As I sit in my room
A foot from the television set
I think about when I was a groom
And I bet, I thought I had nothing to lose.
For I was born with one sense less
Than anybody else around.
But my wife thought we were blessed
That we still had our feet on the ground.
I never got to hear my son talk
Or listen to my granddaughter sing.
Now I can barely see a flying hawk
Or simply hear a telephone ring.
For I was born with one sense less
Than anybody else around.
With more stress
To try to keep me on the ground.
So I sit here in my room,
Hearing nothing,
Thinking about my life.
For I was born with one sense less,
I am deaf.
