Mallory has a tight grip on my arm. When we get inside the house, she slams the door and throws me down on the ground. Mallory looks around. "Where's all the furniture?"
"Henry and I... kind of stole it... when I was with them and you were knocked out."
"Oh, you're going to pay for this. On all fours, now!" Mallory shouts at me. I get down, and Mallory sits on my back. "Since we have no chairs, I guess this will be your punishment," she says, and opens a large book called How to Be More Evil. Her weight is crushing me.
After about an hour, I collapse. Mallory gets up and sets the book down. "Well, I guess it's time to kick you while you're down. And not in a metaphorical sense," she adds. She kicks me in the side repeatedly, and I realize how much I love her. It seems like the meaner she is to me, the more love I feel. It's almost inexplicable. After she leaves, I sigh. Time to mop the floor.
