A Thug's True Love: Chapter 28
~Trey P.O.V.~
"Man, I wanted to come out when all a y'all left" I said as we all sat around the little campfire we had on the beach. It was cool cause the sun we touching the water on the horizon and the waves would roll in so slowly then roll back out. It was warm but not warm enough to run around in just shorts.
"Us adults need our time away from y'all kids. Especially you, Trey" Dad laughed as he held onto Mom
"Lexis, don"t be hatin on the boy" Uncle Javier said. Aunt Riley took Honey and Lauren to one of the lil shops around the corner from the crib cause they wanted to shop
"I'm glad they be out here, thanks J" Uncle Varo said
"No prob, I thought y'all was missin em. Plus they was getting on my nerves"
"Man ain't none of us getting on yo nerves. That was your fault" I spat back at him
"Yeah alright" He scoffed
"So what's this video of Mom I hear about?" DeShawn asked
"Ah shit, man you'll see later on, this shit was poppin!" Uncle Varo laughed
"Don't you dare!" Mom yelled back at him
"I ont got the video! One of us does though, but I ain't tellin who!" He fell back onto the sand laughing like a hyena
"Lexis!-"
"Don't be callin me like I can make him hand it over, shit this is your lil situation. Ima go to bed though, I'm hella tired from last night" Dad got up, gave Mom a kiss then dapped us all before goin inside the house
"And then there were 14 of us" J laughed
"I'm pullin an all nighter" DeShawn said proudly
"I am too" I said
"Well then let's see who stays up the longest. Winner doesn't have to carry their luggage back to the airport. Loser has to carry the winners shit, done?" All the girls got up and left, leaving just us guys. We all put our hands in the middle and that's when the competition started.
~Arley P.O.V.~
~In The Morning~
Alvaro lost.
He's been bitching the entire morning about it and it's the funniest shit ever. He got up at like 7 goin to everyone's room demandin a rematch. It's about quarter to nine and he still goin at it.
Lexis came down with a sleepy headed Nelle right behind him
"Mornin you two" I smiled
"What the hell got in Alvaro now?" Nelle asked annoyed
"Alvaro lost and he won't quit bitchin" I laughed
"Who won?" Lexis asked
"T-Stacks" I laughed
"No way. That lil punk won? How late was y'all up?" Lexis laughed with me as he grabbed a coke from the fridge
"Trey finally went to bed at about 6" That kid can really stay up. I fell asleep right before Trey did and I passed out at about 5:30. He really can stay up, like damn
"I'm not even surprised Trey won" Nelle yawned. Isabella came downstairs and sat right in my lap. I know for a fact I'm her favorite Uncle.
"Morning Sunshine" I laughed as I gave her a hug
"Morning you guys" She yawned. Her blonde hair was everywhere where it shouldn't be
"I like the new hairstyle, you should it to my hair" Lexis laughed
"get a weave and we'll talk" She smacked her lips
"Damn! So much sass just like her mother, I know that apple didn't fall far from the tree" He grabbed a bagel and walked out back to where Javier and Marcus were.
"So what are the plans today?" I asked
"I honestly don't know. I kinda just wanna lay low since the kids are here. Just spend some time with em" Nelle yawned again
"I'm with ya on that one, you're more tired than me, and I'm on like no sleep" I laughed. Isabella hopped off my lap and began digging through the fridge
"It was a later night than you think with Lexis n I, where my other boys at? I saw Trey passed out on the couch upstairs" She laughed a little
"Probably out with Bailey and J. They went to the store to get more food" You know, when I sit back and think about it, this was a huge ass family. For all of us to be out here in Atlantic is just crazy to think about. 18 people be sharing a 6 bedroom vacation house, I never thought the whole gang would ever leave Oaktown like we did. I wish Nicole was here to see all this.
"Alright, I'm takin a shower" She got off the counter and dragged her feet up the stairs
"And where's your sister?" I asked Isabella who stuffed a cupcake in her mouth
"She's with Dad like always" She said with a mouthful of purple frosting
"Wow, never leaves his side for nun huh?" She shook her head no "That's actually really funny, you was like that too. Ima go get dressed" She nodded her head and walked out back as well.
I jogged up the stairs and grabbed my phone off the nightstand
*Phone Convo*
Nicole: Hey Dad!
Me: Hey sweetie, how are you?
Nicole: I'm good, how are you? How is your trip going?
Me: That's good to hear, and it was a lot of fun. I can't wait to go to Detroit to get you and go home
Nicole: Dad? about that, I'm not leaving Detroit. I'm really happy here and-
Me: You're coming home tomorrow with me when I come to get you. I miss you like crazy and the deal was you can stay with AJ while I was on the trip. Well the trip is almost over and your ass is coming home with me when I come out there.
Nicole: I'm not going home with you. I am home, with AJ.
Me: Oh my god Nicole. By law you are in MY custody. Where ever I say you are going, is where your ass going to be. I'm not arguing with you, but that's what I said, and I get the final say in any decision that regards you
Nicole: Well then I'm runnin away with AJ. So good luck finding me
*End Of Phone Convo*
She hung up on me.
I tried calling back but no answer. I tried again. No answer. I tried again. She turned off her phone.
This girl need an attitude adjustment. I ain't going to freak out about it.
She's a dumbass, she doesn't realize I can just track her phone.
~Later That Evening~
"Alright, Alright, if none us had kids and we was just in a relationship, no marriage or engagement, would you be loyal?" DeShawn asked. We was sittin around the table asking random questions
"In all realness, I would not be with your mother. I would have probably cheated with so many hoes" Lexis laughed
"What about you Uncle Varo?" Isabella asked
"Is that even a question? Y'all know when I give chicks that look they be naked in my bed before I even had the chance to blink" He popped his collar "Javier, you might had cheated with like one other girl, you're too sensitive n shit" Alvaro laughed
"I stay true to my commitments, what else can I say?" He threw his hands up
"What about you Uncle Arls?" Trey asked
"Trey, you definitely don't gotta ask. He'd probably have at least 5 girls throwin the pregnancy card at him every other week" Lexis laughed. I joined and laughed with him
"That's actually true" I said in between my laughs
"What about you girls?" Marcus asked
"I wouldn't-" Nelle said but was cut off by Riley
"That's such bullshit. Malcolm for example. You would have climbed him like a tree if you didn't have kids and wasn't engaged" She laughed right before taking a sip of her sprite
"Oh shut up, you ont got a clean record yourself!" She laughed back
"wel-"
"Bailey, just don't say one word if you know what's good for you" Alvaro whispered loudly in her ear
"What about Honey and Lauren?" DeShawn asked
"I have my Trey, so I'm good" Honey said as she gave him a kiss on the cheek
"I wouldn't have a reason to cheat on DeShawn" Lauren smiled. The kids with their girlfriends were so cute. It's crazy to see em with their lil girlfriends, really shows how much they've grown.
"A final toast to a night with almost the entire family out havin fun outside of Oakland" Nelle said as she held up her drink. We all brought up ours and clanked glasses with each other
~Lexis P.O.V.~
~The Next Day~ (Sunday)
Talk about a trip. I was tired as fuck and just wanted to be home in my bed passed out asleep with my Ma right next to me.
It was about 7 in the morning and everyone was up. All our luggage was already by the door. We were just waiting for everybody to get dressed. And by everybody I mean Alvaro.
"Is he done yet?" Honey asked as she sat on a few suitcases
"Nope. Imagine how he was in P.E. His ass took forever to get out of the locker room" I laughed
"He's worse than a girl" D1 said as he jumped onto my back
"Oh you ont gotta tell me, I know" I laughed
"The kids are all riding with J except for Javier's girls. They're riding in our car" Nelle said as she started to take luggage out to the car.
"Who's all goin in our car anyways?" I asked
"You, Me, Riley, Isabella, Vanessa, and Arls"
"Good shit. Alright lil man you needa get down I needa help yo Aunt Nelle with the bags" He sighed but slid down off me.
~Riley P.O.V.~
~20 Minutes Later~
We were finally on the road the airport. I swear to God, we would have left earlier if Alvaro wasn't tryin to look so "good for the flight attendants".
We were now in the car and both girls were passed out asleep in the back. I planned on tellin just Nelle the news Javier and I have but since it was just Arls n Lexis in the car with us, I don't think it will even matter
"So I have some news, but you can't tell Javier I told y'all this" I said kinda hoarsely
"Oh shit, y'all expectin again?" Arley asked as he looked over my way
"No, we're done with kids, but this is serious" I sighed
"Alright we listenin, y'all getting a divorce or something?" Alexis asked
"No. Javier was just diagnosed with Cancer." I felt my eyes start to well up but I didn't let any tears break free. We were just told this about 3 months ago. I felt the car halt to an abrupt stop
"Holy Fuck" Lexis, said as he whipped his head around to look my way. All 6 eyes were on me. "When was he diagnosed?"
"3 months ago. We've been very distant because he don't know for sure how much longer he has, so we've been spending as much time with just the 4 of us for now."
"Why didn't he tell us?" Arley asked
"Cause he didn't want y'all to worry. He said y'all worry enough and he didn't want to be another reason"
"Did he plan on tellin us?" Nelle asked
"Yeah, but on his time. So when he tells you; act like you didn't know. Don't start treating him differently but that's why. He wanted to renew our vows within this month too" I smiled to myself. The thought of renewing my vows with the man I am helplessly in love with just fills me with happiness. The girls already knew this and they've been even closer with him. Vanessa doesn't understand what Cancer is, all she understands is, Daddy is really sick.
The mood in the car was gloomy. I didn't want to ruin the vacation but it was killing me slowly not telling the family the situation. Here I am, I know my husband is dying and the rest of the family is laughing having a great time with him, but they don't know what's really going on.
~Lauren P.O.V.~
I was sitting on DeShawn's lap in the car cause there wasn't enough room but I didn't mind.
"I had so much fun out here!" I yelled with excitement. It was so cool to meet all of DeShawn's family that I hadn't met. Especially his Uncle Varo. I know he's like way older but he was a cutie too
"I'm hella glad to hear that, it was chill to have y'all out here" Shawny said with a smile
"It was crazy as fuck getting you kids out here, but it was well worth it" J laughed
"I miss the PlayStation though. We should have brought it" Trey yawned as he rested his head on Honey's shoulder
"We didn't need that PlayStation, damn" Honey laughed as she pushed him off of her
"Yeah Yeah Yeah, is Ty passed out up there?" Trey laughed
"Yeah, he's tired, he was in Alvaro and Marcus's room last night." J laughed again
'What's so wrong with that?" I asked
"Them too can't be together, they get into all kinds of shit. Anyways, I want all of y'all to stay right next to me." He said specifically eyeing the twins through his rear view mirror
"Hey it wasn't our fault!" They said in unison. I couldn't hold in the small chuckle that escaped my mouth
"Yes it was, stay by me, or I'm tyin y'all to my legs" The car came to a stop and we all shuffled out like clowns in a clown car. "Alright, Ima hand y'all the luggage and y'all will take it inside to where ever Lexis is" Ty woke up and peeled himself out of the front seat rubbing his tired eyes
"well you can hand my luggage to Uncle Varo" Trey scoffed as he walked inside the airport hand in hand with Honey
"That's right, alright well there's the rest of it" He slammed the trunk and grabbed 2 bags then walked inside.
~Lexis P.O.V.~
The Javier news really hit me hard. I loved Javier as a brother but we all gotta be strong for him. We can't cry and be sympathetic.
When we pulled up we all changed our expressions and acted like nothing happened.
"I got the girls, if you get the bags" Riley said as she hopped out of the back seat, and carefully pulled out Vanessa.
The last car to pull up was Alvaro's car. He flew out of the car and ran over and tackled Marcus to the ground. I dropped the luggage and Arls and I ran over to pull the two apart
"What the fuck happened now?!" I yelled into Alvaro's ear
"Man this bitch ass broad decided to change the song when my beast song was on. Y'all know how I feel about that shit!" He yelled as he tried to squirm out of my arms
"You played the song 16 times in a row, I think it was time to change the song!" Marcus yelled back. So here we are in a completely different state. In an airport parking lot holding down two grown ass men because one of them touched a button to change a song.
"Arls, you keep an eye on Marcus and keep him away from Alvaro. I'll keep Alvaro away from Marcus" I sighed. It's like watching 2 more children.
"Lexis if you just let me beat the shit out of Marcus I promise, I won't beat his ass for the rest of the hour" He pleaded as I dragged his ass back over to my car
"No. Y'all be causin a scene and I ont like it. Save that shit for Oakland so we can all bet on who wins" I laughed
He mumbled something else under his breath but I just didn't care to listen to him.
~Arley P.O.V.~
I had all my luggage with Lexis n them. I was waiting for my personal flight to Detroit.
It was a long ass wait but time passed by quickly when we saw the twins reenacting the fight that went on between Varo n Marcus outside the airport.
"Alright, I'll see y'all when I get back from Detroit" I dapped everyone and gave the girls a hug before walking down the tunnel thing to board the plane.
~Nicole P.O.V.~
~A Few Hours Later~
"He's on his way. He just texted me." I whined to AJ. We were sitting at his trap and he has been a lot more on edge since joining the gang war between his gang and some new gang that showed up out of the blue
"I know you don't wanna go but he is your Dad and I can't keep you out here like I wish I could" He said not even taking his eyes off the papers he had on his desk
"If you really wanted me to stay you would be talkin to my Dad about it" I said
"I'm not going to get into a fight with your Dad. You are his daughter, so what he says is what has to happen" He snapped at me
"Don't be having such an attitude"
"Well then quit bitchin. We both agreed to this, so this shouldn't be a surprise that he texted you sayin he on the way. Damn"
"I thought you wanted me out here?"
"Yes I did, and look where you are. Part of that deal was he would take you back home to where it's actually safe, at the end of his trip. Well his trip is over" He really needs to knock off the damn attitude. I don't like it at all. This is a side of AJ I've never seen.
"What ever" I said as I stood up out of the chair that was in front of his desk
"Oh so now you're upset because I'm not fighting for you to stay?" He asked. I just didn't answer. "Now we're quiet huh? well alright, I'm done." He threw down the stack of papers and stormed out of the room.
I didn't want him to leave, but I didn't want him to have such attitude with me either. what does he mean by "I'm Done?" was he breaking up with me?
I felt the tears come to my eyes and I just ran out the back door to his trap. When I got to the sidewalk I just sat on the curb with my face buried in my knees and just cried.
I sat like that for about 10 minutes till I heard the familiar voice call my name
"Nicole?" He said as he took a seat next to me. I just didn't even bother picking up my head
"What Dad?" I sighed
"It's time to go home, do you wanna say good bye to AJ before we leave? You probably won't be seeing him for about 2 months-"
"No Dad. I just wanna go" I said as he pulled me up. We walked down the sidewalk in silence at first. "How are you feeling about Mom?" I finally asked breaking the sheer silence
"I'm still extremely sad about her passing but she's in a much better place watching over us. Id give anything to trade spots with here right now" He said
"Why?" I asked
"Just cause. Your Mom doesn't have any worries, no stress, no bullshit. Just floats around doin what ever she wants without having to worry about who it affects" I had a feeling he was referring to me
"Do I hold you back from things?" I asked
"Naturally, yes. But that's besides the point. I had 6 nights to be worry free and do whatever while I was on my vacation. Now it's back to making sure you're alright and doin what you need to do" He said calmly
"If you're lonely and fear I wouldn't like you to settle down, I personally don't care, just as long as you're happy" I said looking down at the white tips of my chucks as I walked
"Thanks for your approval, but I don't wanna find anyone else. I'm done with tryin a relationship, I just wanna be single till I finally end up dyin" He laughed a lil
"Awh Dad! You need to find someone" I jokingly pushed him
"Nah, I'm done. I've had my fair share of women and let me tell you, I'm done" He pulled me in for a side hug as we continued to walk down the long side walk that was once our old neighborhood
"You say that now, but once you find someone, you'll be head over heels for em"
"I'm seriously done. I'll go find a hoe or something but I'm done with tryin to wife someone up. You think I'm playin but you'll see"
