Oh, Grey. What a dull colour.

"Y-You can't see the colour of me?" Kenma inched closer. 'Crap. If she lost hers, then that means...'

All [Y/N] could do was slowly shake her head, tears slowly dripping off her face one by one. She told Kenma to just go home because she needed to think through what happened. Hoping [Y/N] would feel better if he did so, he waved her a good-bye and walked back to his home. Once his shadow was out of sight, she covered up her mouth with her hands, scared someone will hear her if she accidentally lets out a sound. She dragged her pale feet into the house, swaying from time to time. When she reached the entrance of inside her house, [Y/N] let out all her remaining energy and desperately leaned on the nearest wall. She couldn't even bother to turn on the lights. Her back was against it, and she slowly removed her hands. Head looking up, tears rolling down. When was the last time it happened?

Having no more strength in her frail legs, she slid down onto the floor, her head now staring at it. Her hands chose to lift and put on her face, muffling her edgy cries of the pain. When she cried, there was like a rawness to it, like the pain was still an open wound. Like it was fresh. She knew all too well that this whole phenomenon didn't last. She tried not to cling on to her colourful life, and return to her dull one. But she couldn't. I mean, who could? The chills and joy of seeing colours was an everlasting moment that she always treasured.

The sobs were stifled at first as she attempted to hide her grief, then overcome by the wave of her emotions she would break down entirely. Finally deciding to go wash her face, [Y/N] looked at her bathroom mirror and saw a picture of grief, loss, devastation. It was the face of one who had suffered before and didn't know if she could do it again.

"Truly a mystery" [Y/N] used to tell herself why she can't see colours. But now that she lost one, before she went to bed, she whispered, "Solved and forgotten..."

[Y/N]'s eyes were red and puffy the next morning, her hair was messy and uniform still on. But she didn't care. Looking back at her reflection, she also realized she could no longer see her skin colour, nor her red tie on her uniform. It was certainly a long time since she looked that... broken. She trudged her feet over to the window, looking out with a small speck of hope left in her. But when she looked out, all she could see...

was her normal life. Her dull, grey, one.

A few weeks passed since. And everything that happened the following morning of that unfortunate day was the same as today. The grey road, the grey sky, the grey uniform and self, it's all grey. Her usual poker face was already plastered on her face as if it was waiting for its moment to return and stay there. The only colours she could see were Purple, Orange, Pink, and Green. Of course, along with the different shades of the four colours she could also see. But they were faint. The contrast between them didn't seem to differ, even though she always passed by the gym, the one place that made her colours shine the most. Instead, they darkened.

Arriving at school with the buzzing of students suddenly staring at her didn't make her flinch. Well, of course they'd stare. The aura [Y/N] gave off was different. No longer the shy, sassy, yet somehow cute girl walking with a small smile. Now it was the same "monster" they've been seeing since forever. [Y/N] scanned her surroundings again. The vivid and clear pink flowers that were usually on the nearby grass were replaced with a scary tone of grey.

"Ah, there goes another colour."

Sakura, however, was somehow not affected much by it. And that somehow hurt [Y/N] even more. Sakura was still the same bubbly person she was, and she still continued to talk to [Y/N], as if nothing happened. As if she never even knew her good friend ever experienced colours. Their conversation between each other remained like before, but Sakura would sometimes say something... unusual. There were times when she said "I only was happier that time because Kuroo would often visit, oops!" or "Yeah, cool. But I don't really care about you, hahahaha." Of course, she covered up with her laugh, trying to convince [Y/N] that she's joking, but honestly, [Y/N] didn't care either way.

However for Kenma, he kept his distance. He tried talking to [Y/N] a few times, but after a month passed, all she said to him was to never talk to her again. "It's for the best" [Y/N] used that excuse. And with a frown, he stopped. But it was a different approach towards Kuroo. Kenma noticed that Kuroo remained the same sly and teasing person, and that slightly confused him. But remembering that Kuroo was a good actor made Kenma remember something. He tried bringing up the topic of [Y/N] and colours, but Kuroo completely changed it.

Another one and a half month passed, and it has been 2 months since that day. [Y/N] couldn't see Orange and Green anymore. Only the lucky Purple remained. But it wasn't long before [Y/N] would lose that too.

"Hey, [Y/N]?" Sakura asked. It was lunch time, and she decided to talk to [Y/N] again.

"What?" She returned Sakura with a mean glare.

"U-Uh, I just wanted to ask something. Are you still talking to Kuroo?"

That name. That precious name. [Y/N] went back to her dull and fierce life, but she never once got angry at Kuroo. After everything that happened, she still thought Kuroo would come back. She thought he would return and maybe, just maybe, her colours would slowly return. But she never saw him. Even though she would awkwardly go to the gym on some days, he couldn't be found. And it saddened [Y/N] greatly, but her grey life covered up that fact.

"No." She went back to eating.

"Really??" She made a loud gasp. "Oh my god! Then that I means I do have a chance!! Yes! Thank you SO much, [Y/N]! Thanks so, so, much that you're not talking to him anymore! Hahaha!" Sakura jumped out of her chair and shaked [Y/N]'s hand while smiling from ear to ear.

"For...?" Nothing but the confusion was displayed on her face.

"Now that you're not talking to Kuroo, that means I can take him! Right?"

'T-Take...him?' She suddenly felt a burn in her heart. "And for what??"

"Don't be stupid, [Y/N]. I mean what I said. I fell for him while I dated Lev. At first, I dated him because I wanted to give our relationship a chance, but going to the gym and seeing Kuroo made me realise that... I like him a lot more than Lev." A small blush formed on her cheeks.

'Was that sincere?' [Y/N] thought, surprised.

"Anyways! I'm planning to ask him out soon, so please root for me!" Sakura made a comical bow.

"Take him or have sex with him or whatever. It doesn't involve me." [Y/N] went back to eating her lunch and ignoring Sakura for the rest of the day. Although it hurt her a lot when she said those words, it was true. Kuroo probably forgot about her already. It's been almost 3 months, and she hasn't heard a single word from Kuroo. Not meaning to, but [Y/N] already forgot his voice. She remembered how he looked, but she forgot all his shades of colours. What shade of orangey-peach was his skin? What shade of flowery red was his jersey? She could no longer remember.

And finally, 3 full months have passed.

Sakura and [Y/N] were on the grass nearby the riverbank, just lying down after their study session. [Y/N] was, once again, forced to accompany Sakura to the grass for their break. The wind felt cooling, but one can only truly appreciate the nature if they can see how beautiful it is. Sadly, [Y/N] can't. Actually, more like: She used to. Her string of connection to Kuroo and Kenma was completely cut off, and her only "friend" was Sakura. But indirectly, Sakura did hurt her. She's planning to steal what [Y/N] loved very mu-- wait, loved?

"The sky's orange and pink right now! Cool, right?" The bubbly one spoke and turned her head to face [Y/N].

"Ok."

"R-Right." Silence surrounded them again. "Y'know what? We should just go home. My parents will worry about me." She gave out a small sigh and stood up. [Y/N], with her deadpan face, followed as well.

"Ok." [Y/N] just stared up.

Sakura hesitated to say something for a second. "Oh! It's so pretty!"

"Pretty?"

"Yeah! Look, look!" She kneeled on the ground and plucked something. But [Y/N] couldn't clearly see it. "Here!" She held a small flower hand and showed it to [Y/N]. "The anoda cristata! The one we learnt last week, remember?"

"Anoda... Crisata?" [Y/N] had forgotten what they learnt about flowers since, and quoting their teacher, "you need to see their colours to tell them apart". She examined the flower Sakura held and asked her, "The flower's uh... pretty, I guess."

"I know right! The contrast between the lush green and its bright lavender empower the beauty of this small, yet magnificent, flower!" Sakura was always a flower kind of person. "And under this cool wind that nature blessed us with, I can faintly smell its sweet aroma that tingles in me! But my god, I didn't expect it to be this purple! I always thought it had a brighter--"

"Wait, it's purple?" [Y/N]'s heart cracked.

"Huh? Well duh! Can't you see it? It's as clear as the river in the riverbank!" She shoved the flower in her face.

"Ugh, get that away from me. I just thought it was pink, ok?"

"Why?"

"What do you mean "why"? I already told you before. The only colour I can see now is Purple."

"But... you just said you didn't know that it was purple..." Sakura eyed [Y/N] suspiciously

[Y/N] let out a small sigh before looking up at the sky, the first thing she looked at when she found and lost her first colour. "Yeah, I know."

She looked back at what's in front of her and analysed everything for the final time. The grass that looked so fresh was now a shade of dark grey. The sky that was so crispy was now light grey with patches of white. The nearby bridge that was oak brown's now looking chad grey. And even Sakura just looked like a myriad of grey, black, and white from [Y/N]'s eyes. Grey, grey, even more grey. It's all so plain and dull. Had she never realised how plain her life was?

"Then... Doesn't that mean--" Sakura made a loud and exaggerated gasp.

"Mhm," [Y/N] held her hands behind her back and gave a sad smile to Sakura.

"I can't see colours anymore."
