I froze and then turned to face the voice. Shit!
"You horny teenagers and your raging hormones. This is a public area. Keep it in your pants you tramp" An old lady said "What type of indecent girl let's a boy do that to her in a hospital" the woman muttered as she left the room
Dawn broke into laughter and my face turned bright red
"She thought you were a girl" Dawn said in between his laughs
"Shut up. Geez, stop kissing me at the bad times" I said and punch him in the arm
"I'll try, lil Missy" I punched him again
It felt good to laugh about silly stuff like this after what happened to my dad.
"Hey, Dawn?"
"Yeah, Nick?"
"Stay with me"

I woke up again to someone calling my name. I peeked my eye open to see that it was a young nurse
"Mr. Patterson, please come with me. You're father is out of surgery and would like to see you" she said in a calm relaxed voice as if her words didn't mean the world to me
I sprung out of my seat and glanced back. Dawn and Mike were still sleeping. They did enough for me today, I don't think it would be necessary to wake them up too
I followed the nurse into the recovery room and there laying on the bed in a hospital gown and an IV sticking out of his arm was my father
I immediately embraced him in a tight hug but pulled back when I felt him wince. He must still be in pain
"Dad, are you okay?" I asked trying to stop the tears from welling in my eyes again
"I'm fine, there's no need to cry over me" he gave me a smile that showed a bit of sorrow in it
"Don't ever do something so reckless ever again! I thought I lost you for good this time!" I couldn't control my tears this time. My dad simply put his hand over mine and said
"I'm sorry, son. It won't happen again" He had said this to me so many times I stopped believing him but I felt this time was different. He genuinely meant each word and for some reason that made me cry even harder
"That's enough worrying about me for today. Go home and get ready for school. I wouldn't want you to tarnish your perfect attendance because of me" I knew he was joking to try to cheer me up and it worked. I nudged him in the shoulder and laughed
"School can wait" I stood there glad that I have my father with me again
I stayed up the remainder of the night talking to him keeping him company. At some point along the night a nurse asked me to leave so my father could get rest. I almost wanted to argue with her but realized that I she was right and reluctantly left the room. On my way out, I bumped into Mike
"There you are. I woke up a few minutes ago and you were gone. How's your dad?"
"He's doing well. He just needs to rest"
"So, about school. I assume we're skipping today?"
"No. Perfect attendance remember" I smiled at his frown. "Don't worry. It's not like we're going to learn anything today"
*** After school ***
"We had four pop quizzes today and homework in each class. You said we weren't going to learn anything" Mike complained on the ride home
" I expected the teachers to have us clean up classrooms that are still flooded or something. How was I suppose to know that they actually wanted to catch up for all the missed days?" I was as annoyed as he was. I was still tired from staying up most of the night
"I'm not even going to bother with the homework. That's what I have Nick for" Dawn said and I punch him in the shoulder
"Just for that, I'm not letting you copy any of my homework"
"Nick, no! I need you" I blushed at the statement and muttered fine
The school day was the same as usual but a lot more girls hugging and guys making plans to hang out. Everyone was inconvenienced by the storm in someway. It separated a lot of couples so it wasn't uncommon to see people making out in the halls. Even though some people skipped, most of the students came to school today just because they missed their friends
I'm just glad the day is over. I made plans to do my homework and then visit my dad at the hospital. In order to get there, I need Dawn to drive me so I guess I'm going to their house.
"I call shot gun" Mike yelled when we approached the car
"Alright you big baby" Dawn teased him
"I told you several times to stop calling me that! "
"Big baby, big baby, big baby" Dawn chanted at him
"You guys are the most childish people I've ever met" I laughed at their antics
"That's because we're the only people you talk to. It's also why you're known as stuck up Nick" Mike stated
"I'm not stuck up, I just don't like making new friends" I pouted
"Poor antisocial Nick. Maybe we should make you interact with other people" Dawn proposed with an evil look in his eye
"How about you don't?"
"Nope, starting today I am going to make sure you make friends"
"Don't get jealous when I like them more than you guys" I stuck my tongue out at them
"As if you could like anyone more than us. Keep sticking out your tongue like that and I might be tempted to catch it" Dawn whispered in my ear. I immediately closed my mouth and scowled at Dawn's smug smirk
"Don't make me hurt you, Dawn Miller. Remember that I don't have to give you my homework" Dawn's eyes turned into saucers
"Come on Nick, you know me. I was just joking around." he said with a shaky laugh. "Please don't take your homework away from me. I can't live without it"
"You know you sound like an addict right? But I guess I'll forgive you. For now." He pulled into the Miller driveway and we all hopped out of the car, eager to finally be away from that hellhole we call high school. Not like we can actually be free from it since we still have piles of homework to do in each of our classes.
"Welcome back kids. How was school?" Mr. Miller greeted us from the couch with the daily paper in hand. We all groaned in response and dropped the textbook weights we were carrying on our backs to the ground.
"Dad, please don't make me go back there. I don't know if I can handle another day in that hell hole" Mike whined
"Be glad that it at least is your senior year. Next year you'll all be off to college and be living the glory days."
"And you'll finally be out of the house!" Mrs. Miller shouted from the kitchen. "Maybe you'll get a job too"
"Nope, I'm gonna free load off you guys till the day I die" Mike stated proudly and ran up the stairs leaving me to follow after him.
"You're never gonna get married if you still live here at 35 Michael" I said in my best Mrs. Miller impression
"Sure I will. Assuming you move in by then. You basically live here too"
"Haha I guess I do... WAIT WHAT"
"If we get married, I thought we'd live here for a while before we find a place of our own."
"Mike, you know there are so many things wrong with that sentence, I don't know where to start." I rubbed by temples to collect my thoughts "Your parents, well your mom, doesn't know that we're dating, and for good reason. She would kill me for converting her poor son and then bring me back to life so she could kill me again."
"Oh come on. We both know you're my mom's favorite. If anything, she'd kill me."
"I'd prefer for both of us to be alive." I sighed. "Also when did you even start thinking of marriage. We've been dating for only a few days. We haven't done anything but kiss and well...a few other things"
"I didn't really think of it. I just sort of assumed we'd have that happily ever after like in fairy tales and stuff. I thought you wanted the same." Mike pouted. Damn it, now I feel like shit for going off on him. I got on his bed next to him and held him close to me.
"I do want that for us, but I also want to give us more time before we get into talking about that kind of stuff. We don't even know if we're going to the same college yet. Let's just focus on high school right now and we'll worry about everything else when we get to it." Mike nodded and pulled me closer to him "As comfy as we are, we need to start our homework soon."
"10 more minutes, tops"

"Holy shit what time is it!" I pulled out my phone and the glowing screen alerted me in the dark that it was already 9pm.
"Mike wake up, we overslept" I shook him but from my position underneath his arms, it was hard to get a response other than a groan
I needed to resort to other tactics
I leaned into the nape of his neck and tentatively placed a soft kiss. I heard a light moan escape Mike's lips but that was the reaction I was aiming for.
"Mikey, come on. I need you awake right now" I kissed on his neck more and gravitated my hips against his. I've come to learn recently that arousing him is the fastest way to get him up. Not to my surprise, Mike responds and kisses me back
"I'm up now. Let's play for a bit" Mike switched our positions and pinned my arms above my head as he kissed me
"We should starting our homework though" I mumbled. I wasn't used to Mike taking charge and it turned me on a lot
"The homework can wait" Mike brought me back to his lips for a few more minutes before trailing his hand down my chest. "I'd rather get started here first"
"Yo Nick, can you help me out this problem. Calc doesn't make any sen-" Dawn barges in here notebook in hand clearly not expecting what he saw
"I swear I'm gonna go to the supply store myself and install a lock" I sighed. Things were getting so good and the assertive side of Mike was sexy as fuck.
"Well since I'm here you might as well help me" Dawn almost looked proud of himself for interrupting our moment. I'm definitely gonna have to chat with him about this before his jealousy gets out of hand
"Fine, as long as you start knocking before you strut in here mister" I pull myself from Mike and he reluctantly releases me. I can tell he's annoyed by the situation and will have to make it up to him later.
I always admired their sibling bond so I hope I'm not causing a drift between the two. I'd hate to be the reason they stop being close to each other.
