"Ah, I'm exhausted," Jisoo breathes heavily as she lies on the floor of the dance room.
"Nado," Jennie agrees, lying down also.
"You guys are weak sauce," I tease, sitting down on the floor.
"Well, we don't dance 24/7 like you," Jennie defends.
"Pft, I don't dance twent-
"'four seven, I only dance when I done with school.'" Jennie mocks. I shoot her a glare and stick my tongue out at her.
"So, who do you like in iKON?" Jisoo asks.
"I don't have a favorite," I shake my head.
"What she really means is; I do have one, but I'm not gonna tell anyone," Jennie adds. I shoot her a glare to shut her up before turning back to Jisoo.
"Who's your favorite?" I ask.
"Oh, uhm," Jisoo blushes. What a cutie. "It's B-Bobby."
"Ah, him? He took you to auditions right?" I ask. Jisoo nods, the blush still evident on her cheeks.
"Hey guys!" A new voice exclaims. It was another dancer, Lisa. She usually hangs out with us, but I didn't see her earlier. She stands at the doorway, awaiting our attention.
"Oh hey, Lis. What's up?" Jennie asks.
"They're announcing the results right now," She says, breathless.
I glance the at the clock. 12:01 PM.
"Kaja!" Jennie says, getting up.
We leave the dance room and sprint to the other room where the rest are held. As we walk in, everyone notices since the door is at the front of the room. We quietly file into the rest of dancers, trying not to receive more attention.
"After lots of thinking and also help from the iKON members themselves, I have picked the 7 dancers that will be joining iKON in their performances. As I call your name, please come and stand up here with me."
"Hwang Seon Ah." A round of applause goes around as a girl approaches the front.
"Lisa." I whistle (AHA hwi param) and shout, "GO LIS!" I hear Jisoo and Jennie just as enthusiastic.
"Jennie Kim." I look over at Jennie with wide eyes as I hear her named called. She's frozen with shock for a moment before she makes her way to the front.
I clap extra hard as I yell out, "Yeah, JenNIE!" She gives me a smile of gratitude as she stands next to the other girls.
"Chang Ma Ri." I glance at Jennie and Lisa, as they both smile proudly.
"Yah, can you believe it? Jennie and Lisa made it in!" Jisoo whisper-exclaims.
"I know right, I'm so happy for-"
"Park Rose."
My gaze moves from Jisoo to the front, where Lisa and Jennie's faces are full of joy and Manager Lee is searching for my face.
"Yah, pali ka!" Jisoo pushes me. I stumble to the front and stand next to Ma Ri, exchanging looks with Jennie.
'We both made it!' She mouths. I look over and see Lisa giving me a smile in which I return.
'I know!' I mouth back. I face back front and listen as the next name is called.
"Baek Shin Go." Applause as another girl comes and stands by my side.
"And the last dancer to be announced; Choi Eunji"
I watch as Jisoo face falls, knowing she wasn't chosen. I glance over at Jennie and Lisa to find them staring at Jisoo as well. I look back at Jisoo and watch as her nose starts turning pink.
"Well, the 7 will meet back here at 2:00. Make sure you all have eaten lunch and are hydrated," Manager Lee says before walking out with the iKON boys.
The girls disperse, some leaving the room, others staying to talk to their friends. We all runover to Jisoo just as her first tear drops.
"Jisoo unnie, don't cry," Lisa comforts, wiping away her tear.
"I'm not...crying. I knew I wouldn't get in anyways," She shakes her head, wiping away the rest of the tears that were falling.
"Hey, let's go somewhere else," I whisper to them. She nods.
"Jisoo, it's okay," I say as we lead her to a different room.
"I'm..not crying," She says as we enter the practice room from before. I make sure to lock the door as Jennie, Lisa and Jisoo plop down on the floor.
"It's okay to cry," I say, as I pat Jisoo's back, sitting down next to her.
She releases from Jennie's embraces and cries into my shoulder.
"I tried, Rose, I really tried," She cries, gasping between each word.
"I know you did, you did your best," I rub her back.
"But my best wasn't good enough," She replies, sobbing even harder.
"That's the way things are. The important thing is you did your best and you enjoyed it," Jennie says.
She sniffles and lifts her head up from my shoulder but keeps her head down.
"Did you do your best?" Lisa asks. She slowly nods.
"Did you have fun?" Jennie questions. She again slowly nods.
"Then that's all you should worry about," I sigh, giving her a tight hug.
"But I...I want be up on stage dancing too. Like you guys. I wanted people to admire my dancing and think I'm a good dancer," She sighs, sniffling once more.
"Yah, you are a good dancer. You've come so far from when you began," Jennie protests.
"But, you guys are way better. You put so much effort into your dancing. You guys lack nothing, while I lack...everything," She slumps.
"Yah, we lack in so many things too, Jisoo," I add.
"I don't know. Maybe I should just quit being a dancer and focus on school."
"Yah! Get your head on straight, Kim Jisoo!" Jennie exclaims.
"Yah, we've been through so much together. You can't quit now. There are so many more opportunities that will come. You can't quit over this one!" I agree.
"This should motivate you to want to work harder and become better instead of sulking by yourself," Lisa says.
Jisoo hangs her head and lets her hair cover her voice. I sigh and rub her back.
"Jisoo, what we're trying to say is; you can't quit over a simple event. There are going to be many more opportunities."
She looks up and gives up a small smile. "Thanks Rose. You guys too, Lis and Jennie."
"Anything for my unnie," Jennie ruffles Jisoo's hair.
"Ah yah, hajima!" She squeals, swatting away her hand. "I'm hungry. Do you guys wanna eat?"
I look at Jennie and Lisa and look back at Jisoo and nod. "I'm up for some food."
"Kaja, why don't you wash your face and then we'll go eat?" Lisa suggests. She nods and Jennie gets up, helping Jisoo stand up as well. I stand up as well and we leave the room and bring Jisoo to the bathroom.
"We'll wait out here so come out when you're done," I say. Jisoo nods and heads into the bathroom.
"We have to be back by 2, right?" I ask. Jennie nods.
"We have so much time to kill," Lisa says, glancing at the watch on her wrist.
"I know, right? I guess we can just hang out for a while," I shrug.
"I'm back," Jisoo says as she comes out of the bathroom.
"Kaja! I'm so hungry," Jennie says.
"Agreed," I laugh.
