••Alex's POV••
"Alex!!" James yelled as he ran towards me.
"You finally said my name right." I smiled, kissing his cheek.
"Mommy was teaching me." He giggled and hugged me
"That's awesome." I whispered
"Hi sweetheart." My mom said embracing me in a hug. As soon as she did I broke down in tears.
"Shhh, it's ok, in here for you baby." She whispered.
I still can't believe I left Jack back in Los Angeles. I didn't want to, but seeing him everyday was hard knowing I can't give him what he wants. Even if he said otherwise I know he wants a baby. We both do.
"Alex why are you crying?" James frowned as my mom pulled away.
"Is Jack ok?" He gasped
"He's ok, don't worry." I assured.
At least I hope he is.
"Let's go home yeah?" Mom asked, I sighed and nodded.
The car ride was silent. My mom didn't ask any questions which I'm really thankful for. Because if she did I would've broke down again and I really don't want that. I can still remember Jack's face when I left a couple hours ago. He was broken, but he understood that I needed time. We both do. The car ride with him to the airport was so silent I could hear him breathing. He kept biting his lip, a thing he does when he's upset or nervous. I had to stop myself from kissing him because I knew that as soon as I did I would've canceled my flight and stayed with him.
But I couldn't, cause we both need this, we need time. I love him so much and I hate myself for doing this to him when all he's done is love me, protect me and put up with all the rude things I say to him. I honestly don't know how he does it but I'm grateful for that. He's my everything and I just don't like hurting him.
"We're here." My mom said snapping me out of my thoughts. I looked up to see the brunette walking out of the house with a smile on his face.
"Danny." I whispered, quickly getting out of the car and running towards him. He chuckled and hugged me
"What are you doing here?" I asked since he was supposed to be in Miami
"Well yesterday when I called mom she told me you were coming so I wanted to see my little sister." He explained pulling away from the hug. When he looked at my face he frowned
"What's wrong?" He asked
"Why would something be wrong?" I mumbled, he scoffed
"I've known you all my life, I know when something's wrong." He said
"I'll explain to you inside." I said, he nodded.
"I'll help you with your bag." He said taking it from my hand.
"Thanks." I smiled at him, he nodded
"How's Jack?" Daniel asked go to the house
"Actually the reason I'm here kinda has to do with him." I said to him
"Wait are you guys fighting?" He asked with a frown on his face
"In a way I guess we are." I frowned
"I'm so confused right now." He chuckled
"Me and Jack have been trying to have a baby." I said to him. He stopped what he was doing and paid all his attention towards me.
"I have infertility which means it's hard for me to carry a baby." I looked down in shame.
"We've been fighting a lot these past months for that reason, it's usually me who starts it." I confessed to him
"That's why you're not wearing your ring?" He asked, I looked down at my wedding finger and frowned.
Trust me when I say this, that was the hardest thing I've ever had to do but I knew that it was for the best, at least for now it is. I hated to see his face when I swear those words came out of my mouth, it was like I had his heart in my hands and I broke it, and I don't think I'll ever be able to forgive myself for that I just hope he can. Because I love him more than anything in this world. I just really hope that what I did was right and that I don't end up regretting it in the end because I wouldn't be able to bare with the pain of losing him
"I-I called the wedding off." I stuttered out, finally answering Daniel's question. He sighed and nodded.
"How'd he take it?" He asked sitting down on a nearby chair. I bit my lip and sat next to him.
"He was sad, heartbroken. God I'm a horrible person Daniel." I murmured burying my face in the palm of my hands.
"No you're not Alex, don't say that. Jack understands what you're going through." He assured.
"But we were supposed to go through this together, and I left him all alone. I'm a horrible girlfriend Danny." I said looking up at him.
"No you're not, you're hurting, so is he. And sure maybe it would've been best if you stayed with him but you also need to clear your mind, there's nothing wrong with that Alex, it doesn't make you a horrible girlfriend, it makes you human." He said embracing me in a tight hug.
"I miss him so much." I sobbed against his chest.
"Why don't you call him?" He whispered in my ear. I shook my head
"Alex come on, you can't hide from him forever." He said sternly, pulling away from the hug.
"I know, just a week." I mumbled wiping away my tears. He sighed
"What's gonna happen when the week is over? When you're just about to land in LA, what are you gonna do then?" He asked.
"I'm gonna say I'm sorry, and hopefully he forgives me." I mumbled.

"He looks so much like dad." Daniel said looking at one of Dad's baby pictures and one of James. The similarities are insane, it's like James were to be my dads twin brother. After the talk we had my mom had taken a picture of James and I wanted to compare it with one of dads. It took us about half an hour just to find one but when we did we instantly saw the similarities.
"Yeah." I mumbled as I stared at dads baby picture. I really miss him, I wish he was here to tell me what to do.
"You miss him, don't you?" He asked snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Don't you?" I asked him.
"We all do." He replied with a nod
"When I found our mom was pregnant, all I could think of is what dad would feel." I sighed.
"I mean Summer is basically the smallest, well until James was born. But he never got the chance to meet him." I frowned.
"It's been two years Daniel, I just don't know anymore." I bit my lip as I put the picture down.
"This is why I never wanted him to join the army in the first place." I said looking up at him.
"Yeah well me either, remember when I dropped out of school? I started hanging out with the wrong crowd and disappointed mom beyond belief?" He asked, frowning at the memory. I nodded. That's the reason Daniel graduated the same time as us, he started doing drugs, getting drunk every other night and getting into fights with random guys.
When I found out he was doing drugs I immediately talked to him, I cried to him, begged him to stop, but at the time he was too hard headed to listen to me. He was seventeen at the time while I was sixteen. Summer had just turned fifteen so we hid it from her. Till this day she doesn't know about it.
As days went by Daniel got worse so I dropped out of school too, it seems ridiculous but I followed him everywhere. I made sure he didn't do things he wasn't supposed to. But it went on like that for a whole year and seven months.
The thing that finally made him stop doing was all those things was Summer. One night when I snuck out to follow Daniel she must've been up as well because she followed me. I didn't know at the time so I kept going, but I swear if I would've known I would've stayed home and made sure she was ok. That night I followed Daniel to a party, with kids twice our age, so there was of course drugs and alcohol involved. While I looked for Daniel she got lost in the crowd, full of hormonal boys and lots of alcohol mixed with drugs.
~~Flashback~~
"Daniel!" I yelled pushing through the girls dancing way too adult like, of course they made sure to glare at me since I was wearing my pajamas.
"Danny!" I gasped as I saw him take a drink from a beer bottle. When his eyes met mine they instantly went wide.
"What are you doing here Alex?" He hissed dragging me out of the house.
"Looking for you! How could you do this to us Daniel?" I yelled, feeling tears in the brim of my eyes. He let out a frustrated sigh as he ran his hand through his gelled hair.
"You're not supposed to be here Alex." He said sternly
"Neither are you!" I yelled back
"Don't you care about us Danny? Me? Mom? Summer? She doesn't know you do this, how do you think she would react if she found out her brother did drugs?" I sneered at him, he frowned
"She doesn't have to know." He replied, shaking his head.
"She'll find out eventually if you keep doing this Daniel, you don't get it do you? You're not just hurting yourself, you're hurting us too." I frowned
"Let's get you home Alex." He said grabbing my wrist and pulling me back into the house full of teenagers.
"Leaving so soon Daniel?" A guy who looked in his twenties asked him.
"Yeah, my little sister followed me so I have to take her back." Daniel said looking over to me. The guy nodded
"See you next week?" He asked.
"We'll see." Daniel mumbled before walking towards the crowd with me still in his grip. A familiar scream caught both our attention as we saw Summer being dragged upstairs by some guy who clearly took one too many drinks.
"Hey!" Daniel yelled at him, but the guy didn't hear him over the music and continued to pull her upstairs.
"We have to help her Daniel." I said pulling him towards the stairs
"Daniel I can't do this by myself." I frowned, looking back at him to see him lost in his thoughts.
"Daniel snap out of it!" I yelled punching his shoulder.
"Summer!" He yelled pulling me up the stairs. We looked everywhere but couldn't find her.
"Where is she?" Daniel yelled punching the wall.
"Alex!" Summer's voice yelled from a room we had yet to look in. Daniel quickly ran over to it and barged in.
"Get off her!" Daniel yelled yanking the drunk guy off Summer and punching him the face, making him fall face first into the carpet.
"Summer oh my god." I gasped running over to her and embracing her in a tight hug. Her button up pajamas were now on the floor, as my little sister cried into my chest.
"Sum." Daniel murmured walking over to her. She looked over to him before getting out of my grip and running over to our older brother.
"I'm so sorry." He whispered in her ear as she cried her heart out. It wasn't till the next day that we found out that the guy had drugged her, so by the next day she didn't remember anything. We didn't tell her either, it was a memory that we didn't want her to relive.
"You need to stop Daniel, our little sister almost got raped." I cried out. He slowly nodded as he kissed her forehead.
"I promise." He whispered.
~~End Of Flashback~~
"But you changed." I assured him.
"Only until I saw what almost happened to Summer, if not I'd probably still be the same." He sighed.
"Maybe, but what matters is that you stopped." I nodded.
"That's why I'm so protective over both of you, I don't want anyone hurting you." He replied.
"I know." I smiled and nodded.
"I'm really sorry for putting you through that." He frowned, I waved him off.
"We all make mistakes Danny, but not all of us learn from them. You did." I said making him smile. You see Daniel is only one year and nine months older than me, I'm one year and six months older than Summer. Basically my mom and dad wanted kids, and fast. So we're all a year and a couple months apart, well except for James.
"Yeah, I guess." He mumbled.
"Hi guys!" James yelled running over to Daniel's lap.
"Hey buddy." Daniel chuckled as he kissed his cheek.
"Wat you talking bout?" He asked cutely, I smiled
"Grown up stuff." I said bopping his nose, he huffed and crossed his arms over his chest.
"When will I be grown up?" He asked
"When you turn eighteen." Daniel replied
"But dats gonna take forever!" He whined
"Trust me, it'll go by fast." I assured
"Alex, how's Jack? Why didn't he come?" He asked with a frown on his face, I tensed up at his name.
"Well, I-"
"He has a lot of work." Daniel said cutting me off, I sighed in relief. I really didn't know how to reply.
"Oh, he's writing songs?" He asked, his eyes filled with curiosity.
"Yeah." I nodded. We spent hours talking, eventually my mom came in and we talked some more. It went from tears to laughter, and to tears of laughter. This was the longest I had smiled in a day, the only ones left were Summer and my dad. Before we knew it the sun started to set so my mom took a sleeping James to his room.
"The week will go by before you know it, then you'll be back with Jack." Daniel assured, I nodded.
"Don't push him away Alex, he loves you, he's hurting to." He said to me
"I won't." I assured with a nod.
"Goodnight Alex." He smiled, placing a kiss on my forehead.
"Goodnight Danny." I smiled back. He nodded before walking out of the room and closing the door behind him. I sighed and laid down before drifting off with nothing but Jack on my mind.
