Sitting in the Jackson’s kitchen felt so normal yet weird. I froze when I heard the door open. In walked the guy that I thought I would have at my side as my mate Levi….. and next to him was a very happy and content looking Tia.
“Claudette?” Levi’s deep voice asked.
I turned around and faced the happy couple. I couldn’t help but feel a wave of jealousy sweep through me when I saw their mated marks on there necks. Levi looked as amazing as ever… if not more so because he had the most content look on his face which was now tainted with confusion.
Tia looked naturally beautiful. I couldn’t help but wonder if I would look like that the morning after my own mating. I waved a small wave and smiled softly.
“Morning” I said honestly.
Tia blushed as Levi wrapped his arms around her lovingly.
“Morning, whats happened is everything ok?” Levi asked suddenly after noticing Christian and Dante in the room with me.
“Actually No its not, Claudette’s penthouse was attacked, we’re currently in the process of relocating her to a safer location”. Dante said as he walked up behind me and placed a hand protectively on the small of my back.
Looking up I noticed both Christian and Levi narrow their eyes at this small action.
“Is there anything we can do to help?” Tia asked with the same concerned expression that her mother had held last night.
Christian now stood up and stood on the other side of me. “Thanks for the offer but we have it all under control” he said looking at me as he spoke his brown eyes softening as he looked at me.
Rolling my eyes I jumped out of my chair and gave Levi a big hug. “I’m really glad you found your mate” I turned and hugged Tia “Congratulations” I said as she smiled at me.
“And NO I wouldn’t think of separating the 2 of you” I said looking at Tia. She gave me a little look of shock as she nodded. “How did you?” she started.
“know?” I finished her sentence
“If I were you I would be thinking the same thing” I said. We all knew that I had the royal gift to take a mate and create bonded mates if I wished. But no matter how much I may have wanted Levi as a mate in the past I loved him as a friend and wanted only his happiness. Seeing how much he adored Tia I couldn’t never take that away from him.
Dante’s phone rang and he excused himself again. This time into Ian’s office which was sound proof.
I sat down as Levi and Tia joined me. “So you guys are officially mated huh” I said taking a sip of juice.
They looked at each other and smiled. Tia laced her hand with Levi when I saw the diamond on her finger. Seeing it the beautiful ring made my stomach drop. “Excuse me for a moment I forgot something” I said as I stood up and smiled apologetically and headed back to my room.
I felt Christian following me as he shut the door to my room.
“I knew this was a bad idea” he growled angrily. “That moron didn’t want to hear it but I just knew it was a bad idea to come here” he growled pacing the room.
I sat on the bed fighting the tears. I wasn’t angry I was just sad….Tia was wearing his grandmothers engagement ring that I always thought would be mine…. And now.. it wasn’t.
I sat there in silence as a solitaire tear slid down my cheek.
“Claudette look at me” Christian whispered.
He crouched in front of me on his knees and moved me to position himself in-between my legs. I could feel his toned body snug against my hips. Having him this close made my heart beat increase and my throat closed up.
“Don’t cry, he’s not the right one for you.. You are beautiful and strong and amazing… you will find someone who will be perfect and adore you” he said wiping my cheek. I stared into his soft brown eyes as his dimples deepened with his sad smile. His muscles straining against his white shirt as his arms slid up and down mine in a comforting manner. Hearing those words roll off his lips caused me to shiver in excitement. My inner wolf was preening at the praise coming from him.
“You really think that?” I whispered.
I leant forward and let him wrap his arms around me into a tight and warm hug. “You’re a princess and your drop dead gorgeous, I KNOW that” he replied
He thinks I'm gorgeous?? No no he’s being polite I thought to myself as I shook my head to clear those thoughts.
“Thanks Christian, I don’t know what I would do without you…” I said softly.
“I will always ALWAYS be here for you Claudette” he said as he nuzzled my neck gently brushing his lips against my skin. The sensation of feeling him this close caused my wolf to howl internally….. Hurry up and turn 18 already, we need to find our mate…. Or mark a mate and soon my wolf whined inside my head.
“Not always….I want you to find your mate soon too” I said as I pulled myself back.
He placed his warm hand on my cheek and caressed it gently. “what if I want you as my mate” he whispered huskily. I couldn’t help but stare at him in shock, I know growing up I used to have the biggest crush on him but never thought he looked at me like that... His eyes kept glancing down at my lips as he slowly inched closer. I closed my eyes waiting for his soft lips to meet mine…..
“OVER MY DEAD BODY” Dante roared as he broke down the door to the room and ripped Christian away from me.
In a second both guys had phased, clothes flying in every direction. I saw a blur of tight toned abs and limbs as both men turned into wolves and started growling loudly while circling and snapping at each other.
“What the HELL is going on in here??” Ian roared as he raced into the room with Levi hot on his tail.
I stood there in shock as the two massive wolves growled at each other. Looking up I saw the pure white wolf that was Dante and the massive light brown wolf that was Christian. They were both eyeing each other up trying to determine a weak point. Both wolves were the best of the best in combat and it showed with how they were stalking each other.
“Christian and I were talking then Dante came in…..” I said looking at the ground embarrassed.
The brown wolf turned to me and made a low whine as he saw me looking ashamed.
“Both of you control your wolves and phase NOW” Ian roared with amazing alpha presence.
I turned around as Levi threw both of them pairs of shorts. The air tingled as both men phased. Dante phased yelling threats towards Christian.
“Keep your dirty paws off her you piece of sh*t scum” Dante yelled as he stormed towards me placing me behind him in a protective position. His body flush against mine as I instinctively placed my hands on his muscular golden back.
“You have no idea what your talking about Jackson” Christian yelled back to Dante. He stiffened as Christian called him by his last name.
“You put your hands on her?” Levi roared standing beside his uncle.
“Calm down both of you” I yelled trying to push past both Jackson men.
“Christian would never hurt me stop being stupid” I growled as Dante pulled me into his arms gently.
“Then what the hell were these two fighting about” Ian asked in a stern voice. For an Alpha he sure had amazing presence that I could see in both Levi and Dante.
“This mongrel was taking advantage of her….We could all see she was hurt after seeing Levi and Tia… and this d*ckhead was trying to convince her to claim him as her mate, she hasn’t even turned 18 yet she’s still technically a pup for gods sake” Dante roared.
“Agh I'm not a pup Dee” I said angrily.
“I know Claud I'm just saying” he mumbled quickly. I looked at him and raised an eyebrow hearing him call me my old nic name.
“Your kidding me right, this is a sick joke?” Levi laughed angrily.
“I wasn’t taking advantage of her! I would never hurt her, unlike you pup!” Christian roared back directing his answer to Dante and the last bit to Levi.
“Will all 3 of you please calm down, we were just talking dammit!!” I said angrily as pulled myself out of Dante’s arms.
“He was about to kiss you!!” Dante growled as his normally sparkly blue eye glowed a dull angry blue indicating his wolf was fighting for control.
“He WHAT?” Levi said now with clenched hands.
“So? What would be so wrong that my first kiss would be with Christian?” I asked quietly.
Christian, Dante and Levi looked at me with surprise.
“not many guys approach a princess…. Let alone a wolf one” I said rolling my eyes.
“Regardless, he’s supposed to be your guard not some player trying to get into your pants” Dante growled again.
“You have no idea how I feel about her” Christian replied stalking forward. “and anyways” Christian started narrowing his eyes at Dante and growled “I saw you holding her hand while she was sleeping last night so don’t talk to me about acting inappropriate as her guard you hypercritical wanker”
“STOP IT NOW” I growled feeling my blue eyes spark like a raging fire as my wolf emerged.
All four men including Ian fell to one knee with their heads bowed. Tia walked in and gasped. “What the hell?” she said looking around to the men on their bended knee.
“Now you two are going to stop fighting, what ever happens between me and anyone else is private and will not be discussed in public like this again do you hear me?” I said angrily.
“Yes princess” they both replied.
I felt my wolf nod in approval and felt her fade to the background as my rational side came back into focus. “Ok that’s enough” I said quietly.
All 4 men nodded and stood quickly.
“What the hell? why where you guys on your knee’s?” Tia asked quickly as she rushed to Levi’s side.
He just shook his head and looked at me in confusion. “I couldn’t help it. The moment I heard the power in her demand my wolf submitted instantly I didn’t have a chance to even think twice” he said looking at me in amazement.
“’I’ve never felt that sort of power from anyone including your father” Ian whispered looking at me as well.
“aaghhh I’m an unmated, unkissed, homeless power freak” I grumbled as I stared at my hands. My wolf was proud of the power she commanded…but the power was intimidating.
“Princess we’re to leave to St Dela Marquez in an hour please be ready then” Dante said in his formal voice as he walked to my door. My heart sank when I heard him refer to me in such a serious manner. I looked up to see him glance at me for a moment with a strained look as he disappeared down the hall.
“I’m going to go for a run” Christian said as he stood up quickly. He stopped in front of me and smiled softly. “Sorry, that wont happen again” he said gently and walked out.
I sat there for a moment thinking…. What did he mean it wont happen again? The fight or the nearly kiss…. Damm my mind was running on hyper drive with everything that just happened.
“Tia honey can you give me a few moments with Claudette please” Levi said to Tia. She nodded with a smile as he kissed her gently and she left the room with Ian in tow.
“Claud” he started.
“Lee its fine… I’m fine honestly” I said looking at my childhood best friend.
“If you ever need me EVER you know I'm just a phone call away you know that right” he said as he wrapped an arm around my shoulders giving me a one armed hug.
“Thanks” I replied quietly.
“I have a feeling both my uncle and Christian have more then professional feelings for you” he said quietly. Looking at him I rolled my eyes.
“Really what gave that away? The jealous outbreak or them trying to kill each other” I said laughing kinda sarcastically.
“Well if you ever need to talk to a someone about it talk to Tia…. She’s been through something similar” he said with a squeeze. “And no sass from you missy I can still kick your scrawny ass” he said playfully.
“na ahh” I replied with a smile… “I’ll just pull my wolfy power and make you bow down to your massa!” I said laughing..
“Master my ass!” he replied trying to tickle me.
“Oh that’s right Tia’s your massa now boi! I laughed as I shoved his hands away and scooted backwards.
“I guess the oracle’s legend is true then” Levi said as he settled back on the bed.
“The what?” I said until it hit me. “OH MY GOSH!! You are NOT saying that its me??” I said in shock.
“It makes sense Claud” He said shrugging as if it was nothing.
I sat there trying hard to remember the legend. Legend in the were community was there was once a wolf born out of wedlock to the royal family (my family supposedly) and although this girl was not officially part of the royal family she was still gifted with some talents manly foretelling the future - as in an oracle.
Legend says that she was killed during the were wars and her last vision was of a Wolf Queen that had the power to control all wolves and Alphas in the world… Over the years each royal daughter in the world had her power tested but none had more power then the reining Alpha King. The test was forgotten about for centuries and was never tried in my grandparents or parents time.
“No no it can’t be me… I was just angry and my wolf pushed her limits there’s no way I am the one in the Oracles legend.” I said shaking my head.
“Claud I think you might be…. I'm going to talk to my father, Christian and Dante. I think it’s important to keep what just happened a secret, there are people out there that will try and hurt you to get that power” he said quietly frowning while deep in thought.
“Do you think that’s why I was attacked?” I asked quietly.
“Possibly but the European monarch was attacked too so I don’t know, it sounds like renegade rouges if you ask me” Levi mentioned as he stood. “Don’t think about it too hard tho Claud… get ready you have a new school to go too” he smiled obviously trying to distract me.
Thinking about the new school I realised he was right… I had to get ready..
