"I don't want to go to school" I groan as I throw my bag behind my back.
"Girl you have a month and a few days before you graduate so I don't even want to hear any of that" Tika says.
"Fine! I'll go but I don't want too" I say pouting.
She laughs, "Little girl here eat your food so we can get going".
Ever since August and I got back from Tampa I've decided to go back to living with Tika. In a few months I'll be living with August so I want to give Tika all my attention.
"These eggs are so damn good Tika" I say munching away on my breakfast.
"Thanks Indy" She says putting the dishes away.
"What're we doing after school ?" I ask.
"Um I didn't have anything specific to do, what's up ?" She ask.
"I don't know tomorrow is senior skip day they heading to the beach so I won't have any homework tomorrow" I say.
"Just chill then Indy you going to the beach tomorrow, just invite August and Mandi over for dinner I'll make Arroz con pollo, plantano y frijoles negro ( Rice & Chicken , Plantains & black beans).".
"Yum sounds great will do" I say smiling.
"Let's get you to school" She says grabbing her bag.
Arriving to school I grab my book bag then wave Tika goodbye. This school could not get any worse it isn't even the school nor the teachers well some of the teacher are good. The students transferring from who know where are making this place a mess.
"Best friend!" Mandi says hugging me.
"Hey Bestfriend ! Hey Steven" I greet them.
"What's up Indy ? Welcome back" He says hugging me.
"It's great to be back" I say smiling. "Dinner at my place around 7?".
"I'm down!" Steven says laughing.
"Of course you are" Mandi and I say at the same time.
"We need to hit another party" Mandi whines.
"No we don't" I say.
"Girl we about to graduate soon we need too! Well college parties are way more lit so I can wait till then" She says laughing.
"I can't wait to start our new life it's going to be amazing" I say.
"Same" Mandi says.
"Bye baby" Mandi kisses Steven.
"Ew" I say scrunching up my face.
My phone vibrates in my pocket; I pull out it's a message from August.
"What you want to eat after school ?".
"Get us some McDonald's" I reply.
"Bet. Love ya baby girl".
"Love you too Aug".
"Ms.Robinson would you like to put the phone away?" My teacher ask.
"Sorry" I say putting it in my bag.
"Alright class first thing first we got a new transfer from Mrs.G class she has to finish up her course here so welcome her" Mr.Lance says.
"Hi" She says shyly then goes back to her seat.
"Why don't you sit with Indyah I'm sure she has no problem catching you up on what we've been doing" He says.
I mentally roll my eyes at him. I raise my hand letting her know who I am. I look back at Mandi she begins laughing. "You in this too" I say.
"Hi I'm Taty" She says sitting on the right side of me.
"Indyah... this is my friend Mandi" I say.
"I haven't seen you around, you must keep to yourself" Mandi says.
"I do , I try to just keep to myself while I patiently wait to graduate" She says.
"How old are you?" Mandi ask.
"18 how about you guys?" She ask.
"17.".
"Same" Mandi says.
"That's cool" Taty says.
I give her a few notes on what we've done so far and what will be on the final exam. Her and Mandi chat it up the whole period about shopping, partying. I examine her small frame she seems fragile. Soon as the bell rings I grab my stuff and make my way towards my second class.
"She seems cool invited her to hang with us after school" Mandi says.
"Why?" I ask looking at her.
"Well why not ? She seem cool and she ain't got no friends out here " Mandi says.
"I guess.".
"Girl don't be jealous or something".
"I'm not in just saying we don't know her, let's just go to second period" I say continuing to walk.
-------------- Later that evening.
"Why would you invite her to your place?" I ask Mandi.
She hasn't know this girl for more than a few hours and she invites her over her place. Something isn't right about this girl she way too damn quiet.
"Look she cool people give her a chance Indyah" Mandi says fixing the dinner table.
Tika cooked the meal and is bringing it over here. August is bringing deserts with him on his way here. I set up the cup and plates.
"I guess.".
The door bell goes off I go answer the door. "Hey" I say hugging Tika.
"What's up baby sis? Hey Mandi" She says setting the food on the counter.
"Nothing much trying to understand how Mandi let this girl in our little clique so damn easy" I say.
"Indyah chill ! Tika when you meet her you'll see why... She ain't go no friend or here so why not right ?" She ask Tika.
"I don't know I'm going to wait till I meet her" Tika says.
The door bell goes of again. "Mandi get that I'm going to the restroom" I say.
"Girl stop your outfit is cute ! August will love the look" She says laughing.
"Nobody stunning August" I say knowing damn well I'm lying. Examining my dress I then fix my hair.
"Hi baby" I say walking up too August.
"What's good baby girl? You look good" He says pulling me into a hug. The smell of his cologne hits my nose, he smell so good.
"Thanks baby" I say smiling.
"We all here let's eat ya boy hungry!" He says laughing.
"Nope we have one more person coming" Mandi says.
"Who?" He asks with a eyebrow raised.
"This girl Taty we met today at school.. oh there she go so we don't have to wait long" Mandi says.
"You good?"August ask looking down at me.
"I'm good baby" I say smiling.
"Hey Taty ! Come on in meet my crew you already know Indyah".
"Great seeing you again Indyah" She says smiling.
"You too" I give her smile back.
"This is August... and this is Tika" Mandi says.
"Great to meet you both" She says.
We all get our plates and begin getting our food. Taty look over at August then start smiling. I ignore whatever that is and begin eating.
"This is so good" I say.
"I agree" Taty says.
"Well thank you ladies" Tika says.
"So are you going to the beach tomorrow Taty?" Mandi ask.
"I want to but I don't have a ride up there so probably not" She says.
"You can ride with us..." Mandi says.
"I don't think there's going to be enough space" I say.
"That's fine I don't want to intrude" Taty says.
"You won't be girl! We renting a big ole jeep" Mandi says.
I give Mandi the death stare. Mandi looks at me and gives me a innocent smile. "Yeah that works" I say.
After dinner we all sit around the television and eat the cake August bought. August wraps his arm around me. "Try it" I say feeding August a piece of cake.
"It does taste good" He says licking his lips.
"Are you too together ?" Taty ask.
"Yeah" August says.
"You guys are adorable" She says smiling.
"Thanks" August and I say.
