Roman's POV
I close my eyes and rest my head on the window, listening to the car sound as it moves along the road. The drive to the gathering is silent since Nate is asleep. He told me that he spent yesterday awake all night talking to his mate Ron. As for me and Ken, we went to bed late but I got enough sleep that I don't feel like doing so now.
Yesterday was really nice. It is a shame to say that all the time that I've been living with Ken, yesterday was the most that we talked. We just talked about everything while in the garden and when we went back to our room.
My Ken is really worried about me and the gathering. Even though he will be close by, he still thinks it won't be safe. It makes me feel good to know how worried my mate is about me. I'm not worried though, because I know if something goes wrong, he will come to protect me.
"Are we there yet?"
I hear Nate ask with a groan as he sits up straight. He slept a few minutes after we left home and it has been almost two hours since then. I had asked the driver earlier and he said we had a half hour drive to get to where we were going.
"No yet." I reply and Nate shakes my arm. I turn and look at him with a raised brow.
"Can we go over a few things before we reach the place?" He asks.
"No. We go through things with committee members we find there. If need change, we change then." I reply and he nods.
The committee members are none other than the city alpha's Lunas. My Ken's kingdom has four cities; the northern city, southern city, western city and the eastern city. In each city, there are a number of packs and it is looked after one chosen pack. The chosen pack is either the biggest or the richest or the strongest. The four cities have different traditions and beliefs. Felicity had told me all about it.
I watch through the window as we reach the location of the gathering. It is a huge clearing where tents have been set up to accommodate everyone attending. A barb wire fence has been secured around the place. There are four warriors guarding the gate and a few others around the fence. The car is allowed entry through the gate after the driver shows an ID among other things. The car pass through some tents before stopping beside a green one. It is the only tent in green colour and it is the committee meeting room. The tents are in different colours for a reason; identification. Purple for bedrooms. Blue for dining. Pink for bathrooms. Red for kitchen. White is the huge one where the activity meetings will be held. Black for entertainment.
"I'll call you later when we've identified our bedroom tent." Nate tells the driver, Zander, and he drives away leaving us standing by the green tent. Nate walks in first and I follow behind him.
"Who are you?" Someone asks and I step away from behind Nate and stand beside him. There are four people in the room, three girls and one boy sitting on chairs with a table in the middle. They are looking at us so I assume the question was for us.
"I am-" I start to reply but one of the girls cuts me off rudely.
"Oh please, we don't have time for you and definitely not interested to know who you are. Wait for who you want outside."
"Watch your tongue young lady, I may get tempted to cut it off." Nate growls and I hold his arm to stop him.
"They no know us Nate."
"So what? That's no reason for her to be rude."
"Who do you think you are to talk to me like that?" She shouts, standing up from the chair.
"Uh, guys." Another girl calls out and we all look at her. "You have to see this." She nods to her laptop that is on the table in front of her. The other three looks at what their friend is showing them. There is a look of alarm on their faces and they look at the laptop and back to us. The silence that befalls the room is awkward until the laptop girl stands up and walks in our direction.
"You're welcome alpha." She says with a bow.
"Where is Monroe?" The rude girl ask and neither me or Nate replies to her as the laptop girl invites us to the table to sit.
"My name is Kiera Skiers. I'm representing the Southern City." The laptop girl introduces herself. I nod with a smile at her and she smiles in return. She has long wavy golden blond, small hazel eyes and dimples are visible when she smiles.
"I am from Eastern City and my name is Victor Dillon." The boy says with a smile and I nod to him. He is the tallest in the room with black short hair and piercing grey eyes. He doesn't have much muscles on him.
"Hi, I'm Nicolette Gustavo. I come from Western City." This girl has shoulder length straight auburn hair, brown mesmerizing eyes and thin lips. I nod to her and turn to the rude girl who has a rotten expression on her face.
"Is that supposed to be cute? She's scary." Nate snorts and I try my best not to giggle. She really looks scary.
"I suppose I have to introduce myself. Well, my name is Chandler Markus from Northern City." The rude girl says. She has brunette fuzzy long hair with green sly eyes.
Nate scoffs and I know the two have rubbed each other off in the wrong way.
"Thank you for the lovely introductions. I'm Nathaniel and the assistant of the alpha. I'm sure you both know alpha Roman, so I suggest we look up the schedule and correct any mistakes or add and remove necessary and unnecessary activities." Nate speaks up as he passes the schedule to the four people.
"Why must we have five people in a bedroom?" Victor asks.
"Because we want both cities to interact with each other." Nate replies.
"Isn't that too much? I mean we both know that other cities don't get along with each other and having them in a room together will just cause fights to break out among the people. I think we need to avoid such things."
It is true the cities do not get along well sometimes due to different traditions and beliefs.
"I agree with Victor." Kiera says.
"What do you think Roman?" Nate ask.
"Victor is right but I still think we should have five in a bedroom. Not more than two from one city, that way we will have at least three cities in one room. Not all cities don't get along, there are some cities that tolerate each other." Nicolette replies before I do.
"You all right and I agree with Nicolette." I say and Victor nods in agreement as well as Kiera. Chandler is silent and looks annoyed while looking at the schedule.
"Is there someone who this is their first time to attend the gathering here?" Nate inquires.
"Me and Chandler have been here before but Nicolette and Kiera haven't, this is their first time." Victor replies.
"I understand that under the previous King's mate, you had a different schedule happening at this place. I hope you understand that this is not Monroe but Roman and he has the right to change the schedule in his liking. You are given this chance to change by removing something you don't agree with or adding something else. So is there anything that has to be done?" Nate states. We already talked about what need to be done and said, that is why he is doing most talking than me. Kiera and Nicolette agrees with everything on the schedule.
"There are so many changes but I think they will be fine. The activities are fine too."
"How do you expect us to be doing this boring things? Monroe's activities were better than this." Chandler says after Victor voices his opinion.
"Chandler I think it will best for you to catch up with us or else you will be stuck in the past. Which part of Monroe is no longer here don't you understand?" Nate looks annoyed at Chandler.
From the videos of Monroe, I figured that only those on top of the city ladder where enjoying themselves here and making the ones beneath them as their slaves. It is obvious that Chandler were one of those taking advantage and belittling others. That is why she is annoyed and completely disagrees with my schedule.
"Victor and Chandler, you should get all the Luna's that are not here for the first time and bring them first in the activity meeting room. The alpha will address them first before the first timers join them. Any questions?" When no one seem to have any questions, Nate dismiss them and they leave right away.
"You should not let people like Chandler talk down to you. She needs to know her place and respect you. She thinks so high of herself that it is really irritating."
"It not her problem, I understand. Northern wolves acts mighty than others. They wealthy than any city."
"So what?" Nate scoffs and I laugh. He really doesn't like Chandler it seems. Nate is really good at reading people and that's why he talked to me when he was imprisoned by my mate. He said he knew I was a good person and was not threatened by my presence. His judgement on his mate, he thought maybe Ron was bad and that the mate connection was making him believe he was good. I had assured him that night that Ron was a good man. However, looking at Chandler, I don't think I'll be able to tell him otherwise about his views on her.
The northern city is known for it's wealth. The chosen pack of the north is the wealthiest and Chandler comes from there. It's simple mathematics that Chandler is supposed to be the spoiled Luna being mated to the chosen pack's alpha. That is why I understand where her rudeness is coming from. But that does not mean I should let her belittle me. I'll make sure she doesn't cross the line.
I exit the green tent with Nate and head to the activity meeting room. The white tent is already filled with people when we get there. I confirm from Victor that this people were ones who have been here before. I feel a bit overwhelmed standing in front of all the people. There are not more than sixty Lunas before me.
"Hello everyone." Nate greets them and some shout back their greetings. "My name is Nathaniel and I welcome you all at this year's Luna gathering. Thank you for coming back to join us. Before I go further, I would like to introduce you to the current King's mate, Roman. He's the one who has planned this gathering for us." The people shout and claps loudly. I smile then wave at them.
"The reason that we have separately called you here is to let you know of some changes. Roman believes that we are gathered here to enjoy ourselves and learn different things from each other. For this to happen, we need to work together despite the difference between us. It doesn't matter that you come from north or south or east or west or central. We are gathered here as Lunas and there is no need to class ourselves. We are all equal. There should not be a lift between the weak or strong, poor or rich, foolish or wise, because that does not define a person. Gossip, bossing, rudeness or any bad behavior will not be tolerated here. Anyone found to be mistreating others will be dismissed right away. I don't think it will be hard to follow this year's rules even though it is different from what used to be. No one is to be a slave of another or a boss to another. Friends is what is expected of you to each other. The rules will be shared among you and we will talk about the activities once our other friends join us." Nate announces and people start clapping and shouting happily.
In this crowd, there are some people who has the same expression as Chandler. I know they are the ones who will greatly disagree with me but I'm glad a good number of people are genuinely happy about the change. I'll have to look out for any mischief from these disagreeing people.
I am not good with long speeches that is why I wrote down what was needed to be said and gave it to Nate. He will mostly be the one speaking and I'll add in when there is need to do so. Kiera and Nicolette lead the other group inside and once they are settled down, Nate begins with the introductions first before going on about the activities.
The printed rules are shared among the Lunas and I make sure everyone gets one.
