Chapter 18
Abby pov
I laughed at his face I walked towards his mom who was running over to me in a pair of sweats and bright pink teddy bear slippers covered in flour. Milo and Dan looked nothing like her, she had light blonde hair tied up into a messy bun on the top of head with straggly bits hanging down, she was a pretty stunning woman under all the flour and mess. As she flew towards me her hands outstretched ready to engulf me into a hug, I smiled as she reached me and pressed me into her chest nearly suffocating me.
“mom leave her alone” Milo smirked jogging up to us pulling me away from his mother’s giant chest letting me breathe a sigh of relief, geez that woman hugged tightly
“So you going to introduce me to the mother of my grandchild then or what” she said glaring at him arms folded tapping her foot. My mouth literally dropped to the ground, my face blushing how the hell did she know had his dad told her, I looked to Milo who was as dumb founded as me just mindlessly stuttering something about what and how.
“I’m Abby” I said holding my hand out to her as her frown dropped and she smiled sweetly at me coming towards me putting her arm around my shoulder
“I know hunny, I was winding him up and congratulations I’m so happy for you” she cooed
“You are” I asked, I mean it’s not every day your teenage son brings home his pregnant girlfriend for you to meet.
“Of course I am, I’m so glad you found each other. We’ve actually met before Abby” she smiled as she guided me into the massive house I was now going to be calling home for the time being
“We have” I asked confused I didn’t remember her at all and I’m sure I would never forget anyone like her in a hurry
“yep” she smiled popping the p as we walked in through the kitchen door at the side of the house near the drive, I gasped when I looked around, I’ve never seen a kitchen as big in my life, there was a massive island in the middle of the floor with a grey marble top that matched all the other counter tops, the walls were a brilliant shade of white and all the appliances were a dark shiny black. It was beautiful apart from the flour marks that were covering one side. As I turned to face her the smell of fresh bread wafted through my nose making stomach growl for the hundredth time today.
“Yes dear, I’ve actually met you a few times” she smiled as she walked towards the big double fridge
“Would you like a drink Abby?” she asked pouring a glass of orange juice out before I could even open my mouth to give an answer.
“Mom she didn’t even say yes” Milo laughed sitting down on a stool at the island as his mom passed me the drink
“She needs vitamin c in her diet now, you've got the baby to think of now” she shrugged making me blush again, ok how did this strange but nice woman know so much about me
“Mom leave her” he smiled starting to flick through a magazine in front of him
“I will not, by the way Abby seen as though my ass of a son has told you I’m Céline, and both me and Seth have known you from being a baby” she smiled grabbing my hand a pulling out of the room into another bigger room. My guess is the family room, it was huge. A massive TV was nestled in the corner near a window to the front of the house; it has cream walls except for one that was a deep shade of purple covered in pictures. She dragged me over to a big plum sofa covered in cushions and nodded at me to sit down with her. I did as I was told and sat looking at her studying her; Milo really did look nothing like her, although I imagine he gets his silliness from her
“Erm how come you know me” I asked quietly sipping my juice
“Well you know Jenny is in our pack” I nodded and set my drink down on the small side table next to me
“Well Abby, me and Jenny are like best friends, she joined our pack from yours when she met Lee and we hit it off. We already knew your dad, Seth being Beta and all, when your dad had a pack meeting that needed the cooperation of other packs we went and I met you. He loves you a lot Abby, he was always showing you off” she smiled reliving the past
I tried to smile back but couldn’t bring myself to, there was so much about my life I didn’t know, how many people can say that. I was supposed to know my own god damn life, other people knew more about me than me, it was starting to piss me off and now I was pregnant, I didn’t even know what was going to happen with that.
“Oh” was all I could manage to say as she went on about how cute I was when i was little blah blah blah
#baby are you ok I can feel you getting annoyed, what’s she doing now# Milo asked worried in my head
#Nothing banging on about dad and me being a baby…save me# I pleaded knowing he would, he knew it was a sore subject
“Mom” he shouted from the kitchen making her look over the back of the sofa as he made his way into the lounge
“How did you know Abby was pregnant, did dad tell you” he asked smiling at me as walked round and sat next to me pulling me into his arms as I mouthed thank you to him
“I smelt it” she shrugged “ but your dad is going to get it when he comes home if he knew I didn’t tell me” she folded her arms annoyed making me laugh, yep the childishness Milo had came from his mom
“How can everyone smell it on me” I sighed sinking into Milo and the sofa making it creak beneath me
“It was actually pretty strong hunny when I hugged you Abby” she said shocked I'd even asked
“But dad said it was only faint, we only you know, did it last night” I said confused and embarrassed, how had my smell gotten so strong in a few hours
“Actually Abby come to think of it I can really smell it now” Milo smiled as he put his nose into my hair smelling deeply
“How” I asked raising my eyebrows
“Well your baby is going to be a strong little thing, either that or there’s more than one in there” she laughed
“What” I screamed jumping off the sofa, the fast movement making my stomach lurch, damn sickness
“I need a bathroom” I cried hold my hand over my mouth, Milo jumped up, picked me up and carried me up stairs despite me saying I was not an invalid, he didn’t listen as he opened a door and put me down next to the toilet rubbing my back as I threw up
“Baby is she serious” I asked panicked when we walked out of the bathroom into the hall
“Dunno let’s ask her” he shrugged as if more than one baby was normal, no it was not normal I was only just slightly getting used to one baby
“Mom” he screamed making her appear at the bottom of the stairs smiling sympathetically at me
“Yes dear”
“Mom were you serious about being more than one baby” he shouted down the stairs as I leaned on the banister at the top
“Deadly serious hunny, did it fail to cross your mind, you are a twin, your dad is a twin and your granddad is a twin” she laughed
Oh shit, I looked at Milo the colour draining from his face for the second time today as his brain pieced together the facts,
“When can we find out” he stuttered making her laugh at his crumpled face
“In ten minutes hunny, I’ve already phoned the pack doctor, she is on her way with the ultrasound”
“Why what” I spluttered out looking at her in shock, she'd phoned the doctor, why I hadn't asked her to, what right did she have decideing if I saw a doctor.Ii felt myself getting wound up again, anger pumping through me as I gripped hold the banister, my knuckles turning white under the pressure
“When I could smell the baby so strongly hunny and when you started being sick I just thought it best” she said quietly looking up the stairs at my horrified contorted and angry looking face
“You really think it’s twins” I said gritting my teeth as she nodded the truth in her eyes scared me, she really truly thought the baby would turn out to be babies, its dad was a twin and its granddad and great granddad. I suppose there was a massive chance I was having twins. I felt my legs buckle from under me as I fell with a thud. Thank god I was hanging on to the banister as tightly as I was I thought as Milo flew to me picking me, his mom running up the stairs and Dan coming crashing through a nearby door, I’m guessing it was his room
“Abby” Milo and Dan screamed at the same time making me laugh
“Calm it guys I only went a bit light headed” I said shaking my head as he helped me up
“Kind of happens when you get told you might be have two babies at seventeen” I tried joking, it wasn’t working there was nothing remotely funny about this
He looked into my eyes as he stood me up right looking right into mine; his colour was slowly coming back. He smiled and kissed my cheek then looked at his mom pointing his finger at her
“You just scared her half to death mom, isn’t it too early to tell on a ultrasound anyway” he said sounding slightly pissed off with her
“Not with an Alpha” she said walking over to me “I’m sorry Abby, I didn’t think how you would take all this”
“It’s ok” I lied steadying myself into Milos side breathing in his scent to calm me
“Can I go lie down and watch a dvd until this doctor comes” I asked looking up at Milo smiling when he nodded
“Dan will you take Abby to my room” he smiled and nodded towards Dan who was hovering around my back
“Sure bro come on Abby” he said holding his arm out for me to grab on to and steady myself.
“Thanks Dan” I said as he guided me across the hall and into a room
Milos’s pov
I waited until she got around the corner with Dan then walked over to my now very nervous looking mom
“Mom I can’t believe you just did that, what right did you have to scare her half to death with something you don’t even know yet and then phone a doctor when we didn’t even ask you too” I scolded sighing at her as her face dropped
“I’m sorry sweetie, you know me I just got so excited I didn’t think” she said walking over to me as I sat on the top step with my head in my hands.
Twins I couldn’t handle twins, I was a twin I knew how bad they were and Abby, Jesus Christ poor Abby, her body was going to be pushed to the limit with one Alpha baby let alone two
“Milo it will be fine sweetie, she is a lovely girl and when you both get over the initial shock you will be great parents, but there is something we all need to talk about” she said wrapping her arms around me like she did when I was a child
“What” I asked looking up at her, I couldn’t take anymore, this week had already been the best and worst of my life I don’t think I could handle anything else
“Well when all this with him is over and we will sort it hunny dont you worry we won't let anything happen to Abby or the baby. She needs to decide if she’s joining this pack or going back to hers with her dad, which leaves you to decide what to do if he chooses to go home” she said sadly
“What” I screamed
“Oh sweetie she’s an Alpha, her pack is going to need her” she said quietly as I paced up and down the hall red faced when the doorbell rang making mom jump up
“That’s the doctor I’ll tell her to meet you in your room, we'll talk about this later, please don’t tell Abby she doesn’t need this until after the baby is born” she said running down the stairs towards the door as I headed to my room.
I can’t believe we had to decide, one of us would have to give up on our birth right, an Alpha or a Beta. I would follow her to the ends of the earth if she needed me too even though I didn’t know what she would decide I already knew if she wanted to go with her dad I would gladly go with her. I promised her I wouldn’t hide anything from her again and I wasn’t going to but I needed to speak to her dad about this first then speak to her.
“baby” I said knocking on my door and walking in to find her sprawled out on her back, her hands under her head smiling at the tv
“Hey baby what you watching” whatever it was had only just started but she was loving it
“Shrek” she said matter of factly like I should know
“oh okay then, baby the doctors here, if you want me to tell her to go I will” I said sitting down next to her kissing her lightly on the cheek placing my hand on her slight belly, I frowned her tummy was completely flat this morning and now there was a tiny bulge, only tiny but a bulge none the less. I felt a shudder go down my spine; I knew in my heart my mom was right
“No” she sighed putting her hand over mine rubbing lightly “let’s get conformation your mom is right even though we both know she is” she said trying to smile attempting to hide her fear from me, I could feel it radiating from her she was trembling
“Oh baby it will be fine, I’m here” I said kissing her head trying to soothe her
“You don’t have to have the bloody baby or two babies” she scoffed pressing her head into my shoulder, my hand still on her stomach. I still couldn’t believe there was a baby in there, my baby maybe two in there
We looked up when a knock echoed in the room
“Milo Abby can I come in” a woman’s voice sounded, I kissed Abby on the head and reluctantly pulled my hand away from our child.
“Yeah sure doc come in” I said as she opened the door loaded down with a big black bag and a small TV like thing, I’m guessing that was the portable ultra sound
“So guys, how are you both feeling” she smiled as she walked over to Abby and placed her things on a nearby chair
“Shocked” we both said at the same time starring at the doctor as she started unpacking her things
“Yeah I bet you are, I’ve only just qualified and will be working with Doctor Western, so I’ve never worked with an Alpha pregnancy before but I assure you I know what I’m doing” she smiled hooking up the machine and plugging it in at the side of the bed
“So Abby do you want to lift your shirt for me” she asked, Abby doing as she was told. She looked at me with fear and excitement in her eyes
#you ok baby# I asked through her head wanting privacy from the doctor
#yeah I am, nervous about the twin thing but kind of excited to see it# she said as she gasped when a big blob of snot like gel dropped on her stomach
“Oooo that’s cold” she called out making the doctor laugh as she pulled out the scanning thing and pushed in into her belly moving it around and clicking away on the keys. We sat in silence just watching the doctor move the wand about her belly. She scrunched her face up and moved the wand back around to the side of Abby’s belly, her face turning from a frown to a smile
“So guys you wanna see your babies”
“Babies” Abby’s tiny voice spoke up when the doctor nodded and pointed to the screen and to two small black blobs with two small flickering dots
“You’ve got twins, and to say how early in the pregnancy they are, they are very advanced I’ll be surprised if you carry for three months” she said freezing the screen both me and Abby not taking our eyes of the TV. Two babies, mom was right, but looking at my tiny twins on the screen was like nothing before. Those were my tiny blobs to look after to nurture and protect and if that meant moving across the country I would even though I'd already decided this made me a thousand percent certain I would go anywhere Abby and my babies went. I felt tears falling down my cheeks from happiness; only ten minutes ago I was dreading twins now here I was crying tears of joy because I was looking at my babies. Would they be boys girls or one of each, who would they look like, what would it feel like to hold them for the first time
“Milo” Abby said smiling at me looking at the picture on the screen and reaching out to my face wiping the stray tear that had fallen
“Baby, call Dan and your mom in” she said, her eyes twinkled with excitement and happiness, she felt the same as me all doubts and fears about having twins had disappeared when we’d seen them
“You sure” I said looking at my babies then back at her when she nodded
“Mom Dan” I yelled knowing they would probably have theirs ears pressed to the door anyway, I was right. Less than a second later my idiot brother came flying in with mom both with massive grins on their goofy faces
“Told you” mom smiled walking over giving me a kiss on the cheek and smiling brightly at Abby
“Yeah, yeah” I said waving my hand dismissively at her
“Bro we can teach them everything we know” Dan beamed plonking down on the side of the bed next to Abby
“I don’t think so” Abby scolded “one set of delinquent twins is enough thank you” she smiled playfully slapping my brother on the arm “wanna see them” she beamed. I couldn’t believe how much both of us had changed just seeing them, it was as if it was all real now, we couldn’t try and deny it. Our babies were growing quickly and within three months we would have them in our arms
“Yeah” mom squealed rubbing her hands together as we pointed at the screen just before the doctor un froze the screen and the flickering dots came into view again.
“Oh my god” Dan said in shock “there they are”
“Yep” I smiled as a booming sound started to fill the room
“That’s the babies’ heart beats” the doctor said turning up the volume on her machine
“Oh my they are really are strong hunny” mom smiled grabbing Abby’s hand and squeezing it
“Yeah” I winced thinking about how much pain my own twins were going to put their mother through “the doc says she won’t carry them over three months”
“well” my mom looked at Abby sadly “it won’t be easy hunny, you’re going to be put through hell with those babies, but we are all here for anything you need” she said rubbing Abby’s arm and holding mine tightly
“Thanks mom” I smiled over at her then Abby, whose face hadn’t dropped from fear or glazed over in panic, she just glowed. Her entire face was lit up and illuminated, her grin passed from ear to ear every time the babies heart beats got louder. She didn’t care about anything other than me and those babies.
I could hear my mom, Dan and the doctor all talking, I just nodded when I needed too agreeing when they expected me to. I couldn’t concentrate I couldn’t take my eyes from Abby and when I did it was only to look at the screen with my babies on. The doctor had said she needed to check on Abby every week throughout the pregnancy and that in three weeks we would be able to find out what we were having. She warned her that she would experience some massive bouts of sickness and dizziness as well as mood swings and temper tantrums. Abby laughed when the doctor told her that saying we’d already seen the start of it with Whitney. She had also said that she could go ahead with shifting again and with training, her being pregnant shouldn’t affect her, she just needed to listen to her body and know when enough was enough.
As she started packing her equipment up the doctor whose name we’d learnt was Annabelle asked if we wanted a picture of the twins, of course we did, I wanted to look at them all the time until next week came and we could see them again, see how much they will have grown.
“So guys you feeling a bit better now” she smiled handing Abby the picture and a piece of kitchen roll to wipe the gel of her stomach
“Yeah thanks” she said happily sitting up and studying the picture then handing me it and motioning for me to sit on the bed with her
“Good, well I’ll see you next week” she said walking towards the door and leaving
She sat looking at me crossing her legs bouncing slightly on my very bouncy bed
“Soooo” she said playfully
“Soooo” I said back moving my head up and down matching her bounce
“So not only do you knock me up on your first go, you get me with twins” she laughed as she carried on moving up and down
“Told you they were fast swimmers” I laughed grabbing her shoulders to stop her moving so I could look into her beautiful blue eyes, blue eyes I hope my babies had “so how do you feel” I asked
“I feel ok, happy, slightly shocked and slightly sick but really really happy, I mean as soon as I saw them everything changed” she said leaning into me puckering her lips up to mine. I leant into her pressing mine against hers as those damn shocks passed through us again, I could feel the passion taking over me
“So how sick do you feel exactly” I winked pushing her onto her back devouring her tiny mouth with mine, god I loved this girl
