I woke up. Today was my date with Damon. I ran to my closet. What was I going to wear? I picked out a black pencil skirt, a black tank top, and a white blazer. I paired it will black pumps and a small black purse. I would change before he picked me up. I then decided I would wear a t-shirt and jeans to school. I took a shower and put on that t-shirt and jeans and parried it with my converses. I then woke up Bailey. Then we headed to school.
At lunch, it seemed some one told Deanna about our date.
"So you and Damon are finally going on a date?" She asked as soon as I sat down.
"Yeah. Where did you hear?"
"Well, Damon himself. He asked where he should take you."
"And you said...."
"A surprise to you."
"Ha, you aren't cool."
"Never said I was. He asked me during 4rth period."
"Of course. One of the classes you don't have with me."
"Yep. So what are you wearing?"
"Black skirt, black top, white blazer."
"Cute. It's perfect for this date."
"Fancy place?"
"Sort of."
"Should I wear heels?"
"You can. It won't interfere."
"K. Anything else I need to know."
"Nope."
We easily filled lunch with conversation not revolving Damon and I. Soon it was after school. I ran home. I put on my outfit. I did my makeup. Then I txted Damon to pick me up. Appartently Natalie was picking up Bailey today so we could go on this date. He soon arrived. I heard his car. And a knock. I was still upstairs, nervous.
"Come on in." I shouted. I heard the door open. I took one last look in the mirror. Everything looked perfect. I walked down the steps. As soon as I was in his eye sight, he gasped.
"You look beautiful."
"Thank you, you look dashing." That was a understatement. He was wearing a white button up shirt, rolled up to his elbows, gray tie, and dark grey dress pants. He paired it with black dress shoes.
He handed a bouquet of flowers, pink roses to be exact. They were my favorite flowers. "Thank you. Let me get a vase for this pretty flowers."
I easily found one in the top cabinet. I filled it with water. I put it on the table. They looked amazing. "You ready to head out?" He asked.
"Yep."
He lead me to the car. He opened the car door for me. Then we both slide in.
"Let me guess, it's a surprise where we are going?"
"Yep. Let me guess, Deanna talked to you about what to wear and girl stuff."
"Yep. Everything but about where we are actually going."
"Good. That means it's still a surprise."
"I can actually figure out it's fancy and a dinner."
"Wow, you could be Nancy Drew or something." He said, with a chuckle.
"Ruin my dreams why don't you."
"I try, really."
"You know what song made me think of you the other day?"
"What?"
"Everybody talks."
"I love that song. Go on my I-phone. I got it on I-tunes."
I did and we jammed to that song. It was fun. He told me I could pick the songs so I did. I played Let Her Go, Daylight, Light Em Up, Sweater Weather, and Good Life. We seemed to have the same taste in music. We told stories through the car ride. Soon we got to our date. He was taking me to Outback Steakhouse. I love this place but I only used to go with my dad.
"How did you know?"
"Deanna told me this is where you used to go with your dad. She told me you love the food here."
"Do I? But I know how expensive it is. Are you sure?"
"Deanna also mentioned that you and your dad used to share the huge meal since it was so filling."
"You are the best."
"I'm not the best. I'm prince charming."
We laughed. He opened the doors for me and we sat down. We easily got our table since he had a reservation. We had a waiter so no worries about slutty girls. We ordered a salad, bread, bloom-in' onion, and steak. We split it all to the t.
"So what time are you guys leaving tomorrow?"
"9 am."
"Boo. Can I come over to say goodbye at 7:45 ish with Bailey?"
"Yeah. We can be awake by then."
"Awesome. And can I text you every so often?"
"Txt me the whole time if you want."
"And you aren't seeing Rachel?"
"Not that I plan to. Victoria calm down, please. I'm just going to be gone for the weekend. Nothing is going to change."
"I'm sorry. I'm just nervous."
"I know. Me too. But everything is going to be fine."
"Thank you for understanding."
"Anything for you."
Just then, our appetizers came. We started eating.
"So what's is your favorite pick-up line to use?" I asked him.
"I don't use pick-up lines."
"Like never?"
"Never. Ladies fall for the tittle and my good looks." He winked at me.
"Ha, I see your cocky side has come out." He chuckled.
"I had this one at a party once: Name as many alcoholic drinks as you can think of in 30 seconds."
"Okay. Get the stop-watch on."
"Okay." I waited a moment. "Go."
"Vodka, Shirley Temple, White Russian, Apple Pie, Moonshine, Wine coolers, beer, Champagne, Duck Farts, Rum, Whiskey, wine, Pina Colada, suicides, Jaegerbombs, Lemon-drops, Buttery Nipples, Jello Shots, Kamikaze, Three Wise Men, Patron, Bloody Mary, Margarita, Mojito, Gin, Tequila, Martini, Manhattan, Between the sheets, Daiquiri, Cocktails, Brandy, Jubal Early Punch, Sherry Cobbler, Paradise, Ru-"
"Done. Wow you know a lot of drinks."
"My aunt was a bartender. She told me about what drinks are good. I used to go to her house for a week in the summer. It was always fun."
"That sounds like it."
"What is your favorite thing about me?"
"There's too much."
"C'mon."
"Okay. Your realness. You aren't conceited. You are down-to-earth. You care for Bailey with such a love. You can take pain. You are strong."
"That's Deanna's part too."
"Ha, of course. What's your favorite thing about me?"
"Your selflessness. You push people away for their own good."
"I see."
We got our food. We started eating. We ate in silence at first, just enjoying each other and the food.
"This is nice. Not everyone in your face at a date." He said.
"Yeah, I bet. Once, we come out of the closet, we'll have to have more private dates."
"Yeah. But that's doesn't bother me if it doesn't bother you."
"Not really. Like you said, you are in a position to help people."
"Yeah. But at what price?"
"Someone has got to pay it."
"I guess. You done?"
"Yeah that's all I can eat."
"Okay." He waved over a waiter. "Can we have a box and the check?"
"Yeah." He left and came back with the box and bill.
We left. He opened the doors for me once again. It was cute.
"So you going to take me home or are we doing something else?"
"We are doing something else."
"And that is?"
"Another surprise." I groaned.
"Fine. Two can play that game."
"And that means?"
"It's a secret." He chuckled.
"Fine. Two can play that game."
"That's my line!"
"I know."
That's when he pulled in to the movies. "Movie and a dinner?"
"Yeah, simple, normal date."
"Thank you."
"Don't thank me just yet."
"Ha, what movie are we going to see?"
"A french movie with English subtitles."
"Are you serious?"
"No, I just like fooling with you."
"Oh, shut up. How did you know I've never been to a movie like that?"
"Deanne. She said that no one would take you to a movie like this."
"She is amazing. What movie are we seeing?"
"A french movie, The Unfaithful Wife."
"I have heard so much about that one!"
"Let's go."
We entered, he bought our tickets, popcorn, and some sour gummy worms. We got there 5 minutes before the movie. We picked the very last row to sit in. He held my hand as we watch the amazing movie.
After it was done, he took my home. "Thank you for this date." I said.
"You're welcome. Don't worry about this weekend."
"I'll try not to. I'll see you bright and early in the morning." I started to go out, but he stopped me.
"Wait."
I sat back down. He leaned down and kissed me. I titled my head forward to allow better access. Our lips moved in sync. He cupped my neck, and my hands went around his face. It was heavenly. We soon pull apart to breathe. My eyes open and we both looked deeply at each other.
"Sorry, I wanted to do that for a long time." He said, sheepishly.
"Don't worry about it, I wanted it too." I pecked him on the lips. "Bye."
"Bye. Take the leftovers." I nodded and left the car.
I walked into the house. Jenny and Bailey were there.
"How was your date?" Jenny asked.
"It was amazing. You aren't mad about it though?"
"Nope. I'm glad. You need this."
"Awesome. How did Bailey get home?"
"I picked her up from Natalie's. She was so down."
"Well we are going to stop there before school tomorrow. They are leaving in the morning."
"Okay. She'll be happy."
Bailey walked in. Jenny filled her in. I put the left overs in fridge. I went to my room. I got in my pjs. I was happy for the first time, really happy. I called Deanna. She picked up.
"Hey. Spill."
"Hello to you too. He was sweet. We went to Outback and a french movie. He whispered sweet nothings in french in my ear the entire movie. It was The Unfaithful Wife. It was a murder movie."
"I see. And you want to give your best friend details?"
"We kissed." She squealed.
"And?"
"It was amazing. And then I left his car."
"Ugh. Fine. I'll live with that."
"Good. I'm tired. I'm going to go to bed."
"K. Night."
"Night."
I put the phone on the night stand. Then I drifted off to sleep. Thinking of Damon.
