"RJ?"
"Here in the sofa"
The sofa was facing the balcony, and the sliding doors were open. It was drizzling yet it was a clear night, one could see the stars, the darkness illuminated by the bright lights from various buildings.
He was all propped up in the sofa and he was gazing outside. I sit next to him.
We just came from a TVC shoot. It was one of those weeks, we were both lucky if we were able to get four hours of sleep in a day.
"RJ, aren't you tired? You still need to drive home." I ask as I scooch over.
"A little, just a little" He replies as he wraps his arm around me
"Meng"
I look up and our eyes meet
"Do you ever think that we can stay like this forever"
"Like what?" I softly ask
"Like this"
"Like this?"
"Like this - just us." He says as he looks outward and eyes gaze towards the darkness outside
"Sabi mo nga, Ikaw lang at ako. Tayong Dalawa lang. Forever" I tell him as I snuggle in.
As I look out, there was a shooting star.
"RJ, Did you see that?"
"Yes, I did. I said a prayer"
"They say that when you see a shooting star, you must make I wish. So I made a wish. You said a prayer?"
"Yes, a few years back, one night when I was in a shoot, it was outdoors, I saw a shooting star. I made a wish. I ask for love to find me. I used to think that wishing on shooting stars was just a myth.......
Until you came into my life, and realised that it isn't a myth. Now, I said a prayer of thanks, to thank God for you, for sending me you.
With all that is happening in our lives, juggling the busy schedules that we have, my mind should be in total chaos but it's not.
With you, I am calm. Things have never been clearer. When you came into my life, things just clicked, like all these have been planned from the start. Things just fell into place, like pieces of lego that I couldn't figure out initially and now it's this beautiful piece that I could have never thought of.
When I am with you, I have never been certain, I have never been sure about anyone else but you. Shooting stars are one of the most beautiful things on earth. It just glides across the sky and it's brilliance just lights up the darkness of night. Just like when you came into my life, things lit up, as if someone turned on the light bulb in me. I have never felt so alive"
RJ pulls me, engulfs me in an embrace and kisses my forehead. I hug him back. We stay like that sprawled with each other for another few minutes.
"RJ, what do you call these moments again?... RJ?"
I could hear him breathing. He has fallen asleep.
RJ calls these moments, as stolen moments. With all our jam-packed schedules, we hardly get time to be together, his explanation for this was it was like stealing, we were making memories away from the prying eyes of the public or anyone for that matter and that we were stealing time from Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, away from the klieg lights, because in these moments, the moments that we were alone together, we weren't Alden Richards nor Maine Mendoza, we were simply RJ and Meng.
I place my head on his chest and close my eyes to drift away from the madness of this world. I have never felt so at peace than when I am in his arms.
Today, even for a few hours, it was wonderful for RJ and Meng. Later, when the sun rises, we will try again.
