex and Jake always tagged along when Anna and I walked to school. We were so close to each other not only in our free times but in school too. Even during classes we passed notes to each other despite having cell phone passing notes seemed classic and more fun. Even after junior year, senior year wasn’t bad since we had no classes together. We were still good friends. Alex dated some girls and I went on some dates but, I never enjoyed it because half the time I was thinking of Alex. Although I in dates I managed to slip away and go to the beach where Alex works part time. He taught my some swimming technique and even taught me how to swim on my back. I knew in the end Alex was the on for me.

Present time…..
We linked our arms and started walking to school. After I met up with Anna, Alex left to look for Jake. After my classes I headed to the library to check out some books.
“Lina!” Anna hugged me from the back.
“Hmm.” I smiled.
“Come on let’s go shopping. I need a skirt.” Anna pleaded while her phone beeped. Soon after a few minutes of pleading me she finally checked her messages, she was stoned. She barely moved nor spoke. Just then after a few seconds a few tear drops fell down to her cheeks. She came around me and cried on my shoulder and then I knew who texted her. My eyes grow wide because I it said ‘Hey Ann,I’m coming home, James.’
