I never saw Brian's parents on the bridge or anywhere near. I feared the worst, them running in and seeing there baby laying on the hospital bed on the edge of death. I had called the house and there phones no answer no one knew where they were. John and I thought we might relieve some stress if we went for a a walk. Ginger was sitting in the waiting room holding Brians phone
"ughh guys" he said,
"you might want to take a look at this" John and I rushed over. I ripped the phone from his hands and read the message from his parents.
"Hi son we just wanted to tell you that your going to be a big brother moms giving birth today at canton hospital room 212 come and see us and see you little sibling, love dad". My eyes widened I couldnt believe it Brians parents were just upstairs.
I was in so much shock I dont know why either because Brians parents were upstairs having a baby or the fact that I would have to tell them that there son is dying. I stared blankly at John
"I have to tell them" I said walking torward the stairs. John followed closely behind me searching for room 212 my mind was only set on the reaction Brians mom will give. We found room 212, you could hear Barbara panting like a dog knowing that the baby was coming. I put my hand to the door and made a soft knock, the door opened wide and I walked in. Barbara gave me a very awkward look
"excuse me wheres my son" she asked
"well thats what I came here to talk to you about.." she had a scared look in her eyes after I said thpse words.
"Mrs Warner umm I dont know how to say this but your son is down stairs."
"well why doesnt he come upstairs?"
"Because he cant he ughh well he...." tears started to form in her eyes and I couldnt hold back I started to cry harder than I ever have
"What happened boy?" Hugh yelled
"HE WENT OVER MALBERRY FALLS!!"
I cried and cried and I couldnt stop, John disappeared from the room and Barbara burst into tears.
"MY BABY" she screamed she got up from the bed and ran through the door
"Ma'am please go back to your bed that baby is on its way" the doctors screamed and chased after her.
Barbara ran down the stairs and through the halls screaming for her baby boy she saw Ginger in the waiting room she stopped and looked at him his makeup running down his face from tears john qas sitting next to him
"Where is my baby?" Barbara screamed Ginger pointed to the room just at the end of the hall she ran down the hall slamming through the door. She stood there in the doorway, looking at her son lay in the hospital bed hooked up to all the machinery
"I'm so sorry Barbara." she turned and looked at me.
"Its not your fault."
She walked over to the bed sitting down into the chair next to it
" I love you Brian and I just thought I should say my last goodbye."
