Jane's POV

When we finally reached the shelter of our tiny, dreary apartment, it was around three in the afternoon. Darcy and Ian placed all the food that could still be considered edible into the fridge, before hiding in their room. I quickly stripped down and dried off, wrapped myself in my thick woolly dressing gown, and tied my hair back. The heavy rain pounded against the roof, and hammered against the windows. Thor was in the bathroom, changing into his pajama bottoms. My fingers were numb, so I huddled up in an armchair, knees drawn up to my chest. Erik had been in his room the entire time we were out, reading up on a new theory about black holes. Besides the rain, the apartment was oddly quiet, and after a while, the heavy patter became almost rhythmic. I closed my eyes, and enjoyed the darkness, reflecting on the day's events. I saw Thor laying next to me, the four of us in the park, and that wonderful, wonderful moment in the rain. Just thinking about it made heat rush to my cheeks, and I laughed at myself, lucky enough to have found a man like him. I felt a presence beside me, and looked up. Thor stood next to me, and I raised to meet him.

"Hi," I said, which I instantly regretted. 'Hi' made me sound like a foolish teenage girl who's desperately obsessed with the star soccer player at her high school, despite the desperately obsessed part being right.

"Hi," He said back. Glistening droplets of water trickled slowly down his chest, and I tried my hardest not to stare, as each one left behind a trace of its journey. Instead, I studied his face, dazzling blue eyes and full pink lips, defined jaw and long hair, darkened with moisture. "I was wondering," He took one of my hands, and laced it with his own. The earlier numbness was now replaced with a warm tingling sensation. "If you would help me." I raised an eyebrow.

"What would you like me to help you with?" Interlocking my other hand with his, he smiled.

"I was rather hoping to find the woman that I...love." His gaze remained constant, unfazed by what he had just said. I, however, was not calm like him. I was outraged, and startled. After all he had said to me, about leaving Asgard to be with me, this now didn't make sense. I tried not to look disappointed.
"Oh, well... Do you have a picture or any information about her? I'm sure we can track her down." I tried to remove my hands from his, but they were so large that mine couldn't escape. Plastering a smile on my face, I glanced up at Thor, his eyes twinkling.
"She's around yay high," he gestured, bringing his right hand level to just below his chin, before holding mine again. "She's incredibly intelligent and funny and above all that she's kind."

"Ooookay." I said, trying not to let my confusion show. Thor smiled slightly, trying to stifle a laugh. I guessed I wasn't coming across as natural.

"She has the most beautiful dark eyes, that glitter, like sun gleaming on the towers and spires back on Asgard." His hands disconnected from mine, and snaked around to the back of my head. Slowly and gently, he pulled the hair band holding my ponytail in place, sliding it down until my hair cascaded over my shoulders. The whole time, his eyes never left mine. Two large hands placed themselves on my waist with a tenderness I could've never imagined. The touch was so light, I felt I was dreaming it. I shuffled nervously, and looked away from his stunning eyes. He took a small step forward, pulling me closer to him. Despite my mental protests, my hands moved to the back of his neck, his skin warm yet hair cold. His left hand cupped my face, and a musky smell engulfed me - his shower gel.

"You." He whispered, his face just inches from mine. His deep, gravely tone was enough to send entire armies of aliens running back in the direction they came. I blinked, and suddenly his lips were on mine. Despite the swiftness of the action, there was no pressure or harshness. His kiss was the only thing I needed. Everything else melted away. I internally cursed myself for being so naive and stupid. The rain pelting against the roof faded away, the only sound the pounding of my heart in my ears. His fingers crawled round, pressing the ticklish material of my dressing gown against my back. I laughed, and had to pull away, resting my forehead against the bridge of his nose.

"Jane. I love you." He brushed his finger against my cheek, and I felt my skin burn crimson. I was lost for words. After stuttering and slurring for a good few seconds, I tried to explain myself.

"I'm sorry, this is all so... new and strange to me. I've never really had this before, so I've got no clue what to say or do or anything. I was confused and angry when I thought you were serious about there being another woman. Oh my god, I'm awful at this!" I stepped backwards, and covered my eyes with my hands. Laughing awkwardly, I hunched over, trying to forget my spiel. I remember wishing for the ground to just swallow me up. I felt Thor stand in front of me, straighten me up, and envelope me in his arms. Standing on my tiptoes I buried my face in the warmth of his neck.

"If you dare to believe, this is relatively new for me too." I pulled away.

"No way." I was stunned. How on Earth was this smooth-talking literal God as inexperienced in love as me?

"I'm afraid so." He laughed.

"I'm so sorry for being stupid."

"You weren't." Thor reassured me.

"But I was though, I was so stupid and I didn't understand the joke and ruined the whole romantic thing and-" My ramblings were cut off with a scream. In one smooth action he had picked me up, and was carrying me bridal style across the room. I shrieked with laughter, and thrashed around slightly, begging to be set down, yet he carried me as if I weighed nothing.

When he reached the sofa, he turned around. I stopped screeching for a moment, and that's when he threw me up. When I say 'threw' I'm fairly certain of the over exaggeration, and I'm sure I only moved about an inch, yet it still felt like I'd been thrown several feet into the air. Thor caught me - of course he did - and threw us both backwards onto the sofa. We landed with a soft bounce, him on the sofa and me laying across his legs, his sturdy arms holding me partially upright. Our gazes locked for a mere moment, and we both collapsed with laughter, endless, gleeful laughter.

When we finally pulled ourselves together, he pulled me closer, so my side was resting against his chest. His arms wrapped around me, covering my entire body with a warm tingling feeling like nothing I'd ever felt before. In the dim light of the room, his damp hair had curled slightly, draping delicately across his shoulders. His blue eyes were dark and strangely hypnotic.

I kissed him. It was soft, like the last one, but this was different somehow. It was different, special, because in the space of a few seconds, I had come across the biggest discovery in my entire life. I'd never felt this way about anyone. Each touch was like a rush of electricity, sparks fizzing beneath my skin, sending endorphins to my brain. Thor shifted beneath me, sitting upright more. I drew back only for breath. He tucked a small section of my hair behind my ear, and pulled me closer again. I turned slightly, so I was now facing him, my feet tucked up against the warm material covering my upper legs. A finger beneath my chin pulled me back to Thor, kissing him over and over again. His hands painted patterns on my sides, his warm breath brushed against my skin each time we stopped to breathe. My fingers threaded themselves into his soft hair, trying to pull him as close as physically possible. It was like I needed him to survive, as if being near him gave me the strength to live. It was because I loved him. I felt like I could burst, excitement filling me to the brim. I needed to tell him before I was too scared to do so. Removing my fingers from his hair, and allowing them to slide down to rest across his shoulders, I sat back slightly, with the biggest possible grin on my face. I bit a part of my lip, anxiety already beginning to creep up on me.

"Look, I've never, ever said this before, and it's because it means a lot. It means something, and is special, and I've always been saving it for the right guy."

"What is it?" He whispered, laying one of his hands on top of mine.

"I love you." Those three little words. The ones I'd thought I'd never get the change to say, yet there I was, wishing I could scream them from the rooftops. "I know it could be considered stupid because we haven't actually known each other for that long but... I can't fight this." My thumb rubbed nervously up and down his collarbone, waiting for his reply. Instead of words, he kissed me again, then laughed softly.

"And I love you. I think I have since the first time we met Jane Foster."

"Do you mean when I ran you over?" I cringed, replaying the memory.

"The first time we actually met."

"That makes a lot more sense."

We sat in the comfortable silence, not saying anything because we didn't feel the need to. I curled up against Thor, my head resting against the crook of his neck. It was dark outside already, and no visible moon hung in the sky. Exhausted from the days many events, I closed my eyes, and couldn't muster the energy to open them again.

A harsh beeping penetrated my brain, screaming for me to get up. I felt Thor move beneath me, startled the same as I. Rubbing my eyes, I groggily sat up. The dim light was on, harsh to my sleep accustomed eyes, yet it was still dark outside. A door clicked open, and out came Erik, looking as tired I felt. He picked up the phone, and answered it, making no attempt to disguise his annoyance. I stood up, and felt Thor stand behind me. With his arms wrapped around my waist, he pulled me close, his chest against my back.

"Jane, it's uh, it's for you." Erik held out the phone, and I stepped to take it.

"Hello?"

"Is this Miss Foster?" A male voice at the end of the line asked.

"Uh, yeah it is. Who am I speaking to?"

"I'm Agent Coulson, from S.H.I.E.L.D."

"Ah, hi. What can I help you with?"

"It's come to our attention how much we could benefit from having a talented scientist such as yourself and your team here with us in New York. We were rather hoping you'd be willing to come back and join the team." I was shocked.

"Oh, uh, okay. Sorry, it's really early in the morning here so I'm not entirely with it."

"Thats fine. There's no need to worry about accommodation, and your flights are already taken care of. In an hour or so a couple of agents will drop by, to help you pack up. They'll also drive you to the airport, and load your things onto a private jet."

"A private jet! Holy shit!" At this, both Erik and Thor looked startled, and even Darcy had emerged from her room. "I'm sorry, excuse my language."

"It's fine." He laughed. "We'll be seeing you shortly. There's no rush, the plane leaves whenever you're ready."

"Okay, well thank you Sir."

"No problem." He hung up.

"What was all that?" Erik mumbled.

"We're going back to New York!" I screeched. Darcy literally jumped with joy, and Erik smiled. I turned to Thor, who also grinned at me. "They said everything's taken care of, where we're gonna stay and everything. Someone's coming round in a few hours to help us pack up."

"Sounds amazing. I'm fed up with British weather." Darcy said, before going back into her room, presumably to tell Ian.

"It'll be nice to get back into work." Erik grinned, before heading into his room.

"Hopefully there's a little more space when we move back. It's really cramped here."

"Cramped, but homely." Thor said, wrapping his arms around me once again.
