When I'm reborn, how will I change?

Will there be any changes at all, or will I morph into someone completely different? Will the overall experience be too overwhelming, or will the anticipation come like a warm hug on a winter's day?

There's a lot to take in and consider in one's life as it is, not including the other factors. I should feel at my prime right now. My sixteenth birthday is just around the corner. I can get my driver's license soon, college admissions preparations start next year, but somehow I feel off. As if my cup was filled to the brim and is going to overflow any minute now and I don't know when, where, why or how. What could it be? This feeling is uncertain and uncalled for. It's like having a bad toothache and having to wait for a week until you're able to see your dentist. No matter how much I try to figure out what it could be, it could most likely be something completely unrelated to anything I've thought of, either way there's nothing much I can do at this moment but just see how things turn out and wish for the best.

"Alright then, before we finish, what can any of you tell me about Macbeth?" Ms. Genao asked as she cleaned the board behind her. "Anyone?"

Bringing my attention back to class, I hear small chuckles and annoying murmurs from the back of the classroom. "Carter, who was Macbeth written by?"

That's easy, Shakespeare, but I won't say anything. I kept my eyes glued to the gum on the back of Sarah's sweater, thinking how unlucky it would be if she were to sit back all the way.

"Is it me, or is the bell taking extra long to ring today?" Jade whispered. I grinned as Cole cocked his head back and looked at both Jade and I agreeing with his eyes. Knowing better than to speak, for if he did, Ms. Genao would pick on him next.

"Uhm, Leonardo Dicaprio?"

The class erupted in fits of laughter as Ms. Genao shook her head disappointingly. "Anyone else?" She asked, crossing her arms, leaning against her desk as her eyes scanned every face in her front of her. "Madison, please enlighten us." I snickered and inwardly sighed.

"Eh," I cleared my throat, sending a glare in Jade's direction as she tried to hide her smile. "Shakespeare."

"Great, please elaborate more on this piece to ease my soul, Madison." Everyone rolled their eyes at me and I just sighed and took in a deep breath.

"Macbeth is a stage play as a tragedy. It is one of several Shakespeare plays in which the protagonist commits murder." I summaries just as the bell rings, saving the day.

"Exactly. Thank you, Maddy. Everyone, we will start a new section in class next week, so start reading pages 56 to 74." I don't think anyone heard her as we all jumped from our seats and dashed out the door. I, for one, couldn't wait to get out of there.

"Of course, dorky-know-it-all Maddy would know the answer." Cole teased as his shoulder bumped me. I hiked my bag over my shoulder and bumped him back. "It's not my fault. I know about things other than sports or nail polish. Plus, how many times have you taken this class again, Cole?" I tease back, raising an eyebrow.

Cole Reed, also known as the Alpha's son. He's two years my senior, a senior in high school too. He's the world's biggest busybody, if you know what I mean. I wouldn't blame him. If I looked like he did, things would be different, too. Short black, curly hair with a set of emerald eyes along with a nicely built body from the excess runs and workouts with the pack. He claims to be a big bad ass at school, but I know him like the back of my hand. He's a complete softy and an airhead who prefers The Fault in Our Stars over American Psycho. That's why I have a crush on him, but he'll never know.

He rolled his eyes, grumbling, and messed up my hair. "Oh, shut it short stuff. Shakespeare and Macbeth aren't going to help me when I become an Alpha. Jade lets go." I laughed and winked at him.

"Bye sweetie, I have to go get some things ready for tonight. You sure you don't wanna come shopping with me later? The Bonfire is a school event, you know. Everyone is invited."

Jade is my best friend. Her dad is the Third in Command of our pack. She and I have been close like glue since we were toddlers. I love her like there's no tomorrow. She's the sweetest thing. She's always with me when I need her. Jade's the complete opposite of me, with dirty blonde elbow-length hair, bright blue eyes, a small waist and a flat stomach, compared to me. Short black bob, blue eyes, thick waist, and no thigh gap.

I don't let appearance bother me, even though that's what people bully me about the most. I don't resent Jade for being compared to her all the time. We're still like two peas in a pod. We tell each other everything, except I haven't told her I liked Cole. I know he would never go out with a girl like me, mainly because I know his type. The only reason he even talks to me is that I'm his childhood best friend, his Maddy-Bear, as he likes to call me.

"Yeah, come on, we'll have fun. The guys and I were planning on throwing Alex into the lake." Cole smiled, throwing his arm over my shoulder. His 6′1 figure towered over my 5′6 figure and hulled me along the hallway, with Jade walking alongside us.

"Thanks, but no thanks, guys. You know public outing, especially with the teens from our school, is not my scene." I kindly smiled and stepped back as they opened the door to the office.

"Alright then, if you insist. I'll tell you all about it tomorrow, okay?"

"Of course, darling." With a last hug and kiss on the cheek, I watch Cole and Jade talk to Mr. Stephen. Taking a deep breath, I make my way to my locker, turning the corner only to see none other than the Queen Bitch herself and her little robotic dolls.

I immediately void my face of any emotions and stick close to the lockers, trying not to grab their attention.

"Hi Mad," I spot my locker neighbor Monica at her locker. "Hey Mon, what's up?"

"Nothin, just checking out your cute socks?" She says and I look down and smile while doing a slight pose for her. "Oh thanks, I got them from---"

"Look, girls, if it isn't little geeks." I curse and just turn and open my locker. "Hey nerd, no one cares where you got those stupid socks from!" Jordan comments.

"Those are only cool for nerds. I wouldn't buy those." Betty states. Cool story bro, keep your comments to yourself then and don't buy them. I wish I had the guts to say that out loud. "C'mon. Maddy, I like your socks and no matter what Alivia says, they're cool to me." Monica states, patting my shoulder. I look up at her and smile.

It's not that I care about what they say about me, it's just the fact that they always say something, you know. Those people that always think they're better than you because they look better and want to put you down or that no matter what you're doing. Purposefully feeding on your insecurities, always having something to say.

"Hey loser, no one cares what you think, either." Alivia shot back. " Anyway, I heard you helped the teacher again and answered all the questions, being a good sport, teacher's pet. You may be smart, but your thoughts still don't matter because when you're an outcast, no one cares."

"Well, I might not be cool to you, but I'm cool to someone else." I shrug her comments away, closing my locker.

"To who? Your mom?" Jordan says, causing them to laugh. I twitch. That struck a nerve. The majority of the community know that my parents are the Beta and Female Beta of the pack and because they are, they're always busy with pack work, not to mention their human jobs as well. This time they set off on a business trip and have been gone for four months, leaving me in the care of my older brother and the pack.

Taking a deep breath, being over this conversation already, I look over at Monica, sending her a sideways smile and walking through Alivia and her crew and out of the school.

Sleeping peacefully, enjoying the soft silk of my bed, relaxed by the quietness that is morning, I jump awake, startled when a knock sounded on the door. I growled and snuggled closer into my soft pillow as the knocking continues.

"Madison, are you awake?" I heard Jade say on the other side of the door.

"I don't think she is. You know she's not a morning person." The other replied.

"She needs to get up, though. I want to tell her," Jade argued.

I sighed as I turned in my bed to peek at my clock that rested on my bedside table. The clock read 7:00 am, which made me growl again and dive back under my sheets, hiding, trying to get more sleep.

What do they need me for at 7 o'clock in the morning?! I was so busy thinking and rambling off to myself in my head that I didn't hear when the knocking stopped or when the door opened, but I felt someone jump on my bed, flattening me like a pancake.

"Uff, get off!!" I growl loudly.

All I could hear was their laughter, which made me growl even more and glare at them as they climbed off me.

I sat up on my bed, squinting my eyes.

"Ugh! Guys, come on! What's wrong with you?! Can't a girl get some sleep?" I groaned sleepily.

"I hope it's not beauty sleep you're planning on taking." I heard Cole speak, making me turn my glare directly on him.

"Ha-ha, hilarious Cole," I remarked, sarcasm dripping from each word that came out of my mouth.

"Cole, stop teasing her." Jade scolds.

Ladies and gentlemen, Cole Reed and Jade Blake.

"Why are you guys up so early?" I ask sleepily while rubbing my eyes.

"We have something very important to tell you," Jade says, excitement sparkling in her eyes.

I crossed my legs, allowing Cole and his big self to lie back against the wall with his hands behind his head.

"Well?" I pressed on. "You guys know I'm not a morning person." I add, running my fingers through my hair.

"Aww come on Maddy-Bear, you should be happy for us," Cole says, leaning up and messing up my hair. I chuckle and pushed his huge hand away.

"What are you talking about?" I asked, confused.

"Well, you see yesterday when we were at the bonfire by the beach. I went for a walk and--" I cut Jade off.

"Darling, it's too early for this whole shindig so how about you just cut to the chase and tell me what's up, because you as well as Cole and I know that once you tell me and I fall back to sleep, I will not remember later on."

She chuckles and looks at Cole. I look at both of them and raise my eyebrow. "Well? What's going on?" I pushed more.

"Cole and I are now officially dating!" Jade says squealing while jumping up and down on my bed, smiling like a maniac.

Wait, what? Cole... and Jade...dating...

I quickly snap out of it, nodding, plastering the biggest smile I could. "Oh, my gosh, you guys! Congratulations!" I said, attempting to be enthusiastic.

"Thanks." She squealed again.

"Who would have thought Mr. Big Bad Player would settle down?" I say teasingly, punching Cole's arm. He just smiles at me, the smile that I loved so much, were his dimples show.

How I always wished he would smile like that for me and only me...

He shrugs and we all smile and laugh about the good news, but knowing my heart is now broken and even worse, I won't be able to go back to sleep.
