Pain with every breath
Hurt in every tear
Regret in every drop of blood
As she escapes a world ruled by fear
They were supposed to protect her
They were the ones who were supposed to care
But as the ambulance arrived
There was nobody there
They had left hours ago
To do a "family thing"
It was supposed to just be a concert
One where her sister would sing
They wouldn't answer the calls or texts
And soon she began to cry
The last message that she sent them
Was a single word, "Goodbye."
When finally they arrived back home
They were greeted by a flashing light
As the police officer walked over
He said, "Theres been an accident tonight"
Her mother hung her head in shame
As her father asked them what she did
They had absolutely no idea
That they'd just lost a kid
They swore that they would pay for
Any damage she had done
They just kept on saying
"She's always been the troublesome one"
The officer looked between them
With a rage he'd never knew
"Your daughter died tonight," he told them
"There was nothing we could do."
They stayed there looking at him, stunned
And said, "This has to be a lie
Even with all of the fights
The worst she's ever done is cry."
"Her wrists showed some heavey scars,"
Is what the paramedics said
"She must've suffered from depression
And now it seems she's dead."
"That's a lie! A lie!" Her father screamed
As her mom fell to her knees
They ran into the ambulance
But couldn't wake her with their pleas
The officer brought them a letter
Stained with blood and tears
They wondered if it was their fault
And the letter confirmed their fears
It read; "I don't want your pity
And I don't want your tears
I've been rejected by all of you
Over and over through the years.
I don't want you to feel sorry
Because now I'm finally free.
Free from all the pain and hurt
And the false sympathy
None of you ever cared from me
And I doubt you ever will
Don't bother with a funeral
Just go out and drink your fill."
Those were the last known words
Of a girl who died too soon
Her parents heeded her last wish
They buried her the next afternoon.
