"You're what?" My dad turned around quickly and walked towards me. "Um...this...this is my son...Henry. Henry James Voight. I named him after his grandpa." I smiled. I haven't seen my dad since my mom died and I regret it but when I was little I always said that if I had a son I would name him after my dad. My dad stood there in shock. It's like he couldn't move or speak. "C-C-Can I hold him?" He said. "Yea sure." I said handing Henry off to him. I stood there and admired how my dad held Henry. I've waited for this moment. Seeing this hit me that I should have talked to my dad after all these years. He didn't deserve me not talking to him. He didn't do anything wrong. It was me not him. I wish my mom could have been here to see this. Justin needs to see this too. He could learn and thing or two from our dad. My father is far from being a saint but he's a good man. He was there for us when we needed him even though he worked in the Police Department. He taught Justin, Erin, and I how to change a tire, change the oil in a vehicle, shoot a gun, and other things. I was proud to have him as a father and I love him for that.
I stood beside Erin as we admired the bonding going on between Henry and our dad. "So Erin, how ya been? Anything new with you?" I asked." I'm good. I been working a lot so work, work, and more work." She laughed. "Just work?" I looked at her then at the guys she worked with noticing one of them eyeing her. "Um...Hey guys come meet my sister." She said jumping to a different subject. "Oh we are gonna take about this later." I smirked. "Jordan this is Jay, Antonio, Adam, Kevin, Mouse, and you remember Al." Erin introduced pointing to each person. I hugged Al. "Of course I remember him." Alvin squeezed me tight. "Glad you're home kiddo." "Me too and it's nice to meet you all." I said. I wondered how Erin worked with all these guys. They were extremely good looking, especially Adam. He caught my eye the moment I laid eyes on him. I worked with a lot of guys during the Marines and I've dated a a lot of them, especially after my mom died. More than half of the guys I been with I don't remember their names mainly because of my downhill spiral. Thinking back on those times I wondered how I was still alive.
"So Jordan, where have you been hiding at? If you don't mind me asking." Jay asked. "South Carolina." I replied. "Wait I thought you was in California at Camp Pendleton." Erin said. "I was but I moved to South Carolina." I answered. "Wait Camp Pendleton? You're a Marine?" Jay asked in a shocked voice. "Yep. I did a tour in Iraq and Afghanistan." I said looking down at the floor then up at my dad and Henry. "Thank you for your service." Antonio said as he patted my back. "Your welcome." I quietly said.
"You alright." Erin said noticing a change in my mood. "Yea. I'm fine." I said. I walked back over to where my dad and son was. "Having fun there?" I smiled. "Yea. This has made me very happy today." My dad replied. "I'm glad. I'm glad I'm back home too." I said. "Jordan where are y'all staying at?" He asked. "I bought a house a few blocks from Firehouse 51. It's small but it will do." I told him. "Do me a favor and stay the night with me." He said as he held Henry's hand. "What about my dogs. Alaska over there is my service dog and I have another dog. I asked him. "We will make do and I'll fix your favorite meal. It's still Shrimp Alfredo?" He asked. I smiled, "yes it's still my favorite."
"Hey boss, I hate to interrupt but two bodies were found in an alley way. Kevin said getting off the phone. "You and the others go check it out." My dad replied. "Hey dad um if you're busy we can come back. I'll just go see Justin. He still lives around the block from you?" I told him. Everyone stopped at looked at me. Their facial expressions told me something was wrong especially my dad and Erin's. "What? I asked looking at everyone. "Um...Jordan. There's something we gotta talk about." My dad said in a serious tone. "Dad, just tell me." I said. Erin came up behind me. "Justin's fine right? Dad? Erin?" I asked getting worried. "No Justin's not fine. Jordan your brother was killed." My dad's voice cracked.
