KAYLE

At last, we finally found the last flag and went back to the convetion place.

"Good job, leaders!" the facilitators announced. "Today's activity is done so settle yourseleves now."

We all cheered as we separate to go on our own rooms.

Upon entering, I immediately slumped myself into the bed.

"Wooh!"Cielo cheered. "Finally!" she lied down on her bed too.

The sun's rays was passing through the uncurtained window's glass.

I saw Cal changing his shirt, just beside his bed.

I raised an eyebrow. "You grew abs?"

He never had one before.

He smirked. "What do you think of them? Prosthetics?"

I rolled my eyes. "'Coz why not."

He shook his head. "Wanna touch it babe?"

I looked at him disgustingly. "Dream on!"

I heard him and Wade laughed.

"Yeah dream on, bro," Wade mocked.

Cielo laughed. "Eew."

Wade looked at her. "Hey baby."

My eyes widened—so as Cielo's.

"What?!" I shouted.

"What?" Cielo stuttered.

He laughed. "Joke."

I saw how my bestfriend's expression changed, and faked a laughed.

"I knew it," she said. Then looked at me. I looked at her worriedly but she just smiled.

"Babe," Cal called.

"Hmm?" I asnwered, while fiddling on my phone.

"Not you."

My brows met as I looked at him, he was holding his phone beside his ear.

I felt my blood suddenly rising up—I wanna kill him as he walked towards the door and shut it close.

Probably talking to Crystal, I thought.

I felt the three of them looking at me with the same worried expression.

The corner of my eyes suddenly felt warm.

"Magpapahangin lang ako," I said and hurriedly made my way out of the room.

"Sis!" I heard Cielo call.

I ran to I don't know where but I'm sure this is already outside of the event premises.

I found myself infront of a seashore, leaning on a tree.

I watched the beautiful sunset as emotions tangle up inside me. I hugged myself, the cool wind surrounding me.

What is this feeling?

It feels so wrong. So broken. So unfair.

I closed my eyes and rested my head on the tree. I calmed myself.

Maybe I just need my own solitude after everything that's happening recently. I'm being through a lot.

I sighed.

What's happening to me?

I waited until the sun is out then made way out of the lined up bushes and vines above.

Luckily, I remembered the way back to the place.

For some people, I may look odd, my hair is pretty messed up and I look like just banged out of a cave filled with bats.

Well, I don't care—the sea breeze felt really good.

When I reached our room, I just stared at the door knob.

Should I open it?

But what will they think? That I'm insane or unreasonable or jealous?

Probably not the later, it can't be the latter.

Whatever, it doesn't matter.

I composed myself and took a deep breath.

Finally I had the guts to swing it open.

"Hey," I said and closed the door.

I stopped on my step when Cal suddenly made his way to me and hugged me really tight.

"Babe! Where have you been? Mababaliw na ako kakahanap sa'yo!" I feel him panting, like he just got home from a long run.

I didn't answer, nor hug him back.

He let go and tucked my hair messed up on my face then cupped my cheeks. "I'm so worried. Talk to me," he seemed to be begging.

I nearly smirked.

I pushed him gently. "I'm fine."

I made my way to the closet and took some clothes, I feel horrible.

I knew the others were just looking at us—lying on their beds, doing their own things but looking at us.

As I pass beside Cielo, I smiled to say I'm really okay.

She nods but still looks unconvinced.

Cal followed me. He held my arm to turn me to face him, "Babe talk to me pl---."

"What's up with you?" I hissed.

"I'm sorry for---."

"Don't be."

"Don't lie."

I raised an eyebrow.

"They told me you stormed out of the room when---."

"Just forget it!" I shouted and withrew my arm. I turned my back on him, "And please stop calling me the way you call anyone else. I hate it."

I left him staring at me as I entered the bathroom.

***

I didn't talk to him for the whole night.

As we were relaxing ourselves, I hear Wade and Cielo talking about random things. Good that they're now growing closer.

I rolled on my bed, holding my phone and trying to contact mom and dad, when suddenly I felt Logan looking at me.

I looked at him and smiled weakly. "Hi," I said.

He moved on the edge of his bed, closer to mine.

"You okay?" he asked, in a low voice, making sure Cal won't hear us.

I moved closer to him too. "Yep."

He grinned. "Why hide it from yourself? We all know you're not fine."

He tilted his head over my shoulder and motioned his face towards Cal.

I get what he's trying to say. "No," I said. "We're really...fine."

"You're not fooling me," he said.

"I'm not," I replied.

He smirked and asked, "Coffee?"

"Sounds good," I said.

I jumped out of bed and we made out of the room and as I pass through Cal, I feel he's staring.

I didn't mind as Logan and I went out.

"So, what's the story behind all that?" he asked as we sat on a bench outside, holding in hand a cup of coffee we stirred from the cafeteria.

"Since when did you become interested?"

"I'm not."

"Really, huh." I shrugged, "Well, the emotions got mixed up. It's unexplainable. It was like, I wanna shout at him and be angry, at the same time I was sad and feeling all caught up inside," i said.

He didn't say anything.

I laughed. "See, you wouldn't even mind."

"I do."

I mocked him. "Whatever."

"You're jealous, aren't you?" he suddenly asks.

I raised an eyebrow. "Of course no."

"You are."

"No."

"Yes."

"Nope."

"Technically yes."

"Probably no."

"Actually yes."

"Obviously no."

He raised his hands in defeat and took a sip in his coffee. "Okay whatever you want."

But it struck me...what if I really am jealous?

The idea made me laugh.

"You're hilarious," I said.

"Not as much as you," he said, raising an eyebrow.

He looked at his watch. "It's getting late. Let's so inside."

I nod and we walked inside.

As we stepped on the hallway, I thought of talking to him.

"Thanks Logan."

He raised an eyebrow.

"Well, for hearing me out," I shrugged.

"No big deal."

We stepped into our room and saw Cielo already asleep.

Wade is fixing things up for tomorrow then stood up after awhile to get some sleep.

"Goodnight guys. Sleep now, last day tomorrow."

I nod. "Sleep well Wade."

He smiled and I saw him tuck Cielo inside her blanket before he lied down his own bed.

I went straight to mine and Logan did too.

I passed through Cal's bed and I wasn't sure if he's asleep or no, but he's tucked inside his blanket.

I rested myself on my bed.

"Kayle," Logan called.

"Yes, Mr. Grumpy?" I chuckled, looking at him.

"I'm going to sleep now."

I nod. "Please turn off the lights please," I said.

He smirked. "Scaredy-cat," he remarked then stood up to turn it off.

"Night," he said.

"Yup, thanks and goodnight."

Not long until I heard his gentle snores, he must be tired.

I lied there, staring at the ceiling—only the moonlight giving lit to our room.

I closed my eyes, but I can't sleep.

I turned to face Cal, and saw him get up.

I pretended to be asleep as he slowly walked towrads my bed.

"Kayle? Are you still awake?" he asks softly.

I didn't answer.

He sat on the floor, beside my bed near my head.

He chuckled. "Right. You're already asleep. I guess you really had a fun time with Logan."

He sounded to be sad, and a hint of jealousy.

"Why am I even talking to a sleeping person?" he slowly lifted himself up when I suddenly held his arm.

"Cal."

He stiffened. "You're awake?"

I sat up straight, "Yeah."

He sat beside me. "Kayle."

We fell quiet.

He slowly pulled me and hugged me tight.

"Kayle," he brushed my hair. "I'm sorry."

"It's okay."

"It wasn't Crystal."

"Then who?"

"No one."

I pushed him and furrowed me eyebrows. "What?"

"I was just bluffing," he said, scratching the back of his head.

I punched him hard. "Jerk."

"Sorry," he said.

"Ugh!" I groaned, minimizing my voice so they won't wake up. "Damn you Cal."

He chuckled nervously. "I'm sorry—should I call you babe now?" he smirked.

I rolled my eyes. "No and never."

"Aww."

"Whatever. Just go sleep."

"Speaking of Crystal," he suddenly said.

"What?"

"We didn't kiss that day."

I remembered the day at the Mayday Serenade when I sang Your Song.

"Fooling who?" I said.

"I'm serious," he said, looking at my eyes. "I just tilted my head near her face, but my lips didn't touch hers."

He looks like he's telling the truth.

I shrugged, "Good to know."

"Jealous?" he smirked.

I rolled my eyes. "You wish."

He laughed. "What was that you sang that day?" he suddenly asks.

"Why?"

"I want to know."

"Your Song by Mayday Parade."

He smiled, "Okay. Let's sleep now."

"What's with it?"

He shrugged. "I don't know, memories I guess."

He stood up and rested on his bed.

I shrugged. "Goodnight Cal."

"Goodnight, baby doll," he said, smiling, and closed his eyes.

I felt butterflies in my stomach.

Baby doll.

That's what he calls me back then.

And...

It was our favorite song.
