Glancing at the boy beside me, his cheeks happily pushed up his eyes as he flashed me a breathtaking smile. Taking the seat to my right, he folded his arms on the table as his eyes peered up and curiously scanned over me. Giving him the cold shoulder, I stopped scribbling in my notebook and began nervously tapping my pen repeatedly on the ink-covered paper. Noticing the notion he sat upright and mumbled a quick, "Hey."
Staring at him like an idiot, we both scanned each other's expressions. Acknowledging him with a quick nod of my head, I averted my attention back to the teacher who began to write on the board with a blue dry-erase marker. I couldn't help but notice that my body felt abnormally tense and all I wanted to do was melt into a puddle and slither my way out of the class without being noticed. It's not like I wasn't used to everyone ignoring me anyway. If anything, I would probably be able to stand up from the back row of this class, walk to the front, and exit the classroom without anyone even taking a second glance.
Feeling his eyes staring into my skin, my head darted in his direction as I stared at him with a cold glare. Looking a bit surprised, he uncomfortably shuffled in his seat and laid his head in his hand while blankly staring at the board. Bored out of my mind, I couldn't help but loudly yawn.
All of a sudden, a faint scratching sound came from my desk and then was when I noticed that a notebook had slid across the table and landed before me. Glancing up at him, he sent me a sheepish smile and shrugged. Shaking my head back and forth, curiosity took ahold of me. Looking at the paper below, there were three simple words that were written in pencil. His chicken scratch was so sloppy that a light chuckle couldn't help but escape my lips.
Hi. I'm Peter.
Clearly he didn't get the memo.
