Mikayla's POV:

It was after school, on Friday, and Gabby and I are going to the mall to buy dresses for the party tomorrow. Sadly, Emily has to babysit and Kailee has to go to her cousin's house, so they can't make it. Gabby and I pull into the mall parking lot in my car. We shop and find the perfect dresses. They have to be fancy. On the invitation, it showed a picture of Juliet wearing her dress. It was a dress I would wear to the prom or a really fancy wedding. I knew it was fancy, but this was pretty fancy. But, we had found great dresses. Then, we eat at the food court and I dropped her off at her house.

I woke up Saturday morning at ten. The party started at noon. Which left me two hours to get ready. I walk to my closet and pull out my dress. I am wearing a light green strapless dress, that contained a silver bead design (that sort of reminded me of a wave) around where my ribs were. It wasn't long, it lands right above my knees. I slip on a pair of sliver heels that strap around my ankles. They only made me like two inches taller. I curl my hair and let it fall on my light tan shoulders. Then, I start to apply my makeup. After I apply concealer and powder, I start on my eyes. I apply eyeshadow, mascara, and eyeliner to create a simple smokey eye. I put on a light lipstick color. I strap a phone holder around my thigh and use it to hold my phone. I don't like carrying purses to any kind of parties, or pretty much anywhere.

The door bell rings. I grab my sliver shades and walk out of my room. The door bell rings again. I check the clock. 11:30. It should be Gabby. She was picking me up. I open the door excited.

"Oh. It's you," I say as I see Gavin the door way. I haven't really talked to him since last Sunday. When we... you know... kissed. Not saying I have feelings for him. Just- No! Nothing at all!

"Hey," he says.

He gives me an awkward smile during this awkward silence. Awkward! I find myself doing the same thing. What is going on? He's wearing a navy blue tux. His hair is normal. Still has that bad boy look to it. As I examine him, I notice he's doing the same. Then, our eyes lock.

"What?" I say when he gives me a smile.

"What?" Gavin asks, making his signature smirk.

"What are you doing here?" I ask him.

"Michael," he answers. Of course.

He stares at me. I wonder what he's thinking. He looks pretty cute. What am I saying? That's my annoying brother's annoying best friend! He's not cute! Or hot! Wait, where did hot come from? Out of nervousness, I bite the inside of my lip. What happening to us? This is crazy. He leans in a little and so do I.

A car horn pulls us into reality. Our eyes go wide.

"Not again," I tell him.

"What is happening?" he asks.

"Ask yourself that question," I say sarcastically and push passed him to Gabby's car. "Jerk."

"Gavin?" Gabby asks.

"Duh, who else?" I reply with a smile, which she returns. He's right, what is happening to us? I look at Gabby's dress. She's wearing a light blue, strapless dress, that is short in the front and long in the back. She had beaded swirls on her dress, the exact place where I have my beaded design on my dress. Her really light brown hair was down as well. Soon enough, we reach the country club.

It was huge. A man in a white fancy uniform escorted us to the ball room, where the party was being held. Before walking in, we put on our shades. She had light blue designer sunglasses. I still didn't get the idea of the sunglasses. We walk in to see a lot of people in fancy dresses and tuxedos. It is way fancier than homecoming. We approach Juliet, how's with our dance squad and a few other people we knew.

"Hey, glad you can make it," Juliet says, pulling us each into a hug with a smile. "Where's Emily and Kailee?"

"Emily has to baby sit and Kailee has to go to her cousins," I reply.

"Oh, shame they couldn't come," she says with a frown.

Then, we all start talking. I look around the packed ball room. Such a big place, but so many people. I spot familiar faces. One being my brother and his brainless friends. I see the poor new girl with my brother. I think she's blind to see who see's dating. I go get some punch. After drinking some, I walk to the dark corner where the trash can is located.

"Hello beautiful," I hear a voice from behind me. I recognize that voice.

"Can't say the same about you, Gavin," I say facing him. He's wearing dark sunglasses.

"Oh yeah, I think you're lieing," he says with a smirk.

Yes I am. "Yeah right, you wish," I reply.

"Do I?" Gavin asks. He's so annoying.

"I don't know, do you?" I reply sarcastically. What's wrong with me? My sarcasm is so low.

"I don't know," he answers.

"Wow! Shocking that you don't know something," I say. Alright, that was sort of good.

"Wow! Miss Sarcasm is trying to bring her A game," he says, keeping a smile.

"I always do," I smile back. Suddenly, time stops. Like on Sunday, we were close. Standing only inches apart. And like earlier, we are staring at each other. "What is happening?"

"I don't know, you?" Gavin asks.

"Same. Do we?" I ask.

"Like?" he asks.

"Like?" I repeat.

"Lets find out," he moves in closer. Soon enough, his lips meet mine and we are kissing. I'm kissing him and he's kissing me. His hands are in my hips and my arms around his neck. He pulls me a little closer. So, maybe like. Our kiss seems to go on for a while. We are interupted when purposely coughs to get our attention. We slowly pull away from each other and look to see who was getting our attention. It was some guy with a girl by his side. He was wearing a black tux, while the girl was wearing a light pink two piece outfit. It was pretty. The top was covered in silver, clear, and light pink beads. It was beautiful. She had light pink shades to match. Her strawberry blonde hair was down. She looks familiar.

"Hey, Isaiah. Who's this?" Gavin asks, fist bumping the guy, who apparently was Isaiah. Man, what if he notices me? He doesn't seem to.

"Hey, Gavin. And this is my secret girl," he says with a smile.

"Secret?" Gavin asks.

"Yeah, she doesn't want to reveal her identity just yet," Isaiah covers. I look at the girl again as she gives a slight smile. It's Kailee! Kailee and Isaiah are together?!? How? Well, I guess if they found out it was me, then they'd ask questions. "Who is she?" Isaiah points to me.

"Well, I guess you can call her my secret girl, right?" Gavin looks at me. Was he asking me to be his secret girl? I can't say anything, because Kailee might recognize my voice, so I just nod.

"Cool," Isaiah says. He looks happy with Kailee.

Kailee looks at me, studying. Oh, no! She won't find out, will she? We stare at each other. Then, I look away.

"Mikayla?" Kailee asks, then covers her mouth.

"What?" Isaiah asks.

I just nod. She puts her hands down. "Kailee?"

"What?" Gavin asks.

I give her a 'should I explain' look. And she nods. "Um... that's Kailee," I say pointing to her.

"How did you know?" Isaiah asks. "Wait, Mikayla?"

"Uh... no... yes," I confess.

"Wait, so are you two a thing?" Kailee asks Gavin and I.

"I don't know," I reply.

"Well, you guys were kissing like you have been together for a while," Kailee says.

"Are we?" Gavin asks.

"Um... I don't know, are we?" I reply.

"That doesn't help you know," Gavin replies. I shrug.

"So, you guys are?" I ask Isaiah and Kailee.

Isaiah takes Kailee's hand. "Yeah, we are," Isaiah replies.

"But, this stays between us. No one knows about this," Kailee says.

"Yeah," I reply.

"Perfect, we'll leave you guys to it," Isaiah says. Kailee winks and they both leave.

"So?" I ask him. Then it hit me. "I kissed my brother's best friend?"

"Wow, that sounds weird. I kissed my best friend's sister," Gavin says. We both laugh.

"So, what now?" I ask him. "Do we like each other?"

"Um... I..." he kisses me again. "I don't do words," he smiles. I chuckle.

"Yeah, I've noticed," I reply.

"What about you?" Gavin asks. Do I? Yeah, I do.

"Yep," I say and we both laugh. "But, no one can know about this."

"Yeah, what would Michael say if he found out I like his sister?" We both laugh.

"Which means, we need to split. Gabby's going to be looking for me," I say. "Bye."

"See ya," he says and we split ways.
