Chapter 24

My eyes snapped open, and I quickly sat up sniffing the air. The smell could only mean one thing. Pancakes. I looked over at the clock that read, '8: 17am' Who the heck is up this early? That doesn't matter, it's pancakes.

I walked down stairs, sniffing the air as though my life depended on it. Technically it did, but that wasn't important right now. Pancakes, are important right now. My mouth was watering, at the thought of eating pancakes, covered in syrup. With a glass of milk, I was so excited.

I walked into the kitchen, and noticed mom setting a plate on the table, "Charlotte, there you are. I was just about to wake you up. Good morning." I waved my hand dismissively, in a way that I hoped said, 'good morning.' My eyes were locked with the plate of pancakes, and I felt like we were having a staring contest.

The pancakes won. I quickly sat down, and basically Inhaled the pancakes. Practically forgetting to chew. Mom look disgusted, and Robbie just smirked. Oh, Robbie was here. When did he get here? I continued eating the pancakes, not even questioning the fact that mom barely cooked pancakes unless she had to tell me something-

Wait a second....Did we run out of syrup? I thought grabbing the syrup bottle, staring at it with longing eyes. Sweet syrup, why did you have to go? So young. I shook my head, and hung my head. Robbie and mom stared at me as though I lost my mind. Mom cleared her throat,

"Sweetie, uh I have something to-"

"Oh yeah!" I said snapping my fingers, "There's that extra syrup bottle. In the pantry." I said getting up, and walking over to the pantry. Behind me, Mom and Robbie shared a quick glance. I rummaged through the pantry, and finally found the bottle. I did a little victory dance, and returned to the table. Mom poured a glass of milk, and set it beside me.

I gave her a grateful smile, not questioning the fact that mom was acting extremely nice today. I just happily munched on my pancakes, with a smile on my face. Mom's pancakes were just so good.

"Uh, sweetie?" Mom said, smiling at me. I looked up and smiled back. I took a sip of my milk, and set the glass down. I turned to mom,

"Yes?" I asked, taking a bite out of the last pancake I had. Mom moved a little in her seat, and fidgeted with her fingers. She looked nervous, I slowly lowered my fork, "Mom is everything okay?" I asked, noticing the tension in the room. What's going on?

Robbie looked tensed, and upset. Mom cleared her throat and nodding, giving me an obvious fake smile, "Of course, sweetie. Everything is fine." She said looking unsure herself, "I just have something to tell you." I dropped my fork, suddenly not hungry anymore.

The pancakes, were just a peace offering. Why didn't I think of this before? I was too distracted by the pancakes, that suddenly looked less appealing. Robbie cleared his throat and stood up,

"Well, I have to go poop. If you need me, I'll be...pooping." I raised my eyes, at Robbie's retreating figure. What in the world was that? And, that was too much information. Mom started moving around in her seat, and then she stood up. She walked towards the counter, and picked up a huge envelope I just noticed.

She walked back, and set the envelope in front of me. I looked down at the envelope in confusion, and looked back up at mom. She just gave me a small smile,

"Two days ago, I got that in the mail today. I looked at it, and noticed the return address was Colorado." My eyes grew, dad lived in Colorado. I looked back down the enveloped, and immediately hated it,

"I don't want it, you can throw it away mom. If its just another check, or a 'present'." I said using air quotes, "I don't want it. I don't want to take anything from him, anymore. I have no father." Mom scolded me,

"Charlotte!" I crossed my arms, "Look, usually I would be on the same page as you. That's why it took me two days, to finally show this to you. It doesn't matter what he did in the past. What matters, is that he is trying now. And, that you should always remember that he's your father. No matter what." I continued to frown,

"I don't know what the envelope says, but you should read it. I just want what's best for you, and Robbie. And, if that means bringing him back into your lives, then so be it." With one final look, mom walked out. I knew this was hard on mom. The guys she loved, and had two kids with left. And, married someone else. Someone, younger. Luckily, mom moved on. It took some time, but I think Gerald, moms boyfriend, is good for mom.

Rolling my lips into my mouth, I stared at the envelope again. I felt like it was calling my name, tempting me to open it. I grabbed it, and walked towards my room. Pancakes, completely forgotten. I put the envelope on my desk, and turned my back on it. But, I still knew it was there.

I need an distraction, something to keep my mind off of...envelopes. I picked up my phone and called one of the girls. I thought she wasn't gonna pick up, when suddenly I heard her voice,

"Yeah?" Penelope said, sleepy. My eyes grew, and I looked at the clock, it was still eight in the morning,

"Crap, I seriously didn't mean to wake you up. It's just that...mom, Robbie, poop, envelope, dad-" I said, not even making sense.

"Say no more." Penelope said, sounding less sleepy and more alert, "I'll call Anna, we'll go to the movies, get our nails done, go shopping. Anything, to keep your mind off of things. Go get ready, and try not to dress like a hobo, be there in an hour." I smiled,

"You really are the best friend, a girl can ask for." Penelope fake sniffed,

"I love you, too. Now, get ready. Be there in an hour." She hung up, and I stood up. I walked towards my closet. I pulled out some dark jeans, and a graphic tee. I pulled on some converses, and walked into the bathroom. Remembering last night, my mind wandered to Josh. I wonder what he's doing.

I grabbed my phone, but quickly put it down. Maybe I should text him, when he's not asleep. I looked into the mirror, my green eyes, looked slightly dull, but still shiny. I put my hair up, in a high ponytail. I put on little make-up, and walked downstairs.

Mom and Robbie weren't present, probably giving me 'space'. I waited, while watching spongebob. I really wanted to try a krabby patty. Even though, now that I think about it. A soggy burger, filled with salt water seemed less appealing.

A car beeped outside, and I quickly stood up. I walked towards the door, "Mom, I'm going out. Be back, later." I shouted, before walking out the door. I walked towards Penelope's car, and noticed Anna in the fronts seat.

I got in the back, and buckled up. Penelope smiled, "Today is the day, you forget. But, tomorrow you're telling us what happened, okay?" She asked, and I nodded. This was a usual thing for us. When one of us was having problems, we would get together, and have a day of forgetting. Then the next day, we would tell what happened.

Penelope drove, and Anna turned up the radio. I got lost into the music, and closed my eyes. Suddenly, I was being shaked. I opened my eyes, to see that we were at the cinema. I looked into a pair of big brown eyes, I pulled back and frowned at Anna, who was smirking,

Rolling my eyes, I got out of the parked car. Followed by the two girls. We walked towards the cinema, a few people looking at us. We walked up to the ticket booth, and the girls turned to me. I shrugged,

"Something funny." They nodded, and ordered the tickets. I looked around, while that was happening. Finally, they had the tickets and we walked inside. I bought some overly expensive popcorn, along with some overly expensive candy.

We walked into our movie room, and found seats. The movie started, at first I thought it was going to be boring. Soon, I found my self close to stitches, with how much I was laughing. I had tears in my eyes, along with the other two.

My cheek hurts from smiling so much, and my stomach felt kind of....tight? Too much laughing, but it was worth it. By the end of the movie, I felt happier. I felt like, I had no problems. Penelope and Anna noticed this, and took this opportunity to take me shopping.

As much as the thought pained me, I was in a really good mood, and shopping wasn't getting in the way of it. We got into the car, and drove away. Halfway there, I got a call. I answered without looking at the caller ID,

"Hello?" I questioned, watching the trees pass by. It's a really pretty day, today. Wow, I'm in a really good mood.

"Hey, where are you? I was gonna surprise you, and your mom said you went out." I heard a familiar voice talk, I felt my heart beat increase. And, I felt my cheeks become hot as Josh's sexy accent floated through the phone. I cleared my throat, once I noticed I didn't say anything for awhile,

"I'm out with the girls, I was having a bad day. And, I just needed to...forget." I said, softly. I tried not to think about the...envelope. Instead, I thought about dark hair, icy blue eyes, soft warm lips, and a sexy accent.

"Well, if you waited a few hours, I would've made you forget. I would've made you forget your own freaking name." Rolling my eyes, I giggled,

"And, how would you have done that, Mr. Castro." I said, slightly sarcastic. I waited for his response, as the girls pulled up to a stop sign.

"I would've made you forget, with my lips." Josh said, in a slightly husky and seductive voice. I blushed a deep red, and Anna looked back at me amused. I coughed, trying to cover up my blush, and my speechlessness. But, the damage has been done.

"I bet you're blushing right now." Smirking, I replied in a voice that I hoped was confident,

"No..." Okay, that didn't work out so well. Oh no, what's the back up plan. Back up plan...

"I miss your eyes." I blurted out. That was totally NOT the back up plan. The back up plan was to say something totally odd and unexpected....oh. Never mind. Josh chuckled,

"I miss your big green eyes, too. Even though, I just saw you yesterday. I miss your blush, and I miss your soft lips." By now, my face was so red. A fire hydrant had nothing on me,

"I'm blushing, are you happy now." I said, laughing slightly. Josh chuckled,

"I'm pretty happy, but I'm sitting in your house. Waiting for you to return home, so I can kiss you. Your mom made cookies, and she's surprisingly less creepy than usual." I explained that things are getting pretty serious between her and that Gerald guy.

"I gotta go, we just pulled up at the mall. I'll be there in a couple hours. Two hours if I'm lucky." I groaned slightly, and Josh laughed at my misery. He said a quickly good-bye, and made kissing noises over the phone. I laughed and hanged up.

I looked up, and my eyes grew. Penelope and Anna were both looking at me with creepy smiles on their face. They glanced at each other, and then back at me. I gave them a what look. Anna shook her head,

"You are so in love. It's written all over your face." I bit my lip,

"I'm not in love, I'm too young to love." Penelope snorted,

"You can fall in love at the age of five. And besides, Juliet was like...thirteen. She feel in love with an older guy." I nodded, in agreement and chewed on my lip a little.

"Whatever, let's so shopping." I said with fake excitement. The girls laughed, not oblivious to my obvious subject change. We stepped out. And walked towards the mall. But, one thing was going through my mind, Josh.

His smile, his eyes, his perfect hair. The way his sexy accent makes me swoon. The way he slightly pouts when he thinks. How he thinks he's the bomb.com, how he dresses like, life is a fashion shoot.

I'm in love with Josh Castro, crap.

________----Yeah, I like my pickles green----__________

I'm weird right now, actually I'm weird all the time. Im just weirder right now. South Park, is crazy. Anyway, I've updated! Yay! I just posted my last chapter of The Prank Girl. So, if there are any Prank Girl fans in here, just know that it's almost done. I just have to post the epilogue.

Any who, MTTDOTC is officially UPDATED! Did you like it, love it? It was gonna be way longer, but I just wanted to update. Sorry, it took a while. I've been 'working' as a counselor for this karate camp. My best friend, was a counselor, so I decided to be one too.

Every since I agreed to be one, I've turned golden. The kids are crazy. Imagine being around people who know karate, just imagine. I'm the only one, who doesn't know karate. My best friend is a black belt by the way.

Luckily, it's still a fun experience.

I'll update, soon (Hopefully) eat pickles, and dream of unicorns.
