ORDINARY; the very mention of the word antagonised her without doubt if she was the following noun. To be ordinary and to be so undistinguished seemed too much of a status with a motive to diminish her rather than an actual statement on a file. It usually left her seething in a mental pool of rage, grinding her jaw as the word grinded her nerves. But the irony of it all was that she was infact a hollow body missing a vital purpose or, of course less pretentiously put; ordinary.
'Ordinary' Sawyer Emerson had always felt herself compensating for the void she never felt she filled, volunteering galore and globally to create a difference. Even despite meeting thousands of new faces on her journeys, she'd still fall into bed each night with a painful ache of unimportance. Her kindness and good heart rendered her just a face in a crowd for use or gain and she knew it.
But all it took was one attempted murder, one stray hound and one broken man to flip her entire introverted existence and toss it onto its head.
Being ordinary was her curse, but it was his only yearning.
