it's kind of sad this father's day
to not hear a word from him
he's off in some foreign land
unknown
please do enjoy your day with your own
if he's there
be thankful
because some do not
have a father there with them
every day
show your thanks
for his presence
his courage
love
and strength
it's kind of sad this father's day
that me and my brother
don't even know where he is
off in some foreign place
far far away
from his own children
fighting for us all
in the u.s miltary
a brave soldier
guns in the dust
yelling commanders
jumpsuits
sad thoughts and memories
thousands of boots parade
which pair is my fathers?
is he still out there?
or was he left in the sand
coughing
spluttering
a red crown of precious blood
water deprived
hyperventilating
but saying "i will go on"
with a weak smile, perhaps
my father will be lonely
on this solemn father's day
please take today to not only think of your own father
but to think of those fathers who couldn't be there
because they were to busy
protecting the world
and their family
and yours
