Chapter Nine- Sorry ,This Seat Is Taken
*THE DAY OF THE TEST*
“So, how did it go?” asked Shane, who helped me study ten minutes before the test.
“It was okay. I think I should pass.”
“Well, if it makes you feel any better, it was a tough paper” he said trying to make me feel better.
“Yeah, thanks for everything though”
“No problem at all” he smiled.
“I’ll catch up with you later Gweenie” and he left.
“So, are you excited for the camping trip?” asked Megan.
“Oh yeah. I mean, other than those pesky mosquitoes”
“About that, please don’t kill all of them while we are eating”
She was right. I hated mosquitoes and spent the whole night killing them while they ate up all the marsh mellows and chips.
“That will never happen again, trust me, I learned the hard way.” I said winking at her.
“Lets go shopping today, you know there is going to be a lake there.” She said wriggling her eyebrows.
“Incase you have forgotten. I am a swimmer and do have swim wear”
“ Yes, but all are one pieces.”
“Megan!! You know how conscious I get even if I wear a short dress, let alone a bikini”
“That’s all about to change then, isn’t it” she said smirking.

“Wow! You look great! Dark Blue is so your colour”
“I-I don’t know Meg. I feel so exposed”
“And its okay because you my friend have an amazing body. You need to show it off”
“Which one are you going to buy?”
“ONE?! Honey, we are not buying only one!”
We bought three pairs each, even though I argued a whole lot, she always had her way.
She drove me home and I headed straight to my bed.
I didn’t see much of Trent today. I told him that dad would drop me but I actually asked Shane to.
As I opened my diary to fill in my boring day, I read my last entry.
SHOULD I?
That question bothered me. It made me confused and I am the type of person that likes to stay in control.
“Hey, Megan?” I rang her up.
“Yep. What’s wrong?”
“Umm, how do you know that something is wrong?” I asked with a tone of suspicion.
“Firstly, I am your best friend and secondly, we were together just 30 minutes ago and you never call almost immediately.”
“Okay. Anyway, if two friends were to have a crush on the same guy and one friend knows that her friend likes him but that friend doesn’t know that the other friend has a crush on the same guy. Should she tell her or not?”
…….
No answer
…….
“Hello? Hellooooo??”
“Im here. Don’t worry.”
“I confused you, right?”
“No you did not. I think you should tell her but always remember that friendship is worth much more than some stupid guy.”
“Thanks Meg! But wait..huh? How do you know its me?”
“I just do. Now, I better go to bed. See you tomorrow goof”
“You’re the goof, goodnight”

*THE DAY OF THE TRIP*
“I don’t remember there being so many students in our grade.” I asked Meg as we made our way inside our school.
“That’s because, there aren’t. Remember I told you that Westward High will be coming with us?”
“GGGGWWEEEENNN!!” came Michelle running towards me.
“Michelle!” I said surprised.
“Are the others here too?” I said getting excited.
“YEAH! Oh my God! This is going to be sooo much fun” she said jumping in the air.
I introduced the entire lot to Meg and Shanie.
“We will talk about this later” whispered Meg, hinting at me not telling her about my new found friends.
“Hey guys! Hop on. “ said Amanda.
“Yeah. Unless, you want to be left here.” Completed Kate.
Wow! This trip is not going to be so bad after all.
I take that back.
As soon as I entered the bus, I saw Kylie and Trent sitting at the back along with the rest of the basketball team and their so-called girlfriends.
I was almost going to sit with Meg but then I thought she’d probably want some time with Shane.
I then turned to the seat near Chase’s but I had a plan.
“Sorry, this seat is taken.” I said as I sat near Avery giving Rayna a smirk because that meant that she had to sit near Chase!! I am such a genius.
I thought about what Megan said and she was right but I didn’t know how to tell her what I had to.
“I hope you don’t get motion sickness” said a chuckling Avery.
“Oh! You didn’t know that?” I asked with a serious expression on my face.
His once happy face soon turned into a frown.
“You aren’t serious, are you?”
“Well, this one time, the bus jerked and the person sitting near me was covered in puke”
His eyes widened.
“Chill out. I don’t have motion sickness, was just kidding around with you.”
Relief washed over his face.
“Thank God!”
The bus started and everyone cheered.
It was madness. Awesome and utter madness.
“Hey Jack!” said Caroline.
“Yeah?”
“Remember how you said that you have always wanted a sibling?”
“Yep” he replied.
“Well, I think we will find a whole lot there. I’ve heard that its famous for its frogs” she joked.
Jack grabbed a hand full of Paige’s popcorn and threw it at her and in no time at all, the popcorn was all over us.
“Piss off dude. “ said Paul.
“Yeah. What a waste of popcorn” said Sean. Infact, this was the first time I heard him speak.
I heard Michelle singing Because We Can and I turned back to join her.
My eyes then fell on Kylie who was comfortably placed on Trent’s lap!!
I quickly averted my gaze before I got caught and I saw Chase and Rayna bonding.
Gaven and Andrew were laughing to themselves.
“What’s so funny?” I asked them.
“Just something that happened in the Chemistry lab the other day.”
“And what is that”
“You know that for the preparation of a standard solution, you need to use the pippet, right?” asked Gaven.
“Yeah”
“The girl wasn’t doing it properly and the prof was like- don’t blow, suck !!”
I couldn’t help but giggle.
“Perverts”
“Woah! Whose bag is this?” asked Amanda as she rummaged my bag.
“Umm… mine. Why?” I asked.
“Do you like have a factory of chocolates, or what?”
“Did anyone say chocolates? I want!!” said Paul whose eyes lit up, who knew that his weakness was chocolates!!
Amanda started distributing chocolates to everyone.
There was a reason for bringing chocolates on the camping trip.
I turned back to see if Trent was watching and our eyes met, even if was for just a few seconds. He too was remembering the old times.
I grabbed my bag.
“Leave some for later!!” I yelled putting on a smile but inside I was hurting.
