"What'd you say, Nat?" Clint asked, putting his phone away.
"I said happy mother's day," she repeated, comtinuing to walk down the street. The group must have looked quite bizarre- a young redheaded woman leading a large blonde man with a dog, a man in purple pajamas, and a blushing man who wouldn't look away from his phone.
"Is it really?" Clint searched his mind for the date. "Huh."
"May 8th. Celebrate ya moms."
"What?" Sam joined their conversation, somehow able to tear himself from the riveting conversation happening on his phone.
"It is the day of mothers!" Thor boomed.
"That's nice. Wait, what?"
"Mother's day! Pull your head out of Bucky's ass!" Clint groaned.
"I don't- Shut up. I gotta call my mom."
"I'm sure she'll appreciate it," Natasha said.
"Does she seem weird to you?" Clint whispered to Thor.
"Yes, extremely, at all times!" He laughed.
Meanwhile, back at the tower, Bruce and Bucky were still sitting in the lab. Bruce was working, Bucky was not.
"It's mother's day," Bucky said out of nowhere.
"Really? That's nice."
"Do any of us even have moms?" Bucky questioned. Bruce looked up. That was the saddest thing he had ever heard.
"Uh- No, I don't think so. No."
"Mine's dead, Steve's is dead, Tony's is dead, Thor and Loki's is dead- I don't know about Natasha, but, probably. And Clint, probably. And you just said no. Sam has a mom."
"Good for him."
"And none of us have kids. Except Peter, but he's not really Tony's kid."
"You're depressing me."
"Sorry."
Bruce shrugged. Bucky went back to his phone.
"Do you think that's why Tony's so sad?" Bucky asked after a minute.
"What do you mean?"
"Because his mom's dead."
"Didn't you kill her?"
Bucky paused. He set his phone down and stared at Bruce in shock.
"Did I?"
"Oh, fuck. I- Uh- No?" Bruce scrambled.
"I killed his parents? Really? I- Yeah, I did, didn't I? Did I?"
"Listen, don't-"
"I gotta go."
And with that, Bucky was gone. Bruce slammed his head on the table.
"FRIDAY, can you wake up Steve and Tony? I- Did something."
"I am not capable of-"
"Oh, for fucks..." Bruce walked over to the wall and hit the PA to the house. "Tony! Steve! Get up!"
After a minute, it buzzed back.
"I haven't slept in three days, Banner, what do you want?" Tony growled.
"I accidentally told Bucky he killed your parents and it's mother's day, by the way."
"Why are you the way you are?"
"I honestly don't know."
"He left?"
"Yeah."
"Why do you do these things?"
"I really honestly think I might have a serious problem."
"Yeah. Steve. He's mad."
"Fuck."
"Language."
"Rot in hell."
