"Where she at? She said ten minutes twenty minutes ago" Jamal said, freaking out about Cookie being late
"Calm down, she'll be here" Porsha said
"Mal go have a drink before you have a panic attack or some shit." I said
"There she go, Right there" Porsha said as we looked over and saw Cookie walking over
"Hey babies" Cookie said as she hugged me and Jamal. I walked over to Hakeem who was in his lil VIP section drinking with a bunch of girls dancing around him and his crew. Amber would've loved this but she had to go back to Oakland
"Hey babe, Cookie get here yet?" he said as he pulled my on to his lap. Jamal's song came on and everyone got hype over it
"Yeah, she out there with Jamal." I said before sipping my drink. I noticed the almost empty bottle of alcohol in his hand and said
"Did you drink that whole bottle?"
"Nope...Maybe" He replied, slurring his words
"Yeah you did. You need to stop before you get sick."
"I don't need to do shit." He said sounding all mad
"Don't get mad."
"Nah, I'm grown. Imma do what I wanna do."
"I'll be back" I said before I got up and walked over to Jamal.
"The song sounded great. I could tell everyone loved it"
"Thanks Lani, Why you leave Keem?"
"He's drunk, I dont have no time for no drunk ass lil boy's"He laughed
"You crazy, Here come ya boy right now." I turned to see keem walking over
"Ayo can I get an autograph? Somebody get me a pen"I hate drunk ass people yo..
"Hakeem go home, you're drunk." Jamal said
" So what? I'm drunk, she fine and you brilliant. You the one with all the talent in this family." he said as he stumbled and slurred his words
"Baby are you okay?" I asked
"What's going on?" Cookie said after she walked over.
"Jamal, I got a new song and I wan't you to hear it. Can you come over?"
"Sure we'll both come over" Cookie said
"I didn't invite you!" Keem yelled at Cookie. This nigga must be crazy
"Come on Mal, I need ya help. I can't get the hook right"
"Hakeem I don't care. You Shouldve thought about all that before"
"Thought of what?"
"How long did you think I was gonna just let you sit around and disrespect our mother while all she's tryna do is help? I don't care"Wait.. Keem has been disrespecting Cookie? I mean, I kinda noticed it but I didnt think it was all just blatant disrespect. Jamal walked out so Keem turned to me before saying
"So can you help me with the song?"
"Just go home Hakeem."
"Fine, I'm out." I wen't up to chicken and asked her to take Hakeem home, she said she would so I went over to Cookie.
"You good Ma?"
"Yeah, I'm fine baby. You leavin' with me?" she asked
"Yeah, I guess. Don't really wanna be with Hakeem right now."
"Well come on then." We got in my car and drove to her apartment.
"Hand me that jacket over there"I handed her the black jacket laying on the floor
"What the hell is that? I told you don't get pregnant, that doesn't mean you can get married instead!"
"Ma, I-(gco)"
"No No No, Call Hakeem's little ass over here. Aint even tell nobody."
"We didnt-(Gco)"
"You pregnant?"
"No. We didn't get married!"
"Oh. Okay. Well what the hell is that then?"

"A promise ring? That's cute. You know, I was about your age when I met Lucious. Yeah, we went on a date then I ended up with three kids." She laughed as she walked to the couch and plopped down. I sat next to her
"So, wassup with you and Hakeem?" I asked
"I dont know, He's just always so mad at me. Being in Jail for seventeen years and not ever getting to see him once must have been hard for him but It was hard for me too. he should be mad at Lucious for never bringing him to see me."
"So he's acting like it was all your fault?"
"Yeah I guess."
"I'll talk to him."
"Would you? Thank you Kehlani" She said before hugging me.
"Bye ma."
"Bye baby." I walked out and drove to Keem's house.
"Where was you?" Keem asked as I entered the door, closing it behind me
"Did you sober up yet?"
"Yeah, So where was you?"
"Your mothers house." I walked to the bed room
"You mad or sum?" he asked as he followed me in to the room and sat on the bed
"Yes, I'm mad Hakeem! You disrespect your mom like she's not the woman who gave birth to you. That's not okay. I know your ma-(gco)"
"You don't know how I feel!"
"Hakeem I know more than you think! I have never even got to spend time with my parent's and still would never disrespect them like you disrespect your mom. My dad died before I was born and my mom shift me off to my aunt because she got arrested and still is in jail to this day. You think I don't get mad sometimes? I get mad but I know everything happens for a reason. But when you disrespect your mom it makes me mad cause you don't know how fuckin lucky you are to have parents!"
"Kehlani, I... I'm sorry."
"Don't apologize to me. Talk to Cookie. I'm going home."
"Lani, Stay."
"No, you obviously need some time to yourself so I'm leaving. Bye Hakeem."I walked out and drove home.
*Next Day*
When I woke up.. It felt like I had a whole bunch of different emotions built up inside of me. Usually when I feel like this, I sing. So I'm going to Empire for some Studio Time. I got Dressed(Media 2) When I got to Empire, They was checkin ID'sI showed the guy my ID and he let me in. Cookie came in seconds after me. When the guy asked for her ID, she popped off so another guy came up. From the way she was lookin at him, I think Cookie got a crush. He let her in and she walked up to me.
"oooh Cookie got a crush."
"On Malcolm?"
"Yes"
"Shut up girl!" we walked to the studio and I got in the booth. I closed my eyes hearing the beat start

I wiped the tears from my eyes and walked out of the booth seeing Hakeem and Cookie sitting on the couch they stood and I was pulled in to a hug by Hakeem
"Baby, I'm sorry."
"I told you don't apologize to me. You know what you need to do" He looked at me then to Cookie
"Mom, I'm sorry. I was just mad that I never got to see you, then you just popped up. It was a lot to take in, plus you always with Jamal like you love him more than me or somethin." Cookie hugged him saying
"Baby, I love you and your brother the same. You're both my babies and I will always love you."
"I love you too." Cookie pulled away from the hug saying "What you sittin there cryin for? Get in here." I joined the hug and after about 30 seconds we all pulled away.
"Aright, we got the song. Lets take it to Lucious." Cookie said before we walked out of the room. We saw some lady with a little girl at the front trying to get in. Lucious, Anika and Jamal came out and the Lady yelled Jamal's name
"You know her" Malcolm asked Lucious
"Let her in"The lady walked closer to us and Jamal walked up to her
"Hi Jamal" She said
"Wassup Olivia. What you doin here?"
"We heard you on the radio, They will not stop playing it and Lola here knows all the words. Sing it Lola"
"Dolla dolla dolla bill" She sang all quietly. She was a cute little girl
"She wanted to meet her daddy."
