Annora's POV
"Golf course?" I said. "Really?"
"What? You don't think breaking into a golf course at 2 am in the morning is badass?" Ashton said.
"Not really, not if it's 2 am in the morning" I said, shrugging.
"What's wrong with 2 am?"
"It's 2 am, there's no one so there's no risk you know and plus we are in a golf course. What are we doing here exactly" I said, playing with the hem of my shirt.
"Come on, I'll show you" He said.
He walked ahead of me not looking back to check on me. I guess that's the reason why I did, really. I followed him from behind until he stopped to a vehicle the one that you usually used on a golf course.
"Tada!" He said, opening his arms wide directing it to the vehicle.
I wanted to say something, to ask or something about what we're going to do but Ashton hopped on the vehicle patting the seat next to him.
"Come on" He said, smiling as he looked back and forth between the seat and me like he was beckoning me to seat on it. And I did.
"Hold on tight!" He said chuckling.
I don't know what's coming next and I don't think I want to. I hold on to the handlebar beside me praying for the best.
He started driving, zooming on the green grass in all sorts of direction.
"Are you sure you know how to drive this thing?" I said.
"Nope" He said, popping the 'p' sound.
"Right." I said.
It was terrifying but fun. You can feel the fast air hitting your hair and blowing your hair like the one when you walked past a person that's running really fast, only this is ten times faster or more. Then I saw a slope ahead of me, grabbing onto Ashton's arm while he was driving.
"Ashton!" I screamed.
"Hold on!" That was all I got out of him.
We drove up the slope and hitting the ground hard making both of us thrown out of the vehicle. I let go of Ashton's arm and fell down on my hands and butt, checking my hands to see if it was okay. My hands was red and my butt was sore. I saw Ashton a few feet from me on the other side of the sand pit.
Before I could say anything, he was running towards me checking in on me.
"Oh shit. I'm so sorry I thought I had control...I don't know....I don't really have an excuse for this....I'm so sorry Caroline" He said.
Ashton's POV
Shit. What the hell have I done. I looked at the other side of the sandpit, seeing Emily checking on her hands. I felt so bad, I stood up and ran towards her. Now I caught her attention, she looked up eyeing me. I bend down and started apologising to her. I felt so bad.
"Oh shit. I'm so sorry I thought I had control...I don't know....I don't really have an excuse for this....I'm so sorry Caroline" I said.
She didn't seem to say anything until she started laughing. A genuine laugh. She was laughing and she pulled her head back letting her brunette hair get dragged by the wind. She was laughing so hard and it was cute. She was clutching her stomach, still laughing. Her laughs become more louder and it became to one of those breathy laughs. Now she had one of her hands covering her mouth and the other one still clutching her stomach trying to calm herself down.
"I'm sorry it's embarrassing but it's...." She said after she stopped laughing.
"No it's not" I said cutting her off. "Your laugh was cute"
She smiled shyly on the ground before continue saying "It's I don't know, it's the best fun I've had in weeks"
"So you're not angry?"
"Are you kidding? No way, it was fun. Thanks for bringing me here" She said as she walked in the middle of the sand pit and lie down on her back.
I pulled out two bottles of beer from the inside pocket of my jacket handing it to her. She propped herself on her elbows turning so only one of her elbows is supporting her while she took the beer that I was handing her with her other hand.
"Where'd you get this?" she asked.
"I stole it from the boat"
"Really? When? I was with you all the time"
"It was my ninja skills" I said laughing.
"You're lame" She said laughing.
"At least you laughed" I said shrugging.
"I took it when we went out when we past the cooler" I said.
"So you stole it? Total badass"
"I guess"
We laughed. I helped her opened the bottle of beer and she muttered a 'thanks' to me. I began drinking mine letting the bitter liquid roll down my throat.
"So what do you want to do now?" I said.
Annora's POV
"So what do you want to do know?" He asked.
"I don't know I thought you're the man with the plan" I said chuckling.
"I am" He said.
"We can just stay here you know and star gaze, the sky looks really pretty tonight."
He sat down his legs on the ground in front of him like two rods. I sat up, place my empty beer bottle on the ground letting it roll and lie down, putting my head on his thigh. We both watched the sky, a peaceful silence surrounding us.
"Sooo" I start. "What's your last name?" I said.
"Irwin" He said.
"What kind of name is that?" I said laughing.
"There's nothing funny about my name" He pouts. "What's yours then?"
Shit. What is my last name.
"Rose" I blurted out.
"Nice" He said, putting his fingers through his hair.
I looked up at him.
"Do you really need those things?" I said.
"What thing?" He asked.
"Your specs, do you really need them?"
"Yeah, partially blind. If I don't wear it then I can't see your pretty face can I? Why, you don't like it?" He said.
"No no, I do just asking that's all"
Not long after the familiar silence returned, surrounding us while we looked back up enjoying the scenery.
"Why do you always visit the cafe late at night especially on Wednesdays and Fridays?" He said, breaking the silence.
"So you have been observing me!" I said, laughing.
"It's not hard to notice if you come to the cafe and sit at the same place every time" I said chuckling, sipping the last bits of my beer.
"I don't know. I guess because they have great coffee" I said.
"Don't you sleep?"
"Nope, I mean I used to until things kind of went downhill and I couldn't sleep so I went out to keep the thoughts away"
"It's hard though...you know keeping those thoughts away.."
I kept quiet because he was right and I know he knows it too because he laid back a little more his hands still supporting his body and he didn't asked anymore questions.
"But I keep myself busy, with books and music" I said.
I didn't know why I said it but something about Ashton made me wanted to open up a little more, anything to keep the conversation going. Not like I usually was keeping it bottled inside.
He kept quiet only nodding. We continued watching the stars and soon enough sleep took over.
Ashton's POV
I didn't know she was sleeping until she tilt her head to the side trying to make herself more comfortable. She turned herself facing me as I could feel her breathing on my stomach. I checked my watch and it was 5am. I felt my hand finding their way to her hair starting to stroke it and twirling it around my finger.
Annora's POV
"Wake up Caroline!" I heard a voice said.
Grunting, I woke up seeing Ashton shaking my shoulder asking me to wake up.
"Come on!" He said. I sat up as Ashton stood up and pulling me from the ground.
We started running. The first thing I saw was the sun shining brightly on us and then I heard some shouting. I turned around and I saw a guy probably around his 40's wearing a white polo shirt flinging his golf club in the air like he was scolding somebody. I soon then noticed he was looking at us. We were still running until he shouted.
"Get off my golf course or I'll call the police!" The man with the white polo shouts, he was running towards us with his golf club looking ridiculous. He was trying to catch up which I bet he couldn't with his bony legs showing under his khaki shorts. I found it odd about his clothing choice too. Khaki shorts to the golf course? Well....
This only made me run faster controlling my laughter as we made over to a fence as I climbed over it. We continued to run, stopping when the golf course was out of vision. Ashton stopped running putting both of his hands on either of his knees taking fast breaths and started laughing with me.
"Now that, that was badass" I said after I could breathe properly.
He nodded, still panting.
"Well I better head off, thank you for the night, it was....nice" I said, hugging him.
"Are we going to see each other again?" He asked.
"Of course, you know unless you're not working at the cafe anymore" She said laughing.
"Right, of course" He said.
I walked off making my way back to my house.
