That night I returned home late and it was such a bad idea! My father was waiting for me at the front door with such an angry look that I couldn't help but get scared!
"Where the fuck were you?", he yelled in my face grabbing a handful of my hair, yanking me so we were face to face," huh answer me you little bitch? Where the fuck were you?", he said with such venom!
I stuttered which I shouldn't have; cause he slapped me so hard I could see stars! I shook my head, which my father grabbed me by the neck an slammed me against the wall bashing my head in! My vision blurred but I fought it so hard. I don't know why this happens to me, did I do something to make my dad hate me!
" please..... dad.... please!", I pleaded to him, as tears spilt from my eyes. My father grew more enraged an ran towards me with such rage that I made up my mind, I dodged his attack an ran out the door with whatever strength I had left.
I could hear my fathers shouts behind me, like he was getting closer. And you know the saying where if someone's chasing you don't look back cause you'll lose focus an he'll catch you well, I didn't look back an just kept going.
My head throbbed so badly as soon as I made it into the next street seeming as I don't know how long I ran, I collapsed into the street, letting the darkness consume the last of my strength!

Kaden's P.O.V
"I'm telling you man, something just doesn't.... I don't know..... she's hard to read besides the fact that we know she's being hurt badly!", Tyler rants on and on about Alex!
Alex, I only had seen her a few hours ago when she asked to see me. God, I was stupid for even yelling at her, she was so frightened, my head is just jumbled with Alex! She makes me feel things I once felt when I had my family.
"Dude, just shut up, your giving me a damn headache", I say looking at him with a deadpanned look
" Kaden, I know it bothers you i can see it on your face. You care for her man, it doesn't take an idiot like me to know that", Tyler said with a soft smile, to which I ignored.
I looked out my window as the houses passed by, wondering what the hell this world has turned into!
" what the....?", Tyler says catching my attention, I looked head to see what he was looking at an see someone laying in the middle of the road.
Tyler and I got out as quick as we could but I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw a familiar, shirt, an face
"ALEX!", I yell an kneel down beside her lifting her up, moving the hair from her face to gasp in horror an her bloody eyebrow, busted lip, half the scar on her chin reopened! I squeezed her to my chest ," Alex.... Alex... come one wake up", I shook her slowly an carefully
I heard a soft weak groan come from her an her eyes open just a bit. Hissing in pain", ka...mden", her voice came out scratchy!
I caressed her face," hey.... I'm here... I'm here...", she gives me a weak smile before her eyes rolled in the back of her head'
" Kayden, we have to take her to the hospital", Tyler's says to me to which I nod and gently lift her up. She felt so light in my arms but she fitted perfectly well. I kept her close to my chest as Tyler opened the door for me.
I laid her down gently and got in as Tyler drove fast to the hospital.
I stroked my fingers through her hair and closed my eyes with hatred for whoever did this to her.
" don't worry Kaden, we'll catch the fucker that did this to her", Tyler said tightening his hand on the steering wheel.
" when I find out who did this to her, I swear to god Tyler on my life, I'll kill'em"! I said angry but I calmed when I felt Alex flinch in pain. She started groaning in pain, moving slowly
" Alex, don't move so much", I tell her softly but she just began to cry harder.
"It hurts", her voice so small but I heard it
" where Alex?", I say caressing her cheek
She lays her hand on her stomach an I carefully lift up her shirt to see so many scars an a big bruise forming on the right side of her stomach, possible broken ribs
" Alex, who did this?", i asked calmly my anger wanting to demand who the fuck did this to her!
" please.. don't.. hate me", she said taking deep breaths as she sobbed
I lifted her up jus a bit more an hugged her to my chest," I don't hate you", I said looking in her eyes," but please Alex I want to help you tell me... who did this to you?", I said softly rubbing her arm
She looked at me with sad eyes," if I tell you, he will kill you to", she said looking at my scar, gently tracing it with her fingers, making me shiver," I wont... let.... you ... be my fault to!", she said so quietly before she passed out.
" Tyler how close", I asked but he cut me off," already here man", I looked out to see we made it to the hospital. With a hard nod I lifted Alex up carefully an we rushed in," I need help, NOW!", I demanded. They got up quickly and came to our aide
" lay her on the gurney please!", the nurse asked so I did and wheeled her away to which I tried to follow but they wouldn't let me.
" come on Kaden, lets just wait okay", Tyler says carefully to me and I blew out an angry breath and sat down holding my head in my hands.
Why the fuck would someone do this to her. Why did she say she didn't want me to be her fault. What did she mean by that.

" Tyler do you remember when you were watching us from the trees, you heard her say he will hurt me right?", I asked him with a thought on my mind.
He nodded his head with a faraway look then recognition case to his face," she said my d.... you don't think she was trying to say dad right, cause I found out she only lives with her dad, her mom passed away, no one knows how or why", he said looking at me
I stood up quickly with Tyler following me and went up to the receptionist desk," did you contact Alex's father?", I asked with anger
" we gave him a call, but he is not answering", she said slightly scared at my tone
" I don't want you to call him, understand, I have a bad feeling that what happened to her was caused by her father", I said with desperation
The nurse looked at me oddly then nodded," if you feel she's been endangered by her father than we won't call but an adult needs to be here to release her!", she said looking at the computer," but she doesn't have anyone else on her emergency card or next of kin, or family", she said looking at me
" ill sign her out, I'm 18, she can stay with me", I said with no room for argument. The nurse gave me a tight smile an asked me to fill up an emergency card
Tyler asked the nurse when could we see her but the nurse said it could take a while that they are doing X-rays and a blood transfusion!
" why does she need a blood transfusion?", I asked angered by that
" she had not enough blood in her body to produce a healthy state for her", the nurse said calmly
" what does that even mean?", I asked with frustration to which Tyler told me to calm down
" it means she's been hurt, by the way her wounds are looking, it's been going on for years, possibly around 8 years old, it seems the wounds were conflicted by someone an some wounds were self-Inflicted, she cut hers wrists, so what I'm trying to say is whatever wounds that were open and had lost blood, she never got treated for it thus needed a blood transfusion", the nurse explained. I was shocked to the max
She hurt herself to! Not my Alex, not anymore.

"Kayden?", Tyler asks nudging my shoulder," she'll be find bro, relax, she's a fighter"!
" how long more does she have to fight, to live?", I asked as my heart throbbed with pain for her
" not anymore, because we will be there for her. We will protect her, keep her on her feet, help her to graduate, hurt anyone who hurts her", Tyler said strongly to which I nodded
" For Alex?", a doctor came out. Me and Tyler stood up," how is she?", we asked
The doctor motioned us to follow him
" she has four broken ribs, her chest bone was crushed an pierced her lungs but we took care of that asap. She lost a lot of blood over the years so we gave her a blood transfusion. Her wrist is fractured from I would say landing on it, with the way it shattered I would say from protecting herself. Her scars prove to be years old, approximately from 8 years old till now, some new scars I'm seeing happened a day or two ago", he says to which I held my hand up to stop him.
" Kaden?", Tyler asks me gently
" what do you mean from a day or two ago?", I said angered.
" it seems the cause of it was by a knife, possibly a kitchen knife", he said sadly
I nodded my head for him to continue
" no signs of um.. physical sexual interaction...she's a pure soul", he says making me release a breath I didn't know I was holding. I probably would have lost the last bit of my humanity if she was touched or worse!
" but she's okay?", I asked him my knuckles turning white from squeezing it hard
" she is perfectly fine, although I do request her to eat more and drink lots of fluids, I will be coming in three hours a day to give her pain medication. She'll be here for three or more days depending on how she heals.
Three or more days. Its not fair for her to suffer like this! I won't let her suffer no more. I won't fucking allow it!
" can we see her?", Tyler asked getting a bit giddy to see her
The doctor smiled and showed us her room. We both stood outside her door, feeling nervous and scared for her.
Tyler opened the door an we walked in to see her laying on the hospital bed, with wires hooked up all over her chest, an oxygen mask over her face!
I shook my head at the sight of her but calmly walked up beside her and saw no sign of any movement from her.
" this is fucked up! ", Tyler said angrily running a hand through his hair
I grabbed a chair and sat beside her, gently taking her hand and caressing it softly so I didn't make a wrong move an hurt her.
" it is, but I don't care about that, she's breathing thats good enough for me, I'll find out who did this to her and I'll get him out of her life permanently", I said laying my forehead on our enjoined hands.
" she wouldn't want that bro, we'll find out later but right now she needs us more than ever", he said sitting down on the chair opposite of her and sighed
I looked up at her face to see she looked at peace like she's finally relaxed and not being hurt by whoever did this. I reached my hand towards her cheek and caressed it softly," I'll protect you, from everyone, no matter what, I promise to protect you", I said softly
"You... saved me", a small weak voice said catching mine an Tyler's attention. Alex was awake, and staring at me.
"Alex!", I said with a small smile on my face! She's awake!
