Walking down the halls of the D building, my eyes travelled around the unfamiliar rooms, until I found a door that had a detention sign at the end of the long corridor.

The school was nearly empty, only a student here and there roaming seeing it was a Friday today. Most people with lives had somewhere to be, doing God knows what, but I was supposed to be home, reading The Great Gatsby right now. I usually never went out on Fridays, only because it was just like every other day. I was probably the most low-maintenanced person out there.

I walked in, about four people in the room already. I knew no one in the room so I immediately made a beeline to the back of the room and sat in a desk with a pout.

The teacher at the front looked at a list she had as she glanced at the people in the room before marking the sheet.

"Does anyone know if Christoffer was here by any chance?" She asked no one in particular. The room remained silent as I sighed, tapping my foot impatiently. I knew I had to be here for another hour, and I was already thinking about the better things I could actually be doing right now.

As soon as she said that, Chris walked right in, nodding nonchalantly at her before his eyes searched the room.

I immediately sunk in my seat, slouching as I purposely hid my face, cursing softly.

"Hi, beautiful." I hear him whisper towards me as I sighed rolling my eyes.

"What do you want, Satan?" I blurted, furrowing my eyebrows.

He laughed, staring at me in amusement as he tilted his head. "Oh, was I the reason you got into detention?"

I ignored him, staring straight ahead. My jaw tightened, knowing I was better than stooping down to his childish level.

"What, don't tell me it's your first time in detention, bookworm." He teased, smirking.

"First of all, don't call me that. And second, yes in fact it is. Congratulations." I rolled my eyes.

A silence is shared between us, before my glare directs back to him. "You don't even know my name." I scoffed, fiddling with my fingers. From the corner of my eye, I could see him eyeing me with the same smug smirk on his face the second I first actually acknowledged his existence.

That was a mistake.

"Nina. Nina Olsen. Why wouldn't I know your name? Your braininess clearly doesn't go unnoticed."

"So why should you care? I thought you'd be satisfied with all the girls you've easily won over, but no. You'd go out of your way to get to me too, and it's just.. Obnoxious." I gushed, glancing at him with a frown settled on my face.

"Darling, I'm not trying to get to you. Don't be too absorbed in your precious pride." He licked his lips, raising his eyebrows.

"Good." I simpered in a coy manner, looking away. "Because if you think whatever you're doing will suddenly turn me into a brain-dead zombie for you, you're wrong. So, wrong."

I was surprised the teacher hadn't noticed us conversating, probably because we were all the way at the back of the room.

"I don't seem to agree with you on that." He chuckled. "But whatever you say, bookworm."

I glanced at the clock, sighing. My face fell at the unbelievable numbers mocking me right now. Five minutes had passed so far, the clock moving incredulously slow.

"Hey-"

"Don't, talk to me." I cut him off, pointing a finger at him.

I wanted to spend the rest of the fifty-five minutes I was here in silence, ignoring the hovering Chris to my left, and hopefully to get out without going absolutely crazy.

It's been about twenty minutes just sitting here, staring out in silence. I was beginning to grow bored, feeling as if the walls were closing in slowly by the minute. I was tapping my nails against the wooden desk, pursing my lips. Before I could glance at the clock again for the last five minutes, Chris sets a folded piece of paper in front of me. I glanced at him, but he smoothly pretended that he did nothing of the sort, staring at the front of the room aimlessly.

I sighed softly, reluctantly unfolding the note and reading the few words scribbled in a rushed manner.

Wanna ditch this place? Follow my lead. :)

I shook my head at him, furrowing my eyebrows sternly. "Chris, I can't."

"Come on, don't be a chicken." He joked, smiling lopsidedly.

"You think I'll leave with you just because you call me chicken?" I whispered, narrowing my eyes at him in disbelief.

"Yes." Chris remarked, nodding once before raising his hand.

"Yes, Christoffer?" The lady's eyes focused on him, pushing her specks up the bridge of her nose.

"I really don't feel good, could I go to the nurse's office?"

"Do you really think I'm going to buy that?" She tilted her head at him as he cleared his throat.

"I don't know, I mean unless you really want me to be sick in this classroom.." His voice trailed, as he shrugged.

Oh, he's good.

I hid an amused smile, staring down at the desk as I bit my lip.

"Fine, go ahead. Get out of here." She motioned him out as he got up, slinging his backpack over his shoulder.

"Walk out as soon as she isn't looking." He mumbled, leaning down to where I was sitting before quickly walking out of the classroom, a smirk on his lips.

My heart began to race, seeing as though I was nervous to just sneak out like that as I groaned softly. I looked around, realizing that there was now about twenty or so people in here now, so maybe I could actually get away with this. I fidgeted anxiously, praying silently in my head.

As soon as the woman had looked down, I counted off a few seconds before getting up quietly and gathering my stuff before tip toeing at the sidelines and slipping out of the room.

I breathed out, looking up and gasping when I nearly run into Chris who looked just as surprised. "Woah, watch out where you're going, Olsen."

"I can't believe you just made me do that." I panicked slightly, following him as he began to walk swiftly down the rest of the hall.

Why exactly did I just do that? Yeah, it should be because he was dangling it right in front of me, calling me a chicken and all, but my inner conscience refused to believe it.

Chris held the exit door open for me, motioning me out as I crossed my arms over my chest. I walked out of the school, avoiding him. Yes, I was damn frustrated.

"Oh come on, Nina. Where are you going?" He pouted, easily catching up to me as we both sped walked down the uneven pavement.

"Anywhere far away from you!" I exclaimed, running my fingers through my long dark hair.

"Do you need a ride?" He asked anyway, ignoring my slight meltdown. He then jams his hands into his Penetrators hoodie, glancing down at me.

"No, I have to take the bus." I replied bluntly.

I walked to the bus stop, Chris still following me as I ignored him. My eyes widened, lips parting when I see the bus already there.

Running for it, I gasped. "Wait! Please, wait!"

Before I could get there, the bus of course leaves and I'm out of breath. "Dammit." I grumbled, closing my eyes. "That's just great!"

By this time, which is nearly 6PM, the bus doesn't come for another two hours.

Chris snickered, as I glared at him coldly.

"Ready for that ride now?"

I stood there, just staring at him in silence for at least a minute. I thought that maybe the longer I stared that he'd just give up and leave, but he didn't.

"Fine, whatever. Drive me home, that's it." I reluctantly replied.

He grinned, nodding once. "No promises."

"What is that supposed to mean?" I groaned, when he didn't answer and just walked slowly, waiting for me to follow him.

"Chris?" I whined, trudging behind him.
