"Hey Grace."

"O hi!" I pulled the ear phones of my ears and smiled.

"You ready for that big science test?" Cindy grinned from ear to ear.

"No, but I bet you made notecards to study. Didn't you?" Cindy turned red and pulled out notecards from her bookbag.

"No." She said lengthening the word. Cindy had dark blonde wavy hair that went down to the middle of her back. But to hide the length, Cindy would try and pull it up into a ponytail to cut off some inches.

"Boo!" I screamed and everyone turned to look at me and Samantha laughed at me. Samantha had popped out at me, she was my best friend, I had known her forever. Sam (Samantha) recently enrolled in my school. I hadn't seen her in years, when she first came. We had a growing friendship, until Lucy came in. She was a drama queen and thought she ruled the school.

She destroyed friendships, mostly mine. I was once her best friend until we got in a fight and things were never the same. I still see myself as a last resort sort of friend. I am in a little group and we call ourselves the "Outsiders'. Because we aren't popular and don't drink or smoke weed. But, I like my position, because I am friends with everyone but Lucy.

Lucy hated my guts and I tried to never let her bother me. I told my best friends, Cindy, Samantha, and Karen about my surgery on my nose. I was really nervous everyone was going to make fun of me. But, they promised to be by my side, through thick and thin. And they were...

Samantha's carmel, usually messy hair was straightened, and her uniform was pressed. The perfect and acceptable amount of makeup was applied on her face, carefully hiding her acne. Spitting image of a A+ student right? Sure, you could say that, but let's just say we never really listened in most of our classes. There are more important things then learning about the fall of Rome, or mathematical equations.

My naturally straight tree-bark-color hair is pulled up sleekly into a ponytail and my uniform isn't...well let's just say not pressed. My freckles are shining bright this morning, curtesy of my new face wash, that has been leaving my skin dry.

It was Wednesday and it was also the day of my surgery. I had already had my first mole removed in the summer. They numbed my nose and.... I was awake during everything but I couldn't feel anything. Since this has happened before, I was prepared but still nervous. First, the doctor injects a needle into the part in which she will be working on. The needle has numbing fluid in it, and hurts for a little while, sort of like a bad bee sting.

Lunch passes.....

"Hey, I will see you later." I whispered to Samantha and she mouthed a 'good luck'. "Mrs. Johnson, I have to go. To a doctors appointment." I said with my hand raised. She nodded and I left.

The little sugery lasted an hour, while I was blasting Taylor Swift. The doctor tells me nicely to close my eyes, and I listen. A circular piece of paper is placed on my head, with a huge circle cut out in the middle, and right in the center of that is where my nose was. I left at around 3 p.m., just as school was getting out. I babysit after school so I had to rush home and go over to their house and babysit. My face boiled because of the bandage on my face. But who cares about what a little 6th grader and 3rd grader say?! I mean really.

With that thought in my mind, I marched over there but grew shy and I felt hot tears on the sides of my eyes. I couldn't do this, I wasn't ready. I mean what if they say something?! I had already planned out a story, saying I was playing with my dog and he scratched my nose. Sounds real right? No, not  really. I covered my face with my hands, and wished that my dad was with me, or someone so they would comfort me.

As if God, heard my prayers, my phone rang and it was Samantha! I answered with a croak and she started gabbing on about school. Asking how I felt, and she wanted to come over and make me soup. It's very hard to be upset when you're on the phone with Samantha, because she makes you feel good on the inside and out.

"So, ya coming to v-ball tonight?" She asked, the stupidest question. Of course, I couldn't go, I mean what if I was hit in the nose with a volleyball?!

"Of course not!" I said sacrasticly. "I can't what if my 'best friend' Lucy desides to throw a volleyball at my nose." There was a big gush of laughter on the phone and I couldn't help but laugh along with her. My laughs were ceased when the kids I babysit walked up to me and started asking 20 questions. I hung up the phone and ignored them. Who cared what they said anyway. They started asking about my nose and I started sniffling. I couldn't do this, never. I might as well transfer schools.

I was let go at 5:30 when the parents came home. They looked at my nose, but were to scared to ask about my nose.  I walked out with last weeks pay, burning in my pocket. In a half hour, I had volleyball practice, but I wasn't going. My nose started aching as the cold nipped at the stiches.

I popped some Advil and turned on the tv. My family was going out to dinner, but I said I wasn't hungry and went upstairs to my parent's room. I closed my eyes with a drone of Pawn Stars in the background. By 7:30 p.m. my parents had called and asked if I wanted to get ice cream and I again replied no. My excuse was my nose so I was off the hook. Right after my parents called, Samantha called with an angry slurr of swear words.

"What's wrong?' I asked.

The phone went silent.

"Grace, Lucy found out. About your surgery. And she told all the girls...Grace? You there?"

I had no words and just stared at the phone. Wet tears, tears of anger, tears of fear, tears of embarressment, and tears of regret hit my cheek. I sobbed for a solid 10 minutes and Samantha was cooing on the phone.

I was in total shock, and said I wanted to transfer schools. Sam relunctlently agreed, she said she didn't want me to go, but she wanted what was best for me. I beat my pillow as more tears piled out. I had done nothing and now I had to pay the 'price for nothing'.

Tears will only make it worse I thought as I rubbed my nose. But I couldn't help it and sighed and hung up the phone. I threw my head on the wet pillow and balled. Nothing was ever going to be the same, no one is ever going to let me live this down.

My world is crashing down and there is nothing I can do about it....
