Chapter 13: Player Two?

I FEEL LIKE I HAVE STAYED IN THE HOSPITAL FOREVER.

But the day for me to get out was today. My arm was still wrapped up and my breathing improved a bit. I could start talking again properly and I was excused from school for the rest of the time I was in there. The wounds in my leg have healed which meant I wouldn't use a cane in school.

Wilfred visited frequently telling about how much work there was to be done and how it was so tiring he wished he had been the one in the accident.

"Just joking," he would then say.

I waited for the girl to come and visit, but she didn't. Carryle (did I get it right?) did not show up the whole time I lay in the hospital bed, watching a marathon of MythBusters.

It was ten in the morning when I was discharged from the hospital. I wore a blue cast for my left arm and watched cars going past by us.

Getting a bit curious, I ask my mother, "How did you guys find out?"

"Well, we were watching a show on the life of Shakespeare and suddenly Wilfred calls us and tells us that you got yourself into a car crash. We asked him where he was and we came there as soon as possible."

She stops for a while.

"And then when we see you, we just can't stand looking at you like that. We had to call 911 immediately. We brought the car over to the hospital and then when you were placed on that gurney, we were with you every step of the way. I just don't want to go through that again. Please."

I'm still looking out the window.

"Yeah, okay."

I start doing the pile of homeworks school has sent me when I get home. It's a lot, but hopefully I'll finish tonight and get up early tomorrow.

It's really hard working with one arm. The things you can do are limited, and so you'll always have to ask for help. And that kinda sucks. Do you know how hard it is to eat with just a spoon? It's hard, I can tell you that. And when I have to take a bath? I have to get help. From my mom. Now that's embarrassing.

When I went to bed that night, I logged on to Facebook. It had been a while since I last did. Usually there are just junk like comments on photos that aren't even nice and 'this person has sent you a request on Criminal Case!' and all that.

But what caught my attention was the stuff people wrote on my timeline. Apparently, a lot of my relatives had learned of my accident and had written 'get well soon!' on my timeline.

It was mostly that from people I did and didn't know-there was even a long apology post from Greg, the guy who wouldn't listen to me. I ignored it though, as I forgive people easily and move one quickly.

Yes, that's how resilient I am.

Carryle Lopez apparently also posted on my timeline.

'The game is paused for now. I hope you get well soon. I need a second player :D'

What did she mean by that? I shrug it off, but I PM her to say thanks. She's not online, but I do it anyway.

Then, I go to sleep dreaming of that night happening again and again and again. Because I will never forget how much joy and pain I felt that night.
