When I get out of bed, I sit on the floor for about twenty minutes and pout. I'm so tired. I get so worn out watching these crazy little monsters all the time that I sometimes feel like I'm going crazy. I have about twenty minutes before little Hailey gets here. Hailey is a sweet little 5-year-old with long red hair and green eyes. I have to admit that she's a lot better than most of the kids that I watch, but she's really clingy and spends the whole time attached to my hip and asking questions non-stop. Then I have Tristin coming in about thirty minutes. I swear Tristin has a crush on Hailey. So cute!
I finally pick myself up off of the floor and drag my feet all the way over to Luna's room. I poke my head inside and I see her lying on the foot of her bed, curled up in a ball. "Luna... Luna!" I slowly walk in her room and then I get right in her ear this time. "LUNA!"
She jumps up and screams, then she notices me standing above her, so she lays back down and covers her head up. "Go away. I had a late night..."
Oh, I heard. I uncover her head and snatch the blanket off of her. "So... who was it?"
She sits up and smiles. "Remember that weird kid that always chewed on everything when we watched him? That kid was weird. Who does that?"
I slap my forehead and shake my head. "Oh... I don't know. How about a 1-year-old?" I swear, I hope she never has kids of her own.
She jumps up and throws a long shirt on. "Whatever, the kid was still weird. I was with the weird kid's dad."
I give her a dirty look. "That guy, who's name is Sean, is married."
Luna laughs while throwing on a pair of jeans. "Nope! They got divorced, thank you very much."
Oh well, that makes it much better. I pick up an old sock sitting next to her bed and throw it in her face. "Tristin and Hailey will be here soon, so be ready to help me this time."
Luna throws the sock on the floor and covers her face. "Oh, no... Not that girl. I swear she asks me questions about things that I have never even heard of. What does she think I'm smart or something?"
Well, she would be the first to think so. I stand up and walk out of her room. "Just get ready." I run down the hall and into the bathroom to start my shower water. I jump in and close my eyes. It just feels so good. Then I start thinking about Kale. Damn it! I wanted to kiss him so bad. Why must he have this effect on me? I shove my head out of the shower curtain when I hear some noise in the bathroom. "Luna... wait your turn."
Luna is standing there, half naked. "What? Don't look at me like that, we don't have much time." She strips off all of her clothing as I grab a towel and hop out. She smiles at me. "I knew it would make you hurry." Then she jumps in the shower.
That damn hooker. I rush down the hall and get dressed. I get done just in time to hear the doorbell ring. I run downstairs and trip over the last step. I grab my ankle for a minute and then quickly open the door.
Kale is bent over, giving Tristin a hug. He stands up and rubs his hard stomach. "Sorry, we're early. We got hungry and stopped for breakfast and didn't realize that we left so early." He smiles at me and walks inside. "Now, don't laugh, but... I brought you guys' donuts." He sets the box on the table and then looks me in the eye. "Don't judge me."
I try not to laugh as he shoves a donut in his mouth. "So, Mr. Officer, you brought me donuts." I watch him as he slowly licks the frosting off of his lips.
I look away when I hear Luna right behind me. "Kalise, stop staring at Kale's lips!"
Kale stops eating his donut and looks over at me. "Do you want a taste?" Then he points down at the box. "I brought plenty." I watch him as he looks down at my lips.
I turn my head away and slap my forehead. "I... um... not hungry." Then I look over and see that Kale is still standing there, looking at me.
He reaches down and grabs a donut out of the box and rips a piece off. Then he walks over and holds it in front of me. "Open up."
I shake my head. "No... no, thanks."
I try to push his hand away, but he laughs and puts in on my lips. "Open up. I promise that it tastes good." I open my mouth and he slowly shoves the donut in my mouth. Then he looks at my lips and smiles. "You have a little frosting on your lips." Before I can even think, he reaches over and wipes his finger over my bottom lip and then sucks the frosting off of his finger. "Well, I better get going."
Faint... I'm going to faint. I stand there like an idiot as Kale looks at me and walks to the door. "Maybe I'll see you later."
Kale bends down to give Tristin a hug and walks outside. "I'll be back later to pick Tristin up, unless you want to keep him forever." He smiles and waves as he gets in the car.
Luna hits my arm. "You're so embarrassing." Then she runs upstairs.
Idiot! Idiot! I look down when Tristin pokes my arm. "Did you miss me, Kalise?" He smiles up at me with chocolate all over his little face.
I laugh and grab a paper towel. No! "Yes, of course I did, buddy." I clean his face off and then give him a hug. "Looks like we'll have Hailey with us today." I smile as I pull away from him.
His whole face turns red. "Hailey is coming over?" He grabs a chair and scoots it over to the sink and turns on the water. Then he grabs a paper towel and starts cleaning his hands and face.
I knew that booger likes Hailey. I get ready to walk to the door when I hear the doorbell ring again, but Tristin jumps off of the chair and runs to the door before me. I follow behind him as he opens the door.
Adele and Hailey are standing outside. Adele walks in, looking really tired as Hailey follows behind her, just talking non-stop. Poor lady. Adele looks at me with a forced smile on her face. "Thank you so much for taking Hailey again. I didn't know who else to call at last minute." Then she looks away and slowly turns around.
I follow her outside and shut the door behind us. "Is everything okay, Adele? You seem really upset."
Adele stops walking and looks back at me. "I'm just really tired. My work has been calling me in at all hours of the night and mornings and I can't seem to find anyone that wants to watch Hailey more than once. She even makes me tired."
I can't help but to feel sorry for Adele. She's such a sweet lady and Hailey can be a bit to take in for most people. I've learned to block most of it out. " I can watch her if you ever need anyone. She's not a problem."
Adele gives me a tired smile. "Thanks so much, Kalise." Then she turns around and walks away.
When I walked inside, Luna and Hailey were sitting on the couch, arguing. Luna gets in Hailey's face. "No! That's not true."
Hailey laughs and puts her fingers in her ears. "Is too."
Somebody please save me. I give Luna a look and then pinch her arm. "Stop acting like a 5 year old. I need some help here."
Luna crosses her arms and leans back on the couch. "Fine..."
We all look over when we hear Tristin's voice come from beside us. "Hailey... I brought you a treat." He walks over to Hailey holding a donut. "I took a bite first, but I got it for you."
Hailey puts out her bottom lip and grabs the donut. "Why did you take a bite?"
Tristin turns his head and looks at his feet. "I was hungry."
Hailey looks at the donut. "Why didn't you get your own donut?"
I'm already going crazy. I jump up and grab both of them by the hand. "Come on guys, let's go to the water park. Does that sound fun?"
Hailey looks at me as she gives the donut back to Tristin. "I don't have a swimming suit. How can I swim without a swimming suit?"
I grab my purse in frustration and open the front door. "I will buy you a swimming suit."
Everyone follows behind me as I shut and lock the door. Just when I think the questions might stop, I hear Haileys voice: "Where are you going to buy me a swimming suit and how do you know it will fit?"
Really? I take a deep breath and smile. "There's a store down the street on the way to the water park. Since we are so close, we are all going to take a little walk."
Luna throws her arms up and whines. "I hate walking!"
Then Tristin opens his evil little mouth. "Me too."
I turn around and try to keep my cool. "It's not that far."
Everyone finally stays quiet all the way to the store and even to the water park. It's just a little water park for kids, and the place doesn't get very busy, so it should be a nice easy day. I hope.
I find us an empty spot and set down all of our towels and snacks. "Alright kids, stay close by where we can see you. If you can't see me or Luna, then we can't see you."
They both look at me and shake their little heads in excitement. Tristin reaches for Hailey's hand and they take off running to the kiddy pool while slapping each others hands.
I lay there for a couple of hours while Luna takes a nap and works on her tan. I almost have to get up a few times when it looks like Hailey is trying to drown Tristin, but everything is fine. It looks like Tristin enjoys it.
When I'm finally feeling calm and relaxed, Luna wakes up and sits up next to me. "Having fun?"
I give her a dirty look. "I was until you decided to wake up."
Luna rolls over on her stomach and laid back down. "I know you want to sleep with Kale. He's super hot and he wants you."
I lay back and close my eyes. "I already told you, I'm staying a virgin. Yes, Kale is super hot, and yes, I have thought about what it would be like to have him all over me, but I'm not giving in."
Luna laughs and reaches over to grab my thigh. "Pretend that I'm Kale. Doesn't that turn you on? Oh Kale, I want you!"
I slap her hand away and look up when I hear someone clear their throat.
Somebody shoot me now.
Kale and Brendon are standing above us. I jump up real fast and slap Luna.
Luna looks up and then puts her head back down. "Oh god.... did I die and go to hell?"
Brendon looks down at Luna and smiles. "If I go to hell then hell is going to be an exciting place to be. You better hope you end up there."
I look up at Kale embarrassed. "How long have you two been there?"
Kale looks down at me and smiles. "Long enough to hear someone moaning my name." He looks over at Luna and smiles. "Hi, Luna; having fun?"
Luna gives Brendon a dirty look and then smiles at Kale. "Do you ever leave this guy behind?"
Before Kale can answer her, Brendon bends down and picks Luna up out of her chair and sets her down on a table. Luna goes to slap Brendon but he grabs her hand and then bends in to kiss her. Next thing you know, Luna and Brendon are all over each other. Good thing the park is empty.
Kale sits down next to me and points over to the kids. "Are the kids being good?"
As good as little devils can be. I smile at Kale and look over at the kids screaming at each other. "Oh yeah... they've been great."
Kale scoots closer to me and grabs my hand. "Let me take you out to dinner... just the two of us."
I look down at my hand as Kale starts rubbing his fingers over mine. "Um... I don't know."
Kale gets so close to me that his lips are almost touching mine. He smiles and looks down at my lips. "I promise you that you will have a good time. I'm a really good date, and I'll make sure that you get the best dessert."
I can't help but to watch his lips so close to mine. Maybe I should fall forward. I clear my throat and back away from him. "I like dessert... I mean, yes."
Kale stands up and runs his hands through my hair. "Dinner.... soon. We have to go. We were just driving by and I saw the kids playing so we stopped for a few to say hi. I don't want to ruin Tristin's fun, so tell him I'll see him in a few hours."
I fix my hair and smile at Kale. "Okay."
Then Kale turns away and slaps the back of Brendon's head. "Get your hand out of her shirt and let's go."
Luna pushes Brendon away and pinches his nipple. "I hope I don't see you soon."
Brendon smiles at Luna and grabs his nipple. "I like it rough."
Luna licks her lips and watches the boys walk away. Then she jumps off of the table and sits down next to me. "Damn it! I don't know if I want to kiss him or kick his ass when I see him. "
I lay back and smile. "Kale just asked me out to dinner."
Luna leans in close to me and almost falls over on my seat. "What, right now?"
I help Luna sit back up and then I look over at the kids playing. "No, we're not going right now. I don't know when."
He looks so hot in that uniform. I'm in trouble.
