Chapter 3 - Lunch

The meeting at ten goes well, Lydia furiously takes notes as she sits right next to Kyle. He is thankful she does because he would not be able to focus on anything except her if she was sitting anywhere across the table. Beatrice can't help noticing how attractive Lydia is sparking a little jealously within her. She was hoping the new Client Manger would be an older married lady with kids so Kyle would not be attracted to her.
She wants to say something to Kyle she knows him since the first day they both started with the company as interns. She immediately knew she was attracted to Kyle and although the feeling was reciprocated by him as well, much to her dismay he did not want anything more than a physical relationship with her. Frustrated with Lydia she walks over to Ravi's office to complain.
B: Seriously why does he have to take her out for lunch? Why can't she just wait for Francois to come back?
R: (scoffs) Jealous?
B: Fuck off
R: Woah! Someone's touchy about this
B: I am not
R: Really? Fine for someone who is (inverted commas gesture) OVER Kyle you sure seem jealous right now
B: No! I am not I just don't want him to get hurt
R: Awe......(holds hand to his heart) so sweet
B: Fuck off Ravi! She looks like a bitch
Violet enters Ravi's office only to hear the latter portion of that conversation. She does not appreciate Bea's tone.
V: Hey! Hey hey calm down. I spent a good portion of the morning with her, she seems nice
B: Nice? Like a hooker nice?
V: Geez! Calm down Bea
B: Maybe you just like her
V: (rolls eye) She is not my type
R: (smirks) She could be anybody's type
Ravi knows his words will further anger Bea, when he sees her clenching her jaws he can't help the chuckle that escapes his lips before he walks away, making his way to get to his next meeting.
V: Ha!
B: I think she has an agenda
V: She just started what could be her agenda? They just work together you know
B: Whatever! You know these dumb boys think with thier dicks but we need to keep an eye on the slut
V: (rolls eyes) Whatever you say Bea
Beatrice has not finished her rant yet she goes into Kyle's office next to get a reaction from him. She puts on her sweetest smile then walks into Kyle's office.
B: Hey Kyle
K: What's up?
B: Can we talk?
K: Sure
Bea closes the door behind her so she can have some privacy. Just then Kyle gets a text on his personal phone, he quickly checks, it's a message from Ravi.
R: Kyle Bea is crazy jealous of Lydia, she was bitching her out to V and me. I just thought you should know
Kyle smiles then turns towards Beatrice
K: Hang on Bea, I just need to reply to this msg
B: Sure
K: Thanks man! Really appreciate the heads up
R: Got your back bro (fist pump symbol)
Then Kyle averts his attention to Beatrice who looks curiously at his phone. She really wishes there is a way she could read all his messages, then she snaps back looking at Kyle intensely.
K: Is there something you needed?
B: Just wanted to know what you think of the new Client Manager
K: Not a lot (lie he couldn't stop thinking about her since they first met) just that today is her first day
B: So you have an opinion? Inclination as to what she is like?
K: Well I am taking her to lunch because Francois isn't here
B: Why can't she just wait?
K: (stern) Is there a problem Beatrice?
B: Ofcourse not! I just think you should be careful
K: Oh and what do you think I should be careful of?
B: You should be careful her. She might want your job
K: (scoffs) Beatrice I've heard enough, now can I get back to work?
B: You should know I'll be watching closely
K: (raised eyebrow) Okay
As previously decided Kyle walks over to Lydia's office ready to take her out for lunch. She is still a bit nervous about being alone with him again hoping her obvious fluster when he is around doesn't show. He knocks on her door before he opens it but doesn't see her sitting on her seat. Instead she is on the floor on her hands and knees trying to plug something into the socket.
L: Come on in Kyle?
K: What are you doing?
She crawls out so he can finally see her. Fuck she looks so sexy in that position Kyle's mind can't help but imagine her in the same position with him alone in a non-work setting. Oh the things he would do to her.
L: Trying to get this plugged in
K: Just call the IT help desk
L: That would take too long, I can do it myself
K: (snaps out of his daze) Let me help
L: (still looking up at him from the carpeted floor) You sure?
K: (clears throat) Yeah
Lydia moves to a standing position as Kyle gets under her desk using his iPhone to find the socket that needs to be plugged in. The minute he plugs it in he moves back then turns his head only to be met with the hem of Lydia's skirt. He just looks up at her in awe.
She is blushing bright red as she watches Kyle centimeters away from her starring at her. She looks at his handsome face which makes her want to kneel down and kiss those irrestiable pink lips. She moves backwards to break the intense stare then Kyle gets up.
K: You ready?
L: Yeah ready thanks for...Eer...helping me out
K: (charming smile) Anytime
Kyle opens Lydia's office door to gesture that she walk out first, she wears a side smile wondering if he's just trying to impress her or he is really a gentleman. It is a short walk over to the restaurant. Once they are settled Lydia speaks.
L: This is a really nice place
K: Yeah Francois loves to come here
L: So what is he like to work for
K: (arched eyebrow) Truth?
L: (giggles) Yes truth
K: A nightmare but I can't complain because he's been really good to me
L: So it's a style thing?
K: Yes one day he could be taking you with him to meet a major client the next he could ask you to pickup his laundry
L: (rolls eyes) Oh brother
The rest of lunch they talk about work, when they graduated from college and generally get to know each other. Every once in a while when Lydia flicks her hair or pushes it behind her ears., Kyle can't help starring at it wishing it was him touching her, pushing her hair back. She looks so beautiful, so full or life. Her effervescent personality shines through making her glow, which completely captures him.
L: Kyle I don't want any desert do you?
Kyle barely notices the waiter standing right next to him because he is so focused on Lydia. Without hearing the waiter out he just says.
K: (gazing at her) Huh? Yeah whatever she wants
L: (giggles) You are so spacey. I hope you don't space out in front of our clients
K: (defensive) No I do not
L: Do you want dessert?
K: No, but you should have some
L: No I need to fit into my bikini next weekend, I can't
Lydia blushes as she sees Kyle's eyes widen at what she just said. He can't help but picture her in a sexy tiny bikini and she senses that too. Just then the waiter brings the check which Kyle envelopes his Amex business card into.
L: Thanks for lunch
K: Ofcourse it's the least I can do. Sorry Francois wasn't here to take you
L: (smirks) Somehow I doubt it would be as much fun
Lydia scolds herself mentally for saying that, for flirting with Kyle. What was she thinking? Why is she so drawn to him? She is behaving like a little teenager girl crushing on her brother's friend, that she knows she can not date.
K: (wide smile) So you had fun with me?
L: (furiously blushing) Eerrrr.....yeah I guess
Kyle flirts some more, then he asks to see her phone pretending to be interested in the new iPhone model that she has and how he's been thinking of buying it but is still waiting for his contract to be over. Lydia gives him a brief tour then he says.
K: Hey maybe I should just give you my personal number
L: (surprised) Eerr....okay
K: (looking at her intensely) Call me if you need anything, anything at all
L:(blushing) I will
Kyle smirks knowing he has put the ball in her court. It is now up to her to text or call him, showing him she is interested. His slick move has not escaped Lydia who wonders, for him to be this smooth he is either really good at his job, which she does not have a tough time believing or he is a player. That latter prospect both frightens and excites her simultaneously.
