I'm posting this today as a slightly early Christmas present . I'm sorry it's taken so long to be put on here , I've just had a lot of crap happening at home . Also , this is the build up to something seriously big .

Rubbish Day

Damon's POV
“Why is there a crazy woman in my shower?”
Damon called down the stairs , from his bedroom . Damon had woken up , and went into his bathroom , to discover , a naked woman in his shower .
Damon rolled his eyes , when he heard a angry huff from Stefan's room . He and Elena were being amusingly angst ridden . Damon didn't think he couldn't take much more depressing songs echoing around the Boarding House . It was getting seriously boring now.
No-one replied , much to Damon's annoyance . He hated being ignored . So , as usual , he took matters into his own hands .
Damon's bedroom door banged , and out stepped a woman . To the casual observer , she looked mid 20's , tanned , blonde hair , dark eyes . Whatever .
To Damon , she was Lexi , and the most annoying woman on the planet .
“Morning Damon” Lexi said , sauntering down the corridor towards Stefan's room . Damon glared after her , then spoke up .
“Stay out my bathroom crazy woman”
Lexi turned around , her dark eyes filling with anger . Damon stared back at her , with a gaze just as hard .
“What?”
Lexi said , eyes narrowing . Damon struggled to keep a grin from his face , and instantly regretted it .
“You know Lexi , if I didn't know better , I'd think you liked me”
Damon smirked . He was enjoying this far to much to care that Lexi was older than him . And seeing that Stefan was off in Broody World , Damon needed some entertainment .
Lexi glared at him again , and Stefan's door banged open . He stormed out , then saw the angry look on Lexi's face .Damon held back a laugh , loving the way the lines of Stefan's forehead deepened .
“What did you do?” Stefan asked , turning towards Damon . Damon rolled his eyes , and moved to walk down the stairs .
“Nothing little brother”
“Damon”
Stefan growled . Okay , it was more like a purr , but Damon appreciated the effort . He smirked , not turning around .
Suddenly , Damon was flying down the stairs , at a ridiculously fast speed . He couldn't move , blocked against the iron grip of whoever was hitting him .
“Damn you Lexi”
He muttered , as he hit the ground . Lexi had always had a short temper , and Damon loved winding her up . It was the third best part of his day . His first being annoying Stefan , his second , seeing Elena . Lexi lifted something from the floor , and whacked Damon with it . He was stunned momentarily , until he realized what was happening . Damon was lying there , just letting himself by beat up .
'What's wrong with you ?' He questioned his mind , lost for a moment . ' Why are you acting like an idiot?'
His warrior instincts kicked in , and he shoved Lexi of him . Damon smiled , happy with himself .
He stalked out the door , slamming it behind him .
The sun was warm , and the wind whistled through the sky as Damon drove down the road towards the Mystic Grill . He hummed a tune , unsure what is was . It didn't seem important .
Damon didn't want to see Lexi any time soon , so he was venturing out to do his meddling during the day . That was the advantage of having a daylight ring .
He stopped at one of the junctions , and was startled by someone knocking on the passenger window . Damon pulled his gaze from the car in front , which had a very fascinating specimen of women in the back , to the whoever was knocking
on his window .
He rolled the window down , and was surprised to see Elena standing there .
“Trouble in paradise?”
Damon asked . Elena rolled her eyes , cheeks flushed a delightful pink.
“Can you give me a ride?”
Elena said , looking frustrated . Damon was slightly surprised , but shrugged and unlocked the door .
“Step inside Miss Gilbert,”
He muttered , as Elena sunk down in the leather seat , slamming the door .
“Hey! Watch the door”
Damon exclaimed . He'd had this car for nearly 20 years , he didn't want it destroyed now .
Elena glared at Damon , as he drove through town . He attempted to keep his eyes on the road , and not the girl beside him .
“Can you drop me off at school?”
Elena asked . Damon nodded absently , thoughts elsewhere . He was going through the Gettysburg Address in Latin . Damon knew it was pathetic , and it was awful .
“Course”
Damon muttered , switching to Buffy episodes in his mind . Elena sank lower into the seat , and Damon could see she was trying to stop herself smiling .
Damon was really grateful Lexi was here now .
Elena's POV
Elena would never know why she asked Damon Salvatore for a ride .
It was one of those impulsive , crazy things that she did sometimes . That didn't mean it was good .
Elena turned to watch Damon as he drove through town . His hands were tense on the wheel .
“Where are we going?”
Elena said, looking around . They had just drove past the school , and were heading out of town . Damon looked over to her , a smirk spreading across his face .
“It'll be awesome. Trust me”
Damon said , eyes full of amusement . Elena felt a sudden sense of dread overcome her . Damon's eyes glistened , with a deadly spark .
“I want to go home”
Elena said . Damon stared at her , then rolled his eyes , not stopping the car .
“Nope”
Elena groaned . Damon's eyes stayed on the road , as he took each turn expertly . Elena admitted that maybe going on a road trip with Damon might not be to bad, but the kidnapping was just crazy. She glared at Damon, who simply smirked, and turned on the radio . The car sped up, as Damon tapped the beat that only he could hear on the steering wheel .
Elena sighed, slumping back into the leather seat of Damon's car. She looked out the window, thinking , and hoping Damon would turn back .
From the corner of her eye , Elena caught Damon grinning. Damn him.
Damon's POV
Damon knew the second he made the next corner of the road, that something was up. He seriously doubted that whatever this growing feeling of general badness was to do with the fact he was speeding.
Damon spared a glance at Elena . She was still looking out the window, but turned to look back at Damon .
“Damon. What's up?”
Elena asked , a frown creasing her forehead. Damon frowned, really hoping that whatever was out there was an angry rabbit and not a rabid vampire. Stefan never appreciated Damon's bunny jokes .
“Damon?”
Elena repeated . Damon silenced her with a look . He could hear something outside the car, in the darkness of the night , creeping around. And it most definitely wasn't an angry rabbit .
Elena's heart had sped up . It was very difficult to ignore. Damon slowed the car down, tightening his grip on the steering wheel .
“Do you trust me?”
Damon turned to Elena as he asked the question. Elena's eyes widened. Even Damon could hear the seriousness in his voice .
“Yes”
Elena said strongly . Elena always knew what she felt . Damon cocked his head to one side , just taking in the beautiful girl sitting beside him .
“Then duck”
Elena stared at him .
And that's when the vampire(or whatever the hell it was) attacked the car.
The second the car flipped , Damon reached across the car, and pushed Elena's head between her knees . Ignoring her noise of protest , Damon ducked down next to her . The car hit the ground, and Damon held back a groan . Glass shattered on top of him and Elena .
Damon sat up, looking through the smashed glass of his car . Elena sat up too, eyes wide . Damon stared into the night, grateful the car had seat belts . It was a lot better than his old one, which had a very low roof and no radio .
“What the hell was that?”
Elena whispered . Damon didn't answer for a very long time . He couldn't . There was something lodged in his back, something sharp and pointy .
Damon turned back to Elena, trying not to let the pain he was feeling show on his face . Elena stared at him, and Damon knew Elena was seeing straight through him .
“Damon , what's wrong?”
In reply, Damon turned around . He had the feeling it wasn't pretty, as Elena gasped, and her heartbeat increased rapidly.
Damon swallowed back a hiss of pain, when Elena's hand touched his back .
“Can you get it out please?”
He said quietly .
“Okay”
Elena's voice was soft. Damon felt himself tense up as Elena's hand touched his back again . She took a deep breath, and ripped the glass shard from Damon's back . Damon bit his lip, then relaxed as the wound healed over .
He turned back to Elena, eyes widening when he saw how large the glass shard was .
“Let's get out of here”
He said .
Stefan's POV(Sorry about this- completely necessary )
Stefan knew it was wrong the second he attacked Vicki Donovan . It's not like he even knew her, she just happened to be there .
Said girl lay beneath his feet on the pavement , bleeding from the gash in her throat .
Stefan rolled his eyes , wiping the blood from his mouth . He wondered for a moment , if this is what Damon felt like drinking human blood every day .
If it was , then Stefan sure as hell didn't want it to end .
Stefan had never felt so strong at this moment, so powerful . It was awesome in the weirdest sense of the word .
He could literally feel the blood flowing through his veins, filling it with an incredible power.
Stefan's eyes were pulled to the ground , when he thought he saw Vicki twitch . The girl couldn't move yet, Stefan had made sure of it .
Yep, she'd definitely moved . Her eyes flew up open seconds later .
“Vampire!”
