His words echoed in my head, "...and I really like you." I went to my room and grabbed some pajamas and told Collin I was going to go change. I didn't need to change but I I did need somewhere to think alone. I started listing reasons why not to run into Damien's arm and tell him I love him.
1. He has a girlfriend.
2. You have a boyfriend.
3. His girlfriend is your stepsister.
It was clear; I can't have feelings for him. I can't love him. I needed to talk to someone, so I pulled my phone out and dialed Cynthia's number.
"Hello", Cynthia answered. She sounded surprised that I had called her.
"Cynthia, I don't know what to do, Damien said he really liked my, but I told him to get over me, but it's taking all my strength not to run back to him."
"Okay Jade, this is getting really old."
"Excuse me", I said with an angry tone in my voice.
"I know you're crazy over Damien, but you have something great with Collin why would you throw that away for Damien, by what Angela is always talking about at school; I don't think they're going to be breaking up anytime soon. I suggest you live up to what you told Damien and get over him and be happy with Collin. Or do you really wanna take a chance, leave Collin, and get your heart broken... again. I'm telling you Damien has a reputation of being a player."
"A player? How, Angela has been his only girlfriend", I asked wanting to know more.
"Well I didn't want to tell you this, but the football team makes bets that involve girls and Damien is famous for being part of these bets. Why do you think Angela is clingy and any chance she gets, she sleeps with him."
"I don't know, tell me why", I told her not really wanting an answer anymore. My eyes started to tear up. What if I was part of one of those bets?
"She's scared that one day he'll leave her for a girl he may have slept with over a bet. Face it Jade, your first love is a player. Focus on Collin and maybe Collin will be your second love. I gotta go, if you want we can talk tomorrow too."
"Yeah, sure", I said sniffling and wiping my eyes.
"Ok, bye." I put my phone down. I washed my face, hoping it would make it less noticeable that I cried. I wasn't crying because I was sad, it was because I was mad. Was I really part of a bet? Did the things Damien told me at homecoming night a lie just to get me in bed? Ugh. I wanted to punch something, so I did. My fist slammed into the wall. Almost immediately my hand began to hurt. It didn't swell up, but I cut it up pretty bad. I heard Collin knocking at the door.
"Jade are you ok?"
"I'm fine, I just hurt my hand", I said grabbing my hand, trying not to scream in pain.
"Well can you unlock the door?" I reached for the door knob and unlocked it.
"Jesus Jade, what happened to you hand", he said grabbing my hand and examining it.
"I told you I hurt it."
"How, well that doesn't matter now. Let's clean it up", he said grabbing bandages and rubbing alcohol. He out my hand over the sink and poured the alcohol over it. Of course being myself, I had to scream, loud.
"Should have told you it was going to sting", he said smiling and grabbing and ace wrap and wrapping my hand up. Damien came in, shirtless of course and wearing his boxers. Angela followed him wearing his jersey. They made up fast.
"Nothing, I just hurt my hand, but it's all good now" I said looking at my hand all bandaged up.
"Are you sure, we could take you to the hospital", Damien asked.
"No I'll be fine, plus if I need anything I have Collin. I don't want to disturb whatever you have going on", I said motioning at Angela. I could see it made upset him when I told him I had Collin with me and I didn't need his help. Damien didn't say anything else; he just went back to Angela's room.
"It's late I should go home", he said giving me kiss on the forehead and walking down the stairs. I didn't want him to leave. I was scared to fall asleep alone and have another nightmare.
"No you can't go the rain still hasn't let up; I think it's raining harder than before. You could stay here", I said hoping I had convinced him of staying. I didn't want to tell him the truth, but knowing Collin he would ask for it.
"I'll stay if you tell you want me to stay, not because of the rain."
"Ok I want you to stay, now please don't leave."
"Now tell my why", he said being persistent.
"I'm afraid, not of the rain but of my mind. I'm afraid if I fall asleep I might have the same dream and you won't be there to wake me." He grabbed me and pulled me in for a hug.
"I'm not going anywhere, plus you couldn't get me to leave even if you wanted to." I couldn't help but laugh. We went back to my room and lied down on the bed. Collin fell asleep before me. Each time I dozed off I could see the guys face, I shook myself to wake up. I couldn't take it anymore; I got up and began cleaning my room. I didn't realize how much noise I was making until I felt Collin's hands wrap around my waist.
"Why are you awake", he said kissing my neck.
"I can't sleep, it's impossible each time I close my eyes I see his face. That is not the last face I want to see before I go to sleep."
"Then let's do something besides cleaning to keep you awake", he said turning me around and kissing me.
"Let's watch a movie", I said as his lips released mine. Unlike Damien, Collin didn't try to get me in bed; he just nodded and began walking down stairs. I was surprised, but at the same time I wasn't; Collin was different from Damien, but I didn't know if that was a good thing or a bad thing. I grabbed a blanket and headed downstairs.
"I already started playing the movie."
"Nothing scary, right", I said hoping he had chosen a funny movie. That's when the beginning scene of Saw began. I looked at him, bet he just smiled.
"What; it's my favorite movie", he said putting the volume up. I had spent half of the movie covering my face with the blanket and screaming. I rested my head on Collin's shoulder. I was careful not to scream, but apparently I hadn't been careful enough because Angela and Damien were downstairs.
"Why are you screaming", Angela said rubbing her eyes, clearly tired.
"We're watching Saw and Jade is a little scared", Collin said.
"Oh cool, I love that movie", Damien said grabbing Angela and sitting on the couch right next to me and Collin. Can this get any better? At least they were both fully clothed this time.
"I'm here if you get scared", Damien said to Angela, but somehow it was meant for me because while he said that he put his hand on my thigh. My whole body was covered by the blanket, so Angela didn't notice. I looked up at Collin and I could tell he saw what Damien did. I could tell he wanted to get up and confront him, but I held his hand trying to calm him down. I didn't want my dad to come home to a messed up house and two bloody and beat up teenage guys. I moved closer to Collin and stayed there. He put his arm around me, like he was telling Damien to back off. The movie finally ended, but I didn't get to see the ending. I had finally had enough of all the blood and gory scenes. I decided to doze off through the rest of the movie. I woke up to Damien shaking me.
"Wake up baby, the movie is over", he said. When I finally woke up I noticed Collin and Angela weren't there.
"Where are Angela and Collin", I asked Damien.
"Angela got tired so she went to her room to sleep and Collin, I don't know, he just went back to your room without saying anything", he said taking the movie out of the TV.
"Well I'm off to bed", I said throwing wrapping the blanket around myself. I was walking upstairs when I heard Damien's footsteps right behind me. I though he just going to pass right by me, but instead he pushed me against the wall and crashed his lips into mine. I wanted to pull away, but a part of me wanted more. His tongue invaded my mouth. This kiss wasn't a gentle kiss but an aggressive one. He finally let go.
"Why did you do that", I said pushing him.
"I wanted to do it before..."
"Before what", I asked.
"Before you get over me because I will never get over you Jade no matter how much I try", he said smiling.
"Well I hope you do", I said walking past him up to my room. I dropped my blanket on the floor of my room and headed to the bathroom to brush my teeth. Damien was the last thing I wanted to taste. After I finished brushing my teeth I headed back to my room. I looked around trying to find Collin, I searched everywhere for him. I even went back downstairs, but I couldn't find him. His coat was gone so I came to the conclusion that he had left. But why did Damien see him go back to my room, but not see him leave. Then I saw a figure sitting right outside my window. It was Collin. I grabbed my jacket and joined him.
"The rain cleared up", he said as I sat next to him.
"What are you doing out here", I said.
"Well after I went back to your room, I decided to leave, but I didn't want Damien to see because then he would try to make a move. So I climbed out your window. Then you flashed through my head right before I was about to jump off. I couldn't leave."
"Why", I said; it was the only thing I could say. Collin didn't say anything he just cupped my face with his hand and pulled me in for a kiss. It only lasted a few seconds, but it was so meaningful and passionate.
"Because Jade, I love you", he said. I could tell he meant it. He wasn't just caught in the moment like Damien.
"I love you, too", I told him. He smiled and kissed me again.
"We should go inside, before we give the neighbors a show", Collin said grabbing my hand a leading me back inside.
"Now where were we", he said pulling me in for a kiss. He was leading me to the bed, but since I was walking backwards I tripped over the blanket I had thrown on the floor. We fell down and Collin landed beside me. I look at him and we both burst out laughing.
"Stupid blanket ruined the moment", I said kicking it.
"It's not ruined", Collin said rolling on top of me and kissing me again.
"Ow", I said.
"What's wrong am I hurting you?"
"Not you, I think I'm lying on a pencil."
"Well you're not a very good cleaner", he said getting off of me and picking me up. We ended up on the bed. Collin's shirt was already off and it was my turn, but before we could do anything else I heard my dad's voice as the door opened. I threw Collin off of me and he rolled off the bed and hit the floor. He let out a small groan followed by an "Ow." I threw a blanket over myself and lied down.
"Hey honey, the rain let up, I know it's like 4 in the morning so I'll let you sleep, I just wanted to let you know we were here."
"Ok, dad", I said acting tired.
"Do you know why Angela has the door locked, she won't open her door", he asked.
"She must be upset, let her cool off", I said. I knew the real reason, but if I told my dad Angela would tell on me.
"Alright see you in a couple of hours for school", he said closing the door. As soon as I heard the door shut I looked at the side of my bed where Collin had fallen. He wasn't there.
"Collin", I whispered. Then I felt Collin's arms around me.
"Did you think I would leave you, I'm not that easy to get rid of", he said smiling. I fell back on the bed and Collin lied down next to me.
"Wanna know something", he said.
"Tell me."
"I have never had so much trouble trying to sleep with my girlfriend ever", he said laughing.
"Maybe we should just fall sleep, we do have school in like 4 hours", I said looking at him.
"I guess", he said jokingly. I pulled the blanket over us and he pulled me in close to him. I felt like we had only slept for 10 minutes, but Collin's alarm began to ring and my alarm was set for 6:30, so I had like 5 minutes to find it, before my dad heard two very different alarms. Two alarms at the same time meant two phones, which meant to my dad that there were two people in one room. I jumped out of bed and began looking for my phone. I tried looking for my phone before it began to ring, I didn't want Collin to hear my ringtone. I had already made fun of his ringtone, it finally spotted it by the window, but before I could reach it the alarm sounded. Kiss You by One Direction started playing. I ran to get it, but Collin jumped out of bed and beat me to it.
"You were making fun of me, the shoe is on the other foot Ms. Santini", he said holding my phone up so I couldn't reach it. Instead of struggling with Collin I decided to get his phone and turn off his alarm.
"Jade, are you awake, your alarm has been ringing for a couple minutes now", my dad said knocking on my door.
"Yeah dad I'm awake, I just like the song", I said. I mouthed the words, "give me my phone" to Collin, but he just shook his head. My phone finally went on silent, so I left to go change. On my way to go change my dad stopped me in my tracks.
"Jade I went into your room right now because your phone was ringing again and I found something." Crap, I'm caught and in trouble. He pulled a phone out of his pocket.
"Last time I checked you had an iPhone, not a Samsung Galaxy", he said showing it to me.
"Uh yeah, that's Collin's he must of left it here before he left", I said.
"Well, I think you broke a rule missy." Did he find Collin in my room? I'm not in trouble I'm dead.
