Oh, I'm not sure what this is gonna be,

But with my eyes closed all I see

Is the skyline, through the window,

The moon above you and the streets below.

Hold my breath as you're moving in,

Taste your lips and feel your skin.

When the time comes, baby don't run, just kiss me slowly.

I stepped back, the mans crooked smile setting me on edge. I was about to fall over and if I had one more scare I swear to everything good I would have a mental breakdown.

"So Babe," his slow voice began. I attempted to shut the door, his voice jammed into it, causing it to stay open. "What're you doing here?" It was hard to deny his Irish accent but it only caused me to think of Niall, Kiara's boyfriend and wonder how she was doing.

"A-Ashton!" I called out in a shaky voice, titling my head slightly but keeping my eyes trained on the man in the doorway. He came through the bedroom door shirtless and his joggers were slung low on his hips, making him have a rough sexy look with his hair a complete mess. Haha looks like-

"Did you fuck her!" The guy laughed, but it wasn't filled with humor. "We'll, never thought you had it in you, Ash. I'm proud."

"What do you want, Adrian?" He groaned, latching a hand onto the doorframe. I stood behind Ashton, close enough to see the guy towering above his height.

"You know what I want, Irwin." He said matter-of-factly. "Hand her over." I felt a chill run up my spine as I stepped closer to Ashton, my small fist resting in the middle if his back. I couldn't help notice all the scars on his back, raised, jagged lines going from one side to the other, stopping just above his kidney and starting at his shoulder blades. They were scattered around the area but in the end, if you traced them together, made an upside down V on his back.

The thought made me think about an article I had read on fallen angels. How they had been striped of their wings for falling in love with a human and were left with an upside down v scar as a reminder of their lost ability to fly.

And in turn, made me think Ashton was kinda like a guardian angel. Vowing to protect me.

I gave a soft smile at the thought and was jerked backed into reality and Ashton's low voice rumbling through his back, his whole entirety tense.

"Your not taking her." He growled.

"Ill take what I want, Irwin. Move." I shivered at his tone but didn't move.

"Get the fuck off my porch." Ashton snapped, attempting to slam the door the same way that I did. His foot came in he pushed the door open, causing Ashton to fall back and push me back as well.

"Run!" He screamed. I stared at the sight before me; the door was slightly broken at the top, a small crack catching my eye. Ashton jumped at Adrian and they toppled to the floor. Punches were thrown and soon, Ashton was almost unconscious, lying on the floor beneath a panting man. (That didn't come out right ignore my dirty mind but if you thought about it that way haha we must be family.) he turned towards me, breathing coming in short puffs.

"Run, Riley." His voice was soft. I stood my ground, the scene in front of me too frantic to move. "RUN!"

I nodded, skimming down the hallway and to the bedroom. I locked the door, making sure he couldn't open it by placing a chair under the doorknob, jamming it. I heard heavy footsteps coming down the hall and I ran, jumping into the closet and shutting the doors. There were cracks in it so I could see what he was doing if he got in.

"I know your in there, sweetheart!" He called through the door, juggling the knob. I froze, my breathing heavy. I looked around the closet to find something I could possibly use to defend myself, standing up and searching the top shelves of the small area. The knob stopped juggling and everything went silent. I was sure he had heard me.

Suddenly the chair was on the floor and the door was open. I stepped into the back of the closet, shielding myself from view by stepping into darkness. My breathing was erratic as I shut my eyes, scared to open them. The steps got closer to the door and then stopped, I couldn't see the person through the door but I knew he was there. The doors flew open and in came an arm, grabbing my wrist tightly as I shrieked.

Ashton pulled me into his bare chest and hugged me tightly, his nose nuzzled in my hair. I stood in shock, feeling tears stream down my face before I realized I was sobbing loudly. We sunk to the floor, him holding me tightly as I calmed down.

I looked up at him, my face red and eyes puffy from crying. He had no emotion on his face, a blank stare clouding his eyes.

"Are you okay?" He asked me. I nodded.

"Are you?" I quizzed. I raised my hand a brushed the hair off his forehead. He held my eye contact.

"I'm fine." He said. "As long as your fine." His smile was devious and I would smack him on the arm, but I isn't care right now.

I looked into those eyes, seeing a deep sea color that you would see only in the middle of the ocean, a glint in his eyes making me smile slightly, because I knew that something was bringing happiness to him. His eyes held deep emotion that made me want to uncover everything about his past, what drove him to be a dark person, why he was involved with the people he is.

The scars on his back.

But even if I did want to, I don't think I should. He's dangerous. I can tell. The people he socializes with are dangerous. His life is dangerous and as long as I'm near him, I'm in danger. But no matter how scared I get, I wanna know who he is.

This all seems too familiar. The girl, messing with the bad boy, and the girl ending up dead because of it.

But strangely, I felt like when I was with him I wouldn't get hurt. Even though he scared the shit out of me, he oddly made me feel safe.

I knew that no one could get to me when I was around him.

But I won't develop feelings for him. The last time I fell in love, it ended badly. Even though I told myself this exact thing the first time and the second time, I swear this time I mean it.

I walked up the steps to my small flat, pulling the key out and unlocking the door. I bolted myself in and kicked my shoes off, making my way to the kitchen. The buzzing of my phone caught me off guard, causing me to jump.

"Kiara! Baby! I miss you!" I said into the phone when I answered it.

"I miss you too!" She laughed. "What's going on without me? Anything exciting?"

"Not really." I lied. "But I did meet a guy." She stopped.

"You what?!" She shrieked. "And I WASN'T there! DAMMIT!"

"Actually, Ki, you were. I met him at the club we went to for my birthday."

"WHY DIDN'T YOU EVER TELL ME?!"

"You were leaving!" I snorted. "Plus I didn't want to tell you because I knew you would jump to conclusions."

"Like what!" She shouted.

"Like that I like him!" I told her. "I don't like him at all! He just saved me from someone that was trying to get in my pants."

"Wait, WHAT?!"

"Nevermind, ill tell you when you get home okay love you bye."

"No you will explain this shit." She said.

"Maybe we could discuss it tomorrow." I told her, trying to remind her as if she'd forgotten.

"Tomorrow?" She asked confused. "Why?"

"My birthday!" I nearly screamed.

"Yes! Baby I forgot I'm sorry. But I will call you then, love you bye." Then the line went dead.

I turned on the tap and got me some water, drinking it down quickly.

"So your birthdays tomorrow." A voice came from behind me. I jumped, dropping the glass on the floor and shattering it into pieces.

"Ashton, what are you doing here?!" I shouted at him. He quickly rushed over to me, catching me off guard and lifting me up my waist to sit on the counter.

He knelt down, picking up the shards of glass on the floor.

"Here let me-"

"Stay up there. I don't want you to get cut." He ordered without even looking at me. I scoffed and jumped down, helping him pick up the pieces.

"What are you doing?" He scolded me, sending chills down my spine and a fluttering in my stomach when he looked at me. I wasn't sure if it was good or bad.

"I'm picking up the pieces." I told him, throwing away the handful I had and getting out the broom, sweeping up the remaining into the trash bin.

I was suddenly lifted onto the counter again, my legs parted and Ashton standing comfortably between them. He gazed at me for a second and I ran my hand against his bare forearm. He sent warmth through my entirety and I could feel the heat radiating off him.

His hand raised up and cupped my cheek, thumb rubbing circle into the spot. I looked down, the heat in my face evident.

"Hey," he said quietly, cupping my chin and forcing me to look at him. His hand went to my arm, and mine went around his neck.

When he leaned in i realized what was going on and I stopped before anything else happened.

"You should go." I breathed. "You should really go."

"Go here?" His mouth was on my shoulder. "Or here?" It was on my neck.

(A/N I READ A BOOK RECENTLY CALLED HUSH HUSH I AM AN OFFICIAL HUSHER AND THIS WAS IN THE BOOK I GIVE CRED TO BECCA FITZPATRICK FOR WRITING THIS AND SHE HAS AN AMAZING BOOK OK MOVING ON)

"Go home." I said softly, shoving his chest lightly so he'd back up.

"Okay. Ill go home on one condition." He said. When I didn't answer he went on. "You let me take you out tomorrow night. For your birthday." I shook my head.

"No." I told him firmly, my hands resting in fists on his chest.

"Please?" He begged. The softness to his tone surprised me. I sighed.

"Fine. I guess I'll go." I told him. He smiled, pressing his lips to my cheek. I felt heat rose to the spot where his lips were pressed and I replicated the action, kissing his cheek in return.

I listened to the door closed as it hit me.

Me and Ashton Irwin almost kissed.

Oh and the worst thing?

I have a date with him for my birthday.
