It was a lovely day in magnolia, the sun was shining and the sky was clear, not a cloud to be seen. A certain raven haired male was sitting on his couch in his small apartment that felt a bit too big now.
Gray had once shared this apartment with someone who he cared for deeply, someone who equaled the love he gave, that is until the day Gray screwed up and that person was gone forever, the ice mage didn't even know if they were still alive, and he remembers this day as clear as a cloudless sky.
-Flash Back-
Natsu was out on a job with Happy trying to figure out how to change Natsu back to normal after being turned into a girl, and Gray was home, the ice mage decided to do a little house work and go to the market to get some groceries, which they were in need of, especially with the dragon slayer's appetite. Gray headed out to the market and picked up everything he needed but as he was leaving he passed a liquor cart and made a last minute decision to pick up some bottles of beer.
Natsu actually hated it when Gray drank because he usually drank himself drunk and then started acting like a total asshole, but Natsu's not here, is he?
Gray headed back to the apartment, unlocked his door and stripped his shoes before heading to the kitchen to pack away what he bought. He then opened a bottle of beer and began cleaning. By the time he finished it was a wonder that he actually finished at all due to him being so drunk he could barely stand up for more that a minute.
Gray sat at the table and layed his head down on it, and at the exact moment Gray's head hit the table Natsu walked through the door only to be met with the strong sense of cleaning supplies and booze. The scent was almost too much for the dragon slayer's sensitive nose to handle but it didn't stop 'her' from marching up to the raven sitting at the table with his eyes closed.
"GRAY FULLBUSTER!"
Gray jolted up off the seat only to land on the floor and spill the beer he was holding all over the floor and partly on his pants. "What the hell Natsu!"
"YOU'RE FREAKING DRUNK!!" Natsu shouted as 'she' snatched up the bottle that was still in Gray's hand.
Gray stood up and snatched the bottle back. "DON'T TOUCH MY BEER!"
'And cue asshole mode' Natsu thought as 'she' glared at the ice mage. Natsu grabbed for the rest of the bottles to throw them away only to have 'her' hand slapped by Gray. "I SAID DON'T FRICKIN' TOUCH IT!! IF YOU TOUCH IT AGAIN I WANT YOU OUT OF MY HOUSE, AND WE WILL BE THROUGH!"
Natsu stood there looking shocked and pissed off. "What?"
"Oh so now you're deaf, I said.."
Natsu cut the ice mage off and shouted "FINE! YOU DON'T WANT ME HERE I'LL JUST LEAVE NOW!!!" the fire mage stomped up the stairs and started packing 'her' stuff. Gray had followed 'her' and grabbed 'her' by 'her' arm as the fire mage dragged a suitcase onto the bed.
"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING!?"
"I'm leaving just like you wanted, ice bastard." Natsu's voice leaked venom as he spoke. "I'm done." 'she' finished packing 'her' suitcase and walked to the door with Gray following behind. "Have a nice life Gray." and then she/he was gone, never to be heard from again.
Gray stood there for a a nice few minutes before what had just happened dawned on him. He dropped to his knees and sobbed like a little baby for a good couple hours.
Natsu even left the Guild the next day.
-End of Flash Back-
Gray had started to cry a little again from the memory but stopped himself. 'There's no use crying anymore, he's not coming back' Gray thought to himself as he went upstairs to get dressed.
He was going to go to the guild today, he doesn't go everyday anymore but he thought that maybe he should break that habit. He walked over to the door, shoved on his shoes and his coat, whether or not he'll keep the darn thing on. He opened the door and was taken aback, there on his doorstep was a child, a boy at maybe the age of 6. the child was just about to knock when Gray opened the door so he was taken aback as well. The boy had hair that resembled his own in color but it spiked in all different directions, Like Natsu's. The boy's eyes were also the colors of the fire mage's eyes, a greenish brown. He was wearing a plain red t-shirt with black shorts and sandals but what shocked Gray the most about the boy's appearance was the white scaled scarf wrapped around his small neck.
Gray almost wanted to start crying again at the sight of the scarf but tried his hardest not to in front of the kid. He knelt down so he was at eye level. "Are you lost?"
"I'm looking for someone named Gray." He smiled at the ice mage in front of him but it was an exact image of Natsu's smile.
"What's his last name?"
"Um..Fullbuster!"
Gray looked shocked for a minute before smiling. "My name is Gray Fullbuster, now what's you're name?"
"I'm Silver Dragneel!"
Gray almost fell over at the mention of his father's name and the Dragneel name. he gawked at the child until there was a small hand waving in front of his face. "Papa are you okay?"
'Did he...did he just call me papa?' Gray's eyes widened "What did you call me?"
"I called you Papa, cause you're my papa! Daddy told me so!" The kid pouted and Gray thought it was the cutest thing ever.
"Who's your dad?"
"His name is Natsu." Silver smiled again.
Gray was still shocked but also really confused, this kid is Natsu's kid? and his? 'How?! wait...Don't tell me...this happened when Natsu was still a girl...'
"Um, Well come with me then, I'm going to my guild." He smiled down at the child and held out his hand.
"I get to see Fairy Tail!!" The kid's eyes sparkled so brightly and Gray found his heart melting at the sight. He had always adored kids.
"You've heard of it?"
"Daddy told me that Fairy Tail was like one big family and that my papa was part of it!" he exclaimed excitedly.
Gray chuckled and led the boy to his guild who he was now the guild master of. As they stepped through the doors all eyes landed on the boy who was now on top of Gray's shoulders. The boy's eyes lit up as they entered the huge building. All the girls had squealed and shouted 'so cute!' when they noticed Silver, well all except Juvia who was crying and mumbling 'Gray-sama already has a child!??'
Almost everyone surrounded Gray and asking him questions about the child such as 'who's the mother?!', 'is he your's??' and 'Why are we only now seeing him!?'
Gray noticed that they were making the boy uncomfortable and shooed everyone away saying that he'll answer questions later. The ice mage lifted Silver off his shoulders and placed him down on the floor beside him, he grabbed a hold of the boys hand and led him over to a table with Erza and Lucy.
"Can you watch him for a minute?" Gray asked the two awestruck females.
"Of course!" Lucy chirped as Gray sat the kid down across from them.
Gray then bent down to be level with Silver. "Its okay, I'll be right back, They're my closest friends, they wont hurt you" He gave the kid a reassuring smile before getting up and headed over to the bar and sat down across from Mira who was looking at him with a smile on her face.
"Hello Gray!"
"Hey, Mira. I need to ask you something."
"Okay, What is it?" she asked placing the mug she was cleaning onto the counter top.
"That potion that Natsu accidentally drank...how long does it last?"
"hmm" She placed a finger to her lips as she tried to remember. "about a year, why?"
"the kid over there said his dad was Natsu and his other parent was me" Mira squealed after Gray said that.
"Gray! That's amazing! you're a father!" She exclaimed as Gray chuckled.
Gray looked back over at the kid who was now sitting on Lucy's lap with a grin on his face. This brought a smile to his own face as well.
"Gray, If he's here and is being honest than Natsu's not that far away."
Gray became lost in thought at Mira's words and thought to himself 'Natsu could be back...'
