Suzy's POV

I was being a normal couch potato when the doorbell suddenly rang, causing me to jolt a bit.

Walking to the door and opening it, I received quite a shock.

"Aren't you Ji-eun's boyfriend?" I asked, staring at the guy standing outside the door.

"Uhm. No. I was wondering if I could ask you something." Taehyung said, fidgeting with his hands.

"Me?" I asked skeptically, raising my eyebrows even though I was slightly pleased.

He nodded in confirmation.

"Well, you can come in." I opened the door a little wider to let him in.

We both plopped down on the sofa after I brought him something to drink.

"So. What do you want to ask me about?"

"Oh. When I was talking to Ji-eun the other day at school-"

"Oh, you mean that day when I walked in on you two rolling around snogging on the floor?" I interrupted, grinning.

To my surprise, he started laughing.

"Oh. That." He started awkwardly after he stopped laughing.

"Well, it was an accident." he continued unconvincingly.

At the unbelieving look on my face, he added, "Well, Ji-eun is a really nice person, but I'd rather continue being friends with her rather than start a relationship." he said, a bit too fast.

Something in the way he moved and spoke told me that he wasn't being completely truthful, but he didn't seem like a 'Jungkook' so it should be fine.

"Omo, aren't you honest." I said, my voice hinting sarcasm.

Apparently he didn't catch the sarcasm, so he looked relieved and grinned a square smile at me.

A little laugh escaped me without my permission. "So back to the point. What did you want to ask me about?"

"I have some free time this weekend, so can you go somewhere with me?"

"Erm. Are you sure you're talking to the right person?"

He seemed to understand what I thought he meant.

"Oh, no, not what you're thinking." he said quickly. "Ji-eun's birthday is coming up, and I know you're her closest friend, so I was wondering if you could help me pick something out for her. Also," he said, taking a break from talking for a breath, "we should throw her a little party. Maybe bake her a cake or something."

He looked really eager, and his request was so sweet that I couldn't help but be enthusiastic about this idea too. Plus, I was inwardly exploding with glee at the thought that IU had talked about me to Taehyung, and that he actually remembered me.

"That actually sounds pretty good." I admitted. "We can go and pick something out for her tomorrow, since her birthday is on the weekend."

He grinned his square smile again, and said "See you after school then! I need to go now, because I have the keys to the apartment that I share with Jungkook. Bye!" he said cheerfully as he walked towards the door.

He turned the doorknob and pushed on the door, which resisted. He then frowned  and rattled it again, this time harder.

"Yah! You're gonna break the door!" I snickered from the couch. "It's something called a lock, you know?"

Looking flustered, he quickly unlocked the door, said goodbye again, and darted out, his face slightly flushed.

Once he left, I let out a sigh of relief. It was soooo hard to keep my cool back there. Taehyung is soooo adorable. I gushed as I cleaned up our drinks, dumping what was left into the kitchen sink and loading the cups into the dishwasher.

And, whenever he smiled, I couldn't help but laugh too. Square smiles are awesome, and they suited him nicely.

IU's POV

Well, bad thing is that I'm completely beat and really want to take a nap right here, right now.

Good thing is that Jungkook and I, well, mostly me, don't want to tear out the others' throat anymore.

We were sitting next to each other, our heads slumped on the table, completely exhausted from all the work that Ms. Ryong made us do. I was facing the window, and he was facing the other way.

"Yah. Why're you always so annoying?" I questioned, out of the blue.

"Yah, why're you such a big pabo?" He answered.

I silently turned my head so that I was facing the back of his head. He was actually quite close, and I could smell the faint scent of his shampoo.

"You're good." I admitted, thinking about all the ways I could've answered my own question wrong.

"It's the matter of being smart and good looking." He said wearily. "Now please be quiet, and no," he said, cutting me off as I was about to speak. "you don't get to say anything because this is your fault."

To be honest, I was a little hurt. I thought that we had established a basic friendship through killing each other and him being insufferable.

He sighed, interpreting my silence correctly.

"Yah-" he turned his head around, only to find our faces a few inches from each other. His eyes widened and we held each others' gazes for a few charged seconds, then he quickly turned back around.

"Well, don't be so sulky. You look uglier when you're down." He muttered.

I was still recovering from the shock of his face being so close to mine, by taking deep, silent breaths in an effort to calm this strange, abnormally fast heartbeat. I turned my head back to face the window.

"Well...at least I look better than you do." I managed, struggling to sound normal.

I heard him lifted his head off the desk and the scraping of the chair against the floor as he got up, and I lifted my head off the desk too, watching him.

"I'm going home. See you tomorrow." he said tightly, and walked out the door of the classroom without looking backwards.

I sighed, my heartbeat finally calming down at the sight of his retreating back.

One thing for certain. We might not hate each other anymore, but he definitely wasn't good for me. I frowned and pressed my hand to my chest, certain that these were the early signs of arrhythmia .

Jungkook's POV

One thing for certain. She's the only girl I've met so far that has left a lasting impression on me.

Later...

Taehyung's POV

"Jie-eun's birthday is tomorrow." I chirped to Jungkook as soon as he came in the door.

He stopped halfway when taking off his shoes. "Jinjja?"

"Yeah, and my birthday is a day before hers." I reminded him.

"Well, nobody cares about your birthday." he scoffed. "We should celebrate hers though." He added thoughtfully.

I scowled. "Yah! If it weren't for me, you wouldn't even know that her birthday is coming up!" I sighed, exasperated.

Jungkook then retreated to our room quickly, and I could hear drawers closing and opening. He was probably concocting something poisonous in there.

I sat at the desk while idly trying to do homework, twirling my pencil and thinking about what to get for Ji-eun.

The next day after school.....

I waved Suzy over while trying to camouflage as one of the dying bushes outside our school's gates.

"Pali pali! She might see us!" I urged while tracking her progress across the platform from my world class hiding spot.

When she finally got to the gates of the school I immediately grabbed her by the hand and pulled her into my car. The only thought I had at that time was not to be spotted.

"Do you have any good ideas so far?" I immediately asked her once I recovered from the sprinting. "Because I have a few good ones." I said, grinning.

She laughed and crinkled her nose. "I have the perfect gift for her, and I also have an idea of what you should give her." she said excitedly while nearly bouncing up and down.

"Well then. Kaja!" I said, revving the engine and pulling out of the parking lot.

We arrived at the mall without any mishaps thanks to Suzy's amazing directing skills. Although I did have this close shave with a lamp post that was just too much in the way, but really, that doesn't count.

The mall itself was rather impressive, with five stories all packed with shoppers milling around even though it was a late afternoon on a Thursday.

"It's..." I trailed off, not knowing how to express my concern of spaces with lots of people.

"You'll be fine." Suzy said impatiently. "Here," she said, patting a hat on my head and sticking a pair of sunglasses on my face. "I brought those for disguise so you won't die because of fans."

She stepped back a little to survey her work, and snorted a little bit.

"Yup. Completely unrecognizable and extremely fashionable." she said while trying not to laugh.

I sighed. "Aish. Jinjja. Let's go already, at least before the sun sets." I said, rolling my eyes.

"Arasseo. Kaja!" She said brightly, linking her arm through mine and nearly tugging it off while pulling me in the general direction of the crowd.

We walked through the crowd, and I attracted a few stares with my 'disguise' and all, but we got through ok, which was a relief.

In a quieter section, Suzy pulled me through some doors into a small store. Inside, there were shelves and rows and endless columns of art supplies. From everything from paint to textured paper, it was so colorful that I was momentarily overwhelmed.

"So we need to get her the colored pencils, a new set of charcoal ones, and some high quality paper for her bigger projects." Suzy listed, ticking off each item on her fingers.

Everything smelled like chemicals, and I felt slightly lightheaded.

"U-Um. C-Charcoal?" I stuttered. "Isn't that for like, barbecue?"

Suzy laughed. "Anniyo. It's the type of stuff that IU uses to draw with, and it's incredibly messy. I thought it was for burning when she talked about it too." she admitted.

"Oh. Ok. Charcoal, haha." I laughed weakly.

"Gwenchana?" she asked. "You don't look so good. Are you sick?" Then without warning, she came very close and put her hand on my forehead. My senses immediately opened up, and adrenaline rushed through me. I felt like I could read the tiniest print on the shelves.

"You don't seem to be burning up. Maybe you should sit outside while I shop for the things." Suzy then half-supported me outside the store to the couple of benches where I gratefully sank onto.

"Well, I'll be quick." she assured, then darted back inside the store, and I immediately relaxed.

True to her word, she came back outside within a couple of minutes with her hands full of shopping bags full of who knows what.

"Let's go pick out your present." She said brightly, dumping the shopping bags into my arms.

"Why do I have to carry these?" I pouted.

"Just because." she said, already looking around.

"I don't wanna."

"Too bad."

I sighed at her immaturity, and reluctantly stood up, with the bags divided evenly in each hand.

"Kaja!" she said once again, heading off in some general direction.

We headed into a jewelry shop, where (after Suzy rejected about ten billion of my choices) I picked out a bracelet for Jieun. It was an elegant and beautiful piece that I felt fit her very well.

After we finished, I dropped Suzy off at IU's home and then went back to my apartment, feeling completely content and still buzzing slightly with adrenaline. It wasn't a big deal, so I just shook it off as my body being strange.
