"Your my soulmate Lina."
I hold his gaze, my hazel ones searching his amber ones, trying to see if he was lying to me, heck if he was playing with me. But nothing is held in his amber orbs as he holds my gaze intensely, a spec of raw vulnerability there but other than that, nothing but the utter truth shines through his gaze.
I lick my suddenly dry lips. My heart was jumping for joy, but the insecurities hidden years ago resurface with a vengeance as I try to comprehend a reply. My mouth opens on various occasions, yet nothing comes out.
With a sigh, I wring my hands together in my lap, trying to gather my jumbled up thoughts. I lick my lips once more before a word stutters out, "K-Kane" His eyes close suddenly his big hands tightening into fists as he screws his eyes shut. I watch him clench his jaw tightly before swallowing the muscle ticking intently.
He stands abruptly his eyes opening, this time the vulnerability no longer there, instead just two black bottomless pits as he stares down at me with a blank look, "I get it."
I flinch at his words, sounding lifeless, empty. Portraying how I feel as he utters them coldly. I feel a tear slide down my cheek as I watch him stare down at me completely blank, no emotion whatsoever. I swallow the lump in my throat as my heart and head battle in war over what and who to believe, my thoughts all over the place.
"What do you mean, you get it Kane" I whisper softly, so softly I don't even know if he had heard it. He shakes his head with a exhale, unclenching his fists he moves back a step, creating distance in between us, and also tugging a bit of me with him as he moves back further. "Forget it. It doesn't matter-" My mouth opens before I even notice, rage being brought fourth at his cruel words. "It doesn't matter huh? What the fuck Kane?"
I stand, from my sitting position, before closing the distance between us he created, my heart beating double time as more tears fall carelessly down my cheeks. My body swaying lightly, the same with my heart as it slowly starts to crack. I let out a breath I realized I was holding before proceeding forward.
I move in, till he has to look down in order for our eyes to meet. "Why would you say shit you don't mean? Please, don't say shit like that and then expect me to forget it. Please" I whisper harshly, my words becoming a plea as I hold his gaze "Don't- God Kane"
I turn away from him as a choked sob slips out of my lips. I felt the burning rage simmer as the familiar wave of pain washes over me. I try to hold myself from letting go, but fail.
Familiar hands grip at my waist, covering the span of my stomach before pulling me into a warm broad chest. I feel my chest tighten as I stutter out a couple of breaths.
Gripping my face in his hands, he bends till were both at eye level. I frown as my eyes meet his, pain etched across his handsome features. "When did I ever say anything to you that I didn't mean Lina?" he husks, his voice thick, deep sending tingles down my spine as he grips my chin in his big warm hand.
I hiccup once more, tears leaking down my chin, staining his shirt I'm currently wrapped in. "Y-you sa-said b-b-bbefore" I stutter embarrassingly, once again getting lost in his black orbs.
He shakes his head, placing his forehead against my own he breathes in deeply. "Baby, I didn't- fuck. I made a mess of this" with a sigh he continues, "We, me. I, God" he growls out harshly just as a knock sounds on the door behind us. He doesn't move, his gaze continuing to hold my own as the knocking continues.
"I want to show you something. Promise me you won't run Lina, promise me you won't freak out and leave" I try to calm my erratic breathing to form a coherent response. Letting my heart win this round, I nod, reaching up on my tip toes, I pull him in closer before pressing a kiss against his full bottom lip. He doesn't waste a second in responding, his hands gripping my black inky tresses as he devours my mouth with fevered starvation.
I open for him, my thoughts no longer a jumbled mess as I show him through action that I'm not going to run away from him. I pull back slightly as the insistent knocking becomes a loud pounding. He groans, "You ready" he husks deeply, his jaw clenched as he watches me.
I nod, "Show me" bending down slightly, he slips a heavily muscled arm under my legs and another under my back lifting me off the floor effortlessly before making his way over to the door.
Pulling it open he growls, his chest vibrating against my side, "What?" I find myself staring at Knox mid-knock. He glares at Kane, "Damn man, you take your bloody time" I chuckle as Kane growls once more, "Get on with it Knox, my patience is wearing thin with your ass" Knox scoffs, "Just thought you should know, her blood tests came back" he says with a glance in my direction. My brows crinkle in confusion, "And?" Kane inquires impatiently.
"Well with your marking yesterday, you managed to speed things up a ton" Kane continues to watch him, a permanent frown etched upon his face. "How long?" Knox glances down at his watch attached to his left wrist, "Two hours, Three max" Kane swears softly, his hands gripping me tightly against him, "Fuck!" I grip his neck softly, "What is it?" I speak up for the first time. Kane exhales loudly, "I'm sorry baby, I should have done this properly" I look up at him, "What is going on?" He shakes his head before dropping a kiss against my lips. I respond in kind, as shivers erupt all over and butterflies swarm within.
He pulls back abruptly his eyes closed, "Forgive me Lina" my brows crinkle in confusion as he whispers lowly before moving into my neck taking the shivery sensation with him.
As I open my mouth to ask what in the world he was apologizing for, a sharp sting pricks at my neck before latching on as I'm immediately lost to a sea of unconsciousness.

Kane
She's put to sleep immediately, her soft plump lips opening on a quiet moan as her eyes flutter once, then twice before ceasing all movement. Pulling back from her neck, I press a soft kiss against my mark and then just cause I can, I place a gently peck against her lips.
God to think I was gonna lose her just a second ago. I feel the familiar tightening in my chest as a fresh wave of pain runs through me. Lina shivers in my arms her brows crinkling in the center cutely, I smile softly before pressing a kiss against her brows. Guess the connection was stronger than I thought. Someone clearing their throat snaps me out of my thoughts.
I turn towards Knox, just as he hides a smirk behind a closed fist. I growl lowly under my breath before muttering "Don't start." He holds up his palms in surrender before moving out the door as I follow him down the long hallway.
"What'd he say?" Knox turns towards me briefly as I follow him down to the gym room, "Only Vince got the gene, hence why they had never told her. Her mother thought it was best kept away from here."
He turns a corner as I tighten my grip on her, her body starting to heat up some as she snuggles into me, "Maria knew her daughter well. She knew that if Lina found out that her Fathers genes were only dominant in Vince, she'd seek him out, she'd have questions. "
I tighten my grip on her as we near the door. "And that's what Maria didn't want" Knox says besides me. I nod in understanding, but I also can't help the fact that if they just would have just told her that her father was a werewolf from the beginning this would have been a hell of a lot easier on my part.
With a sigh, I lean down and press a kiss against her forehead, "What are my chances Knox?" I whisper quietly, my heart being double time as I await his answer.
He places a hand on my shoulder, gripping it tightly. "She is strong brother, do not lose faith" I turn to him, just as he cracks a wide grin, "Let's not forget that she is after all, mated to a Sinclair" I can't help the swell of pride hitting me in full at his words. Making me grin my damn self.
Damn right she was my mate and I'm gonna do everything that I can to help her pull through this. Breathing in her scent once more, I savour it and send up a silent prayer, hoping he will hear me. "She'll pull through. She'll make the shift" I say lowly, my eyes closed tightly as I hold her closer to me, my body locked and loaded with determination to get her through this.
Pulling back with an exhale, I open my eyes and move in a step, as Knox grabs the door knob. "No one comes in" I rasp lowly and proceed through the door, ready to deal with the first shifting of my mate.
'Please, to whatever God may be listening, please let her pull through this'.
