"Hello." I pick up on the third ring.
"Hey, Ethel it's me Tez." Tez says from the other line.
"Hey Tez." I smile.
"Are you busy tonight?" He asks.
"Depends." I smile.
"What do you mean depends?" He asks.
"What you have in mind? I am teasing you." I laugh.
"You, me and dinner?" He asks.
"Burgers?" I ask.
"What kind?" He asks.
"I know a place, send me your address. Heads up don't wear nothing too fancy nor flashy."
I say.
"Why?" he asks.
"It's not the luxurious side of LA. But the burgers are amazing." I say.
"Alright." He says.
To Tez:
I am waiting outside.
From Tez:
I'll be out in a bit.
Minutes later I see Tez coming out of the house. I honk at him causing him to jump, oh my.
"That's not nice." He says.
"It was hilarious." I laugh.
"Buckle up." I say.
"I've never heard of Tams." He says.
"Well your life is about to change, in my opinion it's where you can get the best burgers in LA." I laugh.
"Hola Niña." I look up to see Don Chuy.
"Hola don Chuy." I greet. (Hello, don is used for elder male, so calling them old but with respect.)
"What would you guys like to order?" He asks.
"I'll have a cheese burger with fries and a strawberry milkshake." I say. "What would you like?" I ask Tez.
"A cheese burger with fries and a coke." He says.
"Please and thank you Chuy." I smile.
"Niña have you visited your mother?" He asks.
"Not yet Chuy, tomorrow I'm visit her. You're coming to the get together?" I ask.
"No se. Voy a ver." He says.(I don't know, I'll see). I pay him even if he doesn't want to. Tez and I take our seats.
"You come here often?" He asks.
"Yeah, I've been coming here since I was 9 or 10." I say.
"Wow, long time." He says. I nod my head.
"Enjoy." Chuy places us our food.
"Thank you Chuy." I say.
"Thank you very much."
Tez says.
"No problem kids." He pats my head and leaves.
"Take a bite." I say. He does and he moans oh my, he just moans.
"Wow they're amazing." He says.
"Told you." I smile.
"You should try this dressing it's delicious." I dip a fry in the dressing.
"Wow, can this place get any better?" He smiles.
"So you're from LA right?" He asks as we're walking out.
"Born and raised." I smile.
"Hey Tia Eth." I see Lana running to me.
"Lana, what are you doing out at this time?" I ask her.
"I don't want to go home." She says hugging me.
"Whys that?" I ask.
"They're fighting again." She hugs me tight.
"Lana, your mother must be crazy looking for you." I say. "We need to take you back home." I say.
"Tia Eth can I go with you?" She asks. (Auntie)
"Lana, we'll go to yours and ask your mother and if she says yes then you can stay the weekend with me and we'll buy ice cream and watch movies." I say.
"Okay." She hugs me.
"Lana, this is Tez." I say. She extended her arm and they shake hands.
"Are you dating my aunt?" She ask.
"Lana." I scream.
"I am trying to." Tez says.
"You're cute, hopefully you do. Hopefully you're nice not like her ex boyfriend he was rude." She says.
"Lana." I warn. "Get in the car." I say.
"You don't mind making a quick stop at my brothers?" I ask.
"Not all." He says.
"Thank you." I say as we get in the car.
I park the car.
"Look it's Eth guys." I hear one of the boys say.
"Sup guys. How's everything?"
I ask.
"Just chillin'. Don't worry will take care of you car." James says.
"Lana, your mother is looking for you." Alan says.
"Ohh she's getting her ass beat." Al laughs.
"Shut up Al, she won't." I say.
"Take care of my car." I warn. "If not y'all deal with me." I say.
"Everyone loves you here Eth, nothing will happen to your car." Al says. I nod my head and Tez, Lana and I make our way to her house.
"Erik? Lana?" I call out.
"Eth?" Lana asks.
"What happened here?" I ask cause of the mess.
"He got in a fight with Andrew." She says.
"Would you mind me taking Lana for the weekend?" I ask.
"I wouldn't mind. Can you maybe take Andrew too?"she asks.
"I would love to have them over." I say.
"Andrew." She calls out. "Lana, baby go pack some clothes for the weekend." She says.
"Who's this? I am so sorry for the mess." She apologizes.
"I am Tez, and it's totally fine."
He says. They shake hands.
"Friends or?" She wiggles her eyebrows.
"Lana." I laugh.
"What happened?" Fifteen year old Andrew comes to the living room.
"Tia Eth." He comes hug me.
"Who's this? Boyfriend?" He asks.
"I am Tez." He introduces him self, They shake hands.
"Andrew go pack clothes before your father comes back." Lana says.
"Mommy I am done packing." Baby Lana says coming out with a teddy bear in her arms.
"Did you pack a bathing suit?"
I ask.
"Yes." She says.
"Andrew hurry up." Lana says.
"Why are you so worried?" I ask.
"What are you doing here?" I hear Erik say.
"What do you mean what am I doing here? I am your sister."
I say.
"Don't give me attitude. Eth."
He says.
"Well don't be rude." I say.
"Tia Eth I am ready." Andrew comes into the living room.
"Ethel are you taking my kids with out my authorization?" He asks. "I thought from us you were the smart one." He laughs.
"I gave her permission." Lana says.
"That's why they do whatever they want cause of you." He screams.
"Tez take the kids to car." I say.
