Alone and Free (Poetry-Drawings)

Until I die

The night is dreary and cold,
I have no plan to go home tonight.
The only thing awaiting me is a mother growing old.
I'd rather stay out here than go home and fight.
I will probably get a speech from mom,
But I really don't seem to care.
It is almost morning so I head back home,
There is something wrong in the air.
I strain my eyes to see mom waving at me,
She's holding a tray of freshly baked cookies.
I roll my eyes thinking how embarrassing this would be,
If any of my friends saw her right now.
I began to yell at her to go back inside,
Quickening my pace towards the stop sign.
I flip my grey hood over, trying to hide.
Then I see her moving across the walk line.
"Where do you think you're going?" She asked.
"Ugh mom, just leave me be."
I looked away and started running, I heard a gasp.
"STOP!" She screamd. I turn to see a car coming my way.
I heard a loud honk, Mom lunged at me and pushed me hard,
I landed on my butt on the pavement.
Tears began to pour out as I saw her lying bloody and scarred.
"Mom! Nooooo! I am so sorry! It's all my fault!"
I picked up her head and sat it on my lap,
She looked me in the eye and told me never to forget.
That I was a blessing to her every single day,
Even with all of the worries I gave, I should never have regrets.
For I was her little baby no matter what I did,
She said when I was born, she told me not to fret,
And that her love would last eternally.
"I will love you until my dying day, even until my last breath."
She smiled so softly and closed her eyes then she was swallowed up by death.
